I just wanted to say the people working the polls were amazing. They really went out of their way to acknowledge the new voters. Everyone was respectful no matter which way they voted.
Coming from an outside state where only a matched signature on a screen was required to get a fill in the bubble to vote.. it was refreshing to see how secure this process was. The poll workers explained the process to each and every person without sounding like they were annoyed.
Just confirmed again why I am glad we made the transition.
I live in Tennessee, a state that requires an ID to vote. My last ID expired yesterday. I need to go to the DMV to get a new one, but I'm afraid that, because I owe about $6000 in fines and fees that I haven't been able to pay for four years, that there might be a warrant out for me. It was all misdemeanor charges that have already been judged, I just haven't been able to pay the resulting fines and fees. I've been at my current address for 4 years. I've even had civil papers served on me from the county I owe fines to (it was for a medical bill I've now paid off...one of the reasons I haven't paid my fines). I haven't been hiding. So...am I crazy for worrying, or what?
Please watch/read the entire thing. I don't like many of the book-banning school board members but this was done in strict accordance with new state law (thanks, Susan Lynn!) with protecting our educators kept in mind.
