One of the things I loved about this game was the creativity you could use to make decks and this OTK battlemage was one of my favorites. Although it wasn't a good deck it was still very fun. RIP to the best card game ever!
How did I win this. I was outnumbered and at one point I had 0 cards on the field whilst having less than 5 hp.

Text: Betray Choose a creature in your deck. Create a copy of that creature in your discard pile and give it +1/+1.
Overview
This card causes a some controversy because of its combo with Reanimate + Alduin/Paarthurnax. However, I've really enjoyed using the card in control with Gray Viper Brigand, since you can create a draw engine and draw 5-6 cards per Brigand, and by being in control we can use it to just grab any card in our deck later in the game with Soul Tear.
With Odirniran Necromancer, you can grab powerful 1 power creatures like Territorial Viper or Faded Wraith.
I've seen it also used in Consume decks, with Haj Mota, with Gearwork Spider.

Damn, just saw the News. I quit playing when it went on life support, but thought it was cool how you guys kept it alive.
In my opinion was the best card game ive ever played. Think i had 2k hours or something crazy in Legends. And we also had a really good community on Twitch for a good while.
Content creators such as Turquoiselink, Ianbits, Eyenie (vodka streams). Thanks for the memories. Prob forgotten a few.
All the best for the future to everyone Hope to see you in the next good card game. Might have to wait a while..

Territorial Viper (4) 1/1
Type: Creature - Reptile
Text: Charge, Lethal
Overview
This card is a staple removal card for a large number of agility decks. It's versatile and interacts with core mechanics in interesting ways.
Generally it's also run alongside Odirniran Necromancer and Black Worm Neophyte who are able to recur it and use it as removal again.
Notable Decklists
This card is in a large number of agility decks (I'd estimate 25% of them), so there's probably 10s of thousands more decks with Viper in them. Feel free to post your decks below.

Poor guy probably playing off a Pacific Island or something, hopefully he comes back! Lol.
I cannot make a new account due to the game being removed from Steam (Game has been removed from the Steam Store btw) and the game won't let me change accounts or make a new one, and attempting to do the base story mode is impossible since I cannot watch the post match choice videos/final video.
I did manage to, like, watch the wolves one once, because for some reason that was not ticked/completed according to my game, but after making that choice I can't watch that scene anymore either, and I have no idea why it was unticked.
Given the fact these story modes are about to become lost media, I was trying to at least make one VOD of all of them/each of them to later post on Youtube, which is quite difficult to do if we've lost all the "post match" animations already as is.
Anyway, sorry for the ramble, devastated this game is about to be lost to us.
Unstoppable Rage (8)
Type: Action
Text: A friendly creature deals damage equal to its power to all other creatures in its lane.
Overview
This card is the key card for red control strategies, and usually functions as both a board wipe and a win condition usually in conjunction with a high power creature with breakthrough.
Legend players at high levels stay consistently mindful about overloading a lane with too many creatures when they're against a red control deck. This card was nerfed from 7 mana to 8 mana, and has still remained a strong card.

Anyone found one yet? Tried Hearthstone, just wasn't feeling it.
I played a fair amount of Legends a year or so ago, but in the meantime I have changed computers and did not have Legends installed on the new one. I go to boot it up again before it's gone for good and... it doesn't seem like I have a way to play it now except for mobile? I did not think they would delist it before it was gone for good.
Is there a way to download the game on PC now or am I stuck to my tiny phone screen for the final hurrah?
I ran into a player that was the trifecta of asshole moves, spammed emotes, played invade, let time run until the end every move. Good riddance!
Fifth Legion Trainer (2) 1/3
Type: Creature - Imperial
Text: When you summon another creature, give it +1/+0.
Overview
This card is the backbone of yellow aggro decks whether that is tokens or math crusader. I have fond memories of Fifth legion trainer because I played spellsword tokens for 7 months straight during Heroes of Skyrim without touching other decks.
Rolling out with a marked man on 1, fifth legion trainer on 2 and the yellow ally on 3, was a very strong opener for the tokens deck which focused on "aggroing the board". The deck's strategy was to dictate early trades in the field lane, before just fully focusing face.

