[OT] Kurt Kostecki Racing Ironman WA

10 seconds behind P1 in the M25-29 age group at the 10.7km mark. For those unaware, Ironman is a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42.2km run. Kurt swam a 67min and then laid down a 4:37 bike split and is on track to break 3:00 for the marathon. Not bad for a first Ironman!

Flashback to Bathurst 2000

SkySport here in New Zealand are showing the 2000 Great race. The battle between Neil Crompton and Mark Skaife was classic. With a car three laps down interfering in the scrap. But, it highlighted for me how good a driver Crompton was in his day. Credibility!

Wildcards

With how well the Lowndes/Murray combo done in the enduros, it got me thinking now that Frosty is going to be back at Tickford could they do the same thing? maybe also Groves with GT? I really like the idea of a super experienced driver with a young guy and also at the same time I want more cars on the track so if they could get the sponsorship for the cars what would be the drawbacks?

American noob

All,

I’m a bit of a noob to Australian V8 supercars. Do you guys have any YouTube channels that I can subscribe to to get more into this league?

Drivers who were weirdly good this season?

I reckon the title explains itself. Who was a driver in the 2024 season who you thought did surprisingly well compared to what you usually expect of that driver?

Personally, I was kinda surprised to realise that James Golding finished 7th in points. I’ve tended to barely even remember him even being on track, let alone having a quietly successful season

The final race of 2024 exposed a problem with playoff races that Supercars need to account for

First off, this is not about whether Feeney deliberately took out Mostert or not. Nor is it about whether Mostert should have let him past. That's a different discussion and I don't really want to rehash that argument here.

What that incident did show though, is that Supercars penalty system is possibly not ready for playoffs. Let's say (for argument's sake) that Feeney did take out Mostert on purpose so Brown could win the race.

What is Supercars going to do about that case next year?

  • Should Supercars looks at team points deductions or team exclusions in cases where a playoff driver is taken out (deliberately or not)?
  • How do you prove that the opposition was taken out so a team mate can win the championship? Does intent matter?
  • How would you ideally like this scenario handled if that's how it plays out next year?

In some ways this is similar to the GM and Toyota teams in NASCAR colluding to block or lose places to secure playoff spots and the fans there are fairly unanimous that the response from NASCAR on that was inadequate. Some of the more vocal fans even called it "fixed".

In my mind, I think that the current system in Supercars is not adequate. A punishment on the driver who took someone out is irrelevant when a potential championship contender gets removed from the race. I think Supercars need to come up with a solution to this and make it clear before next season starts.

Does anyone recognize these signatures?

I'm sorry if this isn't a proper post. Just trying to figure out who signed this hat. Any help would be much appreciated.
