Metal Sludge Alumni & Memories

I’m curious to see who all here was on Metal Sludge from 2000-2009. IMO, this was the golden era of Metal Sludge. What was your Sludge name and what is one of your favorite Sludge memories? Feel free to post the link to the thread!

BTW, I was rikirachtmanstheshit (aka The Rikstik) and hands down my fave was Rockphoto’s “blurry pictures” post.

Star Bitch-Twisted E

Hi motherlickas, I made a song inspired by a mix of Bowie and Arctic Monkeys (Tranquility Base era) songs. Decided to have a laugh with it and parody the intro to Andy Warhol at the beginning aha

1970s British Glam Rock and how it impacted young people

Student from Canada here trying to write a research paper. Wondering if anyone could suggest some online sources on British youth experiencing early 1970s Glam Rock? And does anyone know why the genre was so short-lived in the UK?

Thanks so much!

New bands similar to Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack?

I love the Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack. (Both movie and original Broadway version.) The raw rock sound. I love that it's a modern, polished sound but not sterile.

I already listen to a lot of heyday glam and rock and roll -- any suggestions for current bands in this style?

How close was Roxy music vs Bowie in the 70s in the UK alone?

I ask this because America has an outside view. I often wonder what Bowies clout was pre let’s dance, even though scary monsters was a fine album. Roxy music of course had redefining album of their own with Avalon. Was Roxy just as big or was Bowie still the top dog with experimental albums like low?

My periodic Power Ballads post

Every now and then i like to remind you guys about my website where i am endeavoring to create an all-encompassing list of power ballads by hair metal / hard rock / AOR artists. My latest update is links to YouTube videos of the songs (when available).

If you have a favorite act who has some great ballads, check out my list and see if i have all of them listed. Do you know some obscure/unknown/unsigned bands that put out that little-known ballad that you love? Even better! Make sure i add that one too. I even try to collect info on those obscure, unsigned bands.

So, last time you guys had me working for weeks to listen to and add over 100 new ballads. Thanks so much!!!

So please check out thepowerballadz.com if you're into this sort of thing.

What makes a power ballad? Here's my criteria.

Oh, and this is totally a passion project, i make no money from creating this website.

My mom’s interested in getting into glamrock fashion

Me and my sister are both relatively alternative ourselves. Our mom loves it and wants to get into alt fashion (specifically glamrock) herself as her mom never let her go any further than listening to the music. She has a lot of freedom now and now she has that freedom she wants to use it for something that’ll make her happy. I’m super excited to help her but I really don’t know where to look. Yes, Vinted and eBay, but I don’t know what exactly to search. Any keywords? Anything I should look for in simple terms?

Also, are patches popular/common in glamrock fashion or no? She wants to start making statements and standing up for things more, so I think I could get her a jacket as a gift and she can add patches to it. Could they work at all? Or is it an absolute no?

Please help. I know nothing about glamrock and I can barely find anything on it. Thanks!!

Need help with this song. Does anybody know it?

Hi guys! Need some help here.

I can't find the artist or name of this cool song. All I know is that it's a kind of glam rock band, and no Shazam or any song finder app would give me any clue. I can recognize some of the lyrics in the chorus, and still Google won't give me any helpful peace of info.

Here is where I listened to it. (I also checked the song description in the video but it's wrong. I also emailed the guys who uploaded the vid. - had no respones lol. )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHRZyrN9qgs&t=457s

Song begins at 5:27.

Chorus is audible at 7:22

Any peace of info will be nice!

This week’s Rock Trivia question.

Before answering please see directions below the question.

This American band released an album in 1982 that featured the band on the cover, but the guitarist on the cover didn’t play on the album. He did the promo shows and videos for it. The band again in 1985, re- released the album with a different cover of the current lineup and again the guitarist in the cover didn’t play on the record. HE did get credited on this version. Their feeling was trying to give the album the attention they felt it deserved. The guitarist who did work on the album became a member of the band by then and was out before the release in 1985. The original cover was supposedly inspired by a children’s book by David Cutts from 1979. Name the band, the album and the actual guitarist who played on it.

I ask that you use the Reddit Chat function to answer or

Use this email sethsrockreport.com@gmail.com

You can go over the link tab click on that and see what the format is and answer within that link as well.

Please do not comment in the thread so others can guess as well. When providing the answer can you state your name and where you are from for the next week’s post.

Thank you,

Seth