Post your favorite card and why!
I think our best chance may be coordinating an email campaign, we could reach out to a few individual employees and urge them to make available the tools and data necessary for the fans to maintain TESL going forward. I think it is unrealistic to ask Bethesda to keep the servers live indefinitely or to dedicate development effort to make the game, but the greatest strength of Bethesda's mainline games has always been the community and as a company they have proven consistently supportive of the mod and community projects that really breathe life into their games.
If Skyrim players can figure out how to make that game multiplayer, I'm sure we could cobble together a way for players to locally host TESL games. We just need Bethesda to release the tools and data to make that possible...
Maybe they'd be willing to release everything back to sparkypants to get an offline version made... I'd be willing to pay like $40 to get a "Forgotten Hero Edition" or something with offline capability and local hosting for multiplayer.
Hello! I’m a long time The Elder Scrolls fan, although I’ve only played Oblivion and Skyrim I’ve always loved the lore and setting. Recently I’ve decided to play through every single TES game, and I was originally gearing up for Morrowind before it was announced that Legends is shutting down soon. I’ve never played it, but I would like to complete it before it goes away! What do I need to do to fully complete the story mode? I know it’s a card game, but I’m not sure if there are secrets or side quests/content like other TES games or not. Also, if you think it would be possible to 100% the entire game before January 30th (assuming I’ve never really played a card game before), what would that entail? Would it be possible?
Thank you for any help and tips. I’m really sorry to longtime fans who are having something they love being taken away from them, and I hope to be able to experience the game for myself before the plug is pulled!
Entire strat out the window, lemme see those face points
Never even realized this subreddit existed, but here we are; there's a first time for everything, even at the end.
I've been loving TESL as a casual game since 2017- as a 26 year old, that's about all of my adult life. It's taught me a lot more than Magic has about good card game design, it's given me a game to play that's not Hearthstone, and most importantly, it's shaped my mentality on the idea of a Legend- but we'll get to that soon.
The want to keep TESL alive is not surprising to me at all, but the desperation really is. I see the petition posts, I see the vye to put TESL on ESO's servers, I see the push to make Tabletop Sim work, and most surprisingly, I even see the people ask, "the Chinese version... can I play that?"
When we want to keep the game alive, we want two things; the gameplay, and the community. The gameplay is more than deck-building and decision-making; it's the compelling music, the eye-catching art, and the dedicated integration into the lore of a 30-year-old franchise. A community can be made anywhere; quite a shame that it takes time, but we all need it. I don't think any other CCG will match TESL in strategy, music, art, or lore; but at least we can find community on other games. (Ideally, even, we find community at friendly local game stores, but that's a different post.) If Bethesda wanted to keep Legends around, they would have acted quicker; I get the feeling that most people in charge are just tired of it.
No game you find is going to bring you the joy that this one does; It's okay to accept the fate of Legends. We really shouldn't be surprised that an online CCG that hasn't gotten new content for five years is kicking the bucket; honestly, I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. We really can't be mad at Sparky or Bethesda that they're stopping a service that is losing them money. We can be mad at them for not fixing Invade, the real game-killer; but just like Talym Rend learned, we cannot change the past. I'd like us all to face defeat with smiles on our faces.
I don't think it's a stretch to say that the game's intro is what enraptured us into playing. The story of the Forgotten Hero is a brilliant hook to gameplay, but it also signifies what the name of the game is. The Forgotten Hero, three times over, is a legend through and through. The game gives us all the ability to be legends; it's even the first title that we're given.
The passion to save the game is great, but it needs content to work long-term; content we've been missing for too long. By dedicating ourselves to long shots to save the game, we are tainting our legacy. I'm choosing to take the shut down in stride, and I hope I'm not alone here. I'm using my last three months to truly be a legend, and climb the meta that I had really never cared about. Frankly, I've never been determined to do a lot- but determination in TESL's waning hours feels good. I'm showing this not gain views- it's just a little more comforting to climb with friends watching.
My videos will not polished or high quality... but I hope it puts the "sweet" in "bittersweet".
And finally- there is one way to attain your Legendhood. Every single person who plays in this tourney will be remembered, even if they lose in the first round. I don't think a TESL player can watch this video and not feel compelled to give it their all before we all Journey to Sovngarde. If there is one time where to give it your all, it's right here.
Do you really want to fight being a Legend? Or do you want to march with me, to the end of the world?
I've been playing this game for a while, although with gaps but still... I like it. Decision to shut it down permanently without allowing people to keep access to solo content is just cruel. My programming skills are trash as for me, but I'll try my best to recreate TES legends offline content(although It'll probably also look like trash lol, but attempt is still an attempt). These three remaining months might be enough for me to screenshot each card, keyword, board effect, solo adventures etc. How long will it take after? No idea, honestly, definitely more that a month or two. Plus I'll probably have to figure out stuff with Bethesda copyright to not get in trouble.
So I just started playing ESL. I downloaded it on Steam on October 31st. The day before it was taken off apparently. I didn't know that it would be taken off Steam and that they would be shutting down the servers.
I absolutely adore Elder Scrolls lore and to have found something quick, fun, and inviting like ESL just to feel like it's being ripped away has been heart breaking.
The only solace is that packs are 1 septim a piece now, even for the huge sixty pack bundles. As of typing this I have 1,434 packs to open and 280 septims to go.
I don't mean to get weepy so if you read this thank you. If not that's OK too.
TL:DR I'm sad.
Hello,
I am going to try to do one of these each day through to the end, covering cards that I think are strong, unique or fun. I'll ask that if anyone has a cool deck with any of these cards to post it, since pretty much everyone can now craft every deck.
Daggerfall Mage (3) 2/2
Type: Creature - Breton
Text: Ward When Daggerfall Mage's Ward is broken, put a Tome of Alteration into your hand.
Overview
This card was the backbone of blue midrange decks when legends started, and is still a formidable card in midrange decks to this day.
It has had its fair share of controversy, as the rule of thumb for cards for cards were that epics tended to be good in multiple decks, and legendaries would go into a specific deck. But honestly you could shove daggerfall mage anywhere and it would be good, and especially good in midrange.
Any player that calls themselves a midrange player, likely has fond memories of this card.
