Im looking for singleplayer or local multiplayer card games that can be modded, like making custom cards and such.
I want something with gameplay like traditional tcg's or ccg's but without competitive online modes and mod support.
Is there a game like that?
I've recently become hyperfixated on card games but idk if its just me but it feels like online pvp card games are kind of dying out? Marvel Snap is doing well and is really fun and Pokemon TCG Pocket is fun, but are there any other games? I really like LOR but its basically dead when it comes to PVP. Would love any recommendations for new and old digital PVP card games that are still active!
Edit: Gonna try some of the games from the comments thank yall a lot! Just downloaded MTGA and it actually seems pretty fun and like a good replacement for LOR
Can anyone give any recommendations for more unconventional card games? I'm more referring to singleplayer adventure (not roguelike) type games that have card collecting and deck building as a mechanic, but their own unique combat systems.
The best examples I can give are Megaman Battle Network, Library of Ruina and Kingdom Hearts chain of memories.
Nowadays it feels like all card games either follow a mtg-like style or slay the spire-like style.
So I started playing hearthstone last year and was having some serious fun vs mtg arena, but one thing that stuck with me was this: in mtg arena I can make any deck I want if I have the wildcards but dust( to create legos) seems to come slower or could be much more $$.
Would I need to drop like $300 a set to get all the legendary cards per expansion?
So I played a whole ass card game back in the mid 2013-16 and it was an anime inspired game about a school and each deck was a different club. Can’t remember the name but I was wondering if anyone else played it or remembers it.
If i can dust cards, I'll craft them, then regret it, then dust it, till i am at 0 dust 😭 So games like hearthstone and yugioh master duel are bad for me Oh yeah and i already play lor 😁
Yo, I've hopped around every card game and keep coming back to Hearthstone, my first love. I'm playing less and less and i've tried moving on, but Snap and MTG:A felt predatory, and though I'm enjoying the Bazaar, auto battlers have never scratched the same itch as competitive PvP does. Do you guys have any games you can recommend? Extra props if it's also not a rougelike. I love cross blitz and slay the spire, but I'd really like something that feels like a TCG
Hello everyone. Can someone recommend a CCG game that following next requirenments:
In short, looking for a really good alternative to Gwent and Hearthstone.
I played Gwent and currently have all existing cards in the game + all of them animated. Since gwent is no longer maintainable by developers and player base dropped, as well a point of PvP. Not a good choice. Hearthstone goes down the same way, devs don't care about the game anymore, same decks, no nerfs for months. So now I started LoR, game feels alright, but feels very empty like no one play this game anymore and simplicity of UX/UI make you think devs don't care about the game either. Not sure about these words, since I tried to google player base of LoR and other things, but found nothing.
What digital card games have you been playing, and what do you think of it?
Feel free to share your thoughts and use this community thread to ask questions, seek suggestions, give recommendations, discuss, or share anything else related to r/DigitalCards and games!
There used to be a bunch of collectible "card" sets (it wasn't really a game, you'd just collect/trade the pretty pixels) that you would have to set up your own webpage to display your collection, and usually you'd make a new email to conduct trades? There were rules about how to earn new cards, and there were sets from all sorts of random things, Final Fantasy, Harvest Moon... But I can't seem to figure out if these silly browser tcg's still exist? I feel like this was around 2008 and everyone's collection page was just on geocities or something.

We are a small publisher. So we would be very happy to get your feedback as experienced digital card gamers.
I am hoping someone might be able to find a resource that still shows all the cards. I cant seem to find it and have sent the devs an email last night.
Im wanting to develop a similar game so reviewing their cards would help a lot
If you've ever played Alteil before, I recreated the game. The game is completely free with no in-game purchase.

