Texas country is a rapidly growing subgenre of American country music. Texas country is known for fusing traditionalist root sounds (similar to neotraditional country) with the outspoken, care-free views of outlaw country.

Looks like it's going to be an awesome show
Hey y'all,
I'm a student at UT and a member of the Texas Cowboys, a spirit and service organization on campus. We are one of UT's oldest organizations, and we fire Smokey the Cannon on gamedays.
We have an annual fundraising event called Harvest Moon which is a concert that supports UT Elementary, our main philanthropy. This year we are proud to host the Randy Rogers Band, opened by the June Shine Band, in Republic Square Park on 11/14! The event is open to all and is BYOB for 21+ (no glass).
General admission is $35 - VIP is $200 with private section and drinks. Please message me for tickets or any questions! 🤘🏻
Listening to Keep the Wolves Away by Uncle Lucius makes me want more country about or from galveston/brazos county. I'm from the area and that song hit HARD, any suggestions would be appreciated!
I miss home and want to hear what y'all think our Texas equivalent of Ray Charles' Georgia on My Mind is. Something along the lines maybe of Tanya Tucker's Texas, but maybe a little more acoustic. Songs that just wax poetic about Texas. Hit me with 'em.
I don't have all of my videos posted yet, but got a few if you'll or interested. I will be adding more over the next couple of weeks.

I was watching videos on YouTube of the CMAs in the late 80s and early 90s, and it just makes me sad how fake Nashville has become. Take Aldean for example. Raised in Macon, Georgia (150,000+) and his Dad lived in Homestead, Fl. (80,000), wants to tell me about life in a small town. Like he knows shit about it. Nothing wrong with being from a city, but don’t pretend otherwise to sell records. I’m so thankful for the artists who give their souls to write songs that are real and meaningful. Who’s gonna fill their shoes, Mr. Jones? Randy Rogers, Jason Boland, William Clark Green, Zach Top, to name just a few.

My wife and I are going to the Friday show (April 11) and we’re wondering if anyone would be interested in splitting a party bus or shuttle or something to get up to Stillwater from OKC and back?
Hi all, as the title states, im pretty new to country music but seem to like a lot i hear (aged 39, not lstening to current music no more!).
Can you all reccomend country singers/ bands to give a whirl for a newbie? Doesnt have to be new country, im open to anything.
I darent say what "country" ive listened to so far and like for fear of being destroyed on this reddit lol, so open to suggestions.
Thanks
Edit really appreciate all your help guys/ gals with this- i was expecting only a couple of replies so im well pleased with the amount of suggestions and will no doubt have no shortage of options to try for the next few months!
Embarassing I can’t remember but the singer sings a name (I almost wanna say Jenny) and talks about a girl who has come back from California”.
It’s stuck in my head right now, so any guesses would be great please.
I know there is a song that specifically talks about North Fort Worth but can’t remember what it is. Any help?
I know it's a historic venue. Was thinking about doing a Nashville trip centered around RRB playing at the Ryman.
Edit - thanks for all the replies! We decided to catch them somewhere else as Nashville wasn't towards the top of places to go.
That was a frustrating experience. I was in the queue for 3 hours and 45 minutes just to get shut out. Maybe I will have better luck on Friday. Hopefully you had better luck than me.
Update: They added two more shows and presales start tomorrow. Good luck!
It plays a lot on our “Sounds Like Texas” 100.3 HD 3 channel here in Houston.
A guy, my girl is with me. Either 90’s country or Texas/RedDirt. Lighthouse keeper isn’t an option. Neither is “Spotless” by Zach Bryan. Have already done “That Summer” by Garth. Ideas?
For anyone who has seen Whiskey Myers on tour this year, do they have horns with them?
I saw them at Bourbon and Beyond and was pretty disappointed to see no brass when they featured so heavily on their most recent album. (For the record the show was still awesome, but John Wayne just doesn’t hit the same way without the horns). They are playing near me soon and I would 100% go if they are bringing the brass!
When I was in the navy I used to stream a Texas country show online from dfw. The host was good and did interviews. It was on the wolf. Haven’t heard it in years. Is there another similar show?
I heard a song about 10-15 years ago on The Ranch and can't remember the singer or the full lyrics. There is a line about burning every bridge you cross. Also there is also a line (it might be the chorus) about being the Mayor of something... Sorry, whish I had more info.
Thank you in advance!
