    Car Battery replacement

Can anyone recommend a battery place that has batteries that last longer than one year? Currently going to walmart but they changed their warranty and I don't want to get screwed.

26mph over speed limit mandatory court date upcoming in

Live in Memphis, but I have a mandatory court date in Oakland TN on 64 for my speeding ticket marked at 71mph in a 45mph area. When pulled over, she asked me how fast I was going and why I was going that fast. I responded saying that I felt as if I was going the flow of traffic (which I really was) and that I was en route to deliver an order to a customer. I also informed her that this was my first time in the area which is also true.

She seemed unfazed and wrote me the ticket with a mandatory court date. I've never had to attend a traffic court date of this level so I'm afraid of potential punishments. What can I do to better my chances?

What are they filming on Poplar?

Last night there were police escorting a mobile movie set driving down Poplar around Perkins. Today the same westbound stretch of Poplar was marked off for cameras. Anyone know what they’re filming?

    Dad musicians

I’m a rock and metal drummer. Where are my fellow dads or single dudes with their shit together to jam or possibly have a small band?

Craigslist is either full of pros who want to go on the road or bums who just want to smoke and go nowhere.

Tried Vampr to no avail too.

    What’s with the drink hustle?

I often see teens or young adults selling bottles of drinks at intersections. This cannot be very profitable. What’s the real hustle?

Edit: Fair enough, I’ve never considered how much they are selling the drink bottles for because I’m never going to be a customer. There are like 7 kids out selling so, I’m still thinking it’s still not that much per kid per hour. Perhaps I’m wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time nir the last. Of course I wouldn’t rather them be out stealing. I’d rather them be out being kids though. Standing on a street corner all day sounds miserable and dangerous. Thanks for your responses!

    My visit to BBQ Shop

So, it was good. The meat itself was tasty but killed by heavy handed saucing. Potato salad was better than expected. The Fireside was unexpected bonus.

The BBQ spaghetti… more like Spaghettios with chopped pork.

    Mobile mechanic?

Does anyone know of (or better yet—are you) a good mobile mechanic?

My car is losing power on acceleration.

I thought it was a clogged air filter so I took it to Firestone (I know, I know).

They said I had a leak in my transmission but couldn’t tell me where.

My car barely made it home.

I’m in East Memphis near Audobon Park.

    Anyone? Please?

where can I get NOT mushy BBQ spaghetti?

I’ve had BBQ shop’s spaghetti twice and each time it was mushy as hell. like inedibly mushy, it was wiggling and jiggling on the plate when they set it down. Folks online were talking it up and judging from the pics that’s pretty much how it’s served, do yall really like it like that? fr??

Is there a place that serves bbq spaghetti where the spaghetti isn’t overcooked?

UofM and Other Large Places Accessibility Thought

I've had friends who visited museums while their vision was impaired. They wore a headset that told them everything they were passing. When I visited the UofM years ago, I thought that maybe a similar system would be beneficial. People might not want the headphones continuously calling out every building they pass, but it would be cool if the school could install a system where visitors who need it can have a button loaned to them. Each time the button is pressed, a voice would say the name of the nearest building and where it is. This is obviously an expensive idea, but just a thought.

Civic Hackathon in a few weeks - $5K in prizes

The city is hosting a hackathon with $5K in prizes in a couple weeks. The focus of the hackathon is:

    1. reducing blight and improving neighborhood cleanliness

    2. rethinking transportation services to improve access to jobs

    3. developing new ideas for how the City can effectively leverage AI and Smart City technology to improve services.

This is a pretty good opportunity if you're a student, career changer, activist, etc. Whether you want a new project to put on your resume, finally build out something you've been thinking about, or just want to meet some new people, this is a good place to do all of the above. There will be some training sessions and mentoring too. I'll be volunteering Saturday and can answer any questions people have.