Sorry in advance if this isn't the right forum for asking this.
I've been playing mostly idle games for the past years, but MTG Arena has peaked my curiosity for trying it out. The only digital CCG I've played was Marvel Snap for like a year at the start of the game, and Hearthstone for like a few games back around the time it was released as well. I also have no prior knowledge of Magic as well, as in, I've never played the actual card game.
Is it the right game for me to try?
I need a good card game that's easy to get the cards. I've played gwent, yugioh, magic, hearthstone and pokemon. It feels like ages to get a few cards that I need for a deck makes the game so much slower paced so I need a game that's easy and fast to get the cards I need.
Anyone got a Recommendation?
hello i've always wanted to play a card game competitively but never had the motivation to learn and invest in a game
i tried most of the digital ones before for a short period of time - magic arena, yu gi oh master duel, snap, hearthstone and gwent -
i have enough time now to get into one but i don't know which is worth it rn
all i want is less rng and a good competitive scene, also the deck building is important cause i usually won't be following meta decks i want to try and build my own
ty

I’m kind of drifting in the digital card game world. Currently dipping my toes into HS, Marvel Snap, and Clash Royale (not so much a card game). Out of these, Marvel Snap gives me the most enjoyment. But something in the game still fells like it’s not a 100% for me, but maybe.
I’m looking for a healthy, decently popular with a proper active player base, a proper comp scene because in addition to playong the game, I wanna watch tournaments as well.
Currently I’d love to start playing pokemon tcg, because Pokemon is close to my heart. My issue is, tcg live doesnt seem to have that big of a space on the market and the comp scene is not really there. Maybe you guys can prove me wrong on this one? Also, the new upcoming Pokemon TCG Pocket seems really really promising, but seems to lean more on the collecting aspect, and it makes me wonder - why is there Live, and now Pocket?? What’s the goal here?
MTGA could be a possible candidate since it has a big scene and a comp scene (i think), but as far as I know, you need to spend insane amounts of money to play (competitively?).
Edit: I’m also aware of Legends of Runeterra, but from what I’ve heard, it’s going to maintenance mode which sounds very bad. The game doesn’t seem to have Twitch presence either which usually means bad things.
Thats pretty much the card games I know.
What I’m hoping to get out of this is kind of sales pitches from you guys, as to why I should or shouldn’t play a game.
What I’m looking for is:
I'm looking for a fun digital card game with competitive PvP and a large active community. I really enjoyed Legends of Runeterra (LoR) but with PvP no longer being developed I feel like I need to find a new long-term home.
Out of all the options I feel like either Hearthstone or MTG Arena could be the best fit for me. I've heard good and bad things about each but can't decide which to invest my time into.
Which one would you play right now in 2024 and why?
Hey everyone!
I'm super excited to start this dev diary series and share a game I've been working on: Duelfront.
Imagine commanding your own units on a 5x6 battlefield, every card play a tactical decision that could outsmart your opponent. That's exactly what I've created with Duelfront — a fast-paced game where card strategy meets map tactics.
I love playing games like chess, Civilization, and various RTS titles. These games have amazing map strategy elements that make me feel like a commander, planning moves and outsmarting opponents. The spatial thinking and intuitive gameplay in these games have always captivated me.
Card games are also a big passion of mine. I enjoy the strategic duels, planning ahead, and the excitement of drawing just the right card. But I noticed that most card games don't include map strategy elements. That got me thinking: why not combine them?
In card games, strategies usually fall into two types:
Duelfront focuses on the setting and solving puzzles aspect. This approach makes players feel smarter and more strategic, which fits well with our game mechanics.
Duelfront brings together the strategic depth of map control with the excitement of card games. Here's how:
By integrating these elements, every move becomes a tactical choice. You're not just playing a card; you're deploying units on a battlefield, considering terrain and enemy positions. This creates dynamic gameplay where you and your opponent are constantly setting and solving new challenges.
I also wanted Duelfront to be quick and accessible. Inspired by games like Marvel Snap, I've designed it with:
PS: Duelfront is quiet different from Snap. Players take turns playing cards instead of playing simultaneously, and cards have attack ranges that allow them to engage enemy units directly on the map.
The Duelfront demo is now available until October 22! Don’t miss your chance to play.
