Hey just wondering what you guys think of a 2003 Toyota Avalon csx Sorrento for a first car iv tried doing my own research but any videos or sites I find talk about the Avalon XLE I’d assume there’s not much difference but I’m not car savvy so would just like to double check
Hello everyone! I’m needing to upgrade my current car since I need to tow a horse float, and ideally would prefer an SUV over a Ute because I often go on toll roads. A functioning boot is also important since it will be my daily driver. Budget is max 50-55k. Please shoot me your recommendations through for both new and used and what I should avoid. Was looking at a 2018/2019 Touareg and Q7 but unsure on reliability etc. also going to be towing around 2000 - 2100kg.
Before I get roasted, the tyre wasn’t old nor was it flat. I look after the car and always pretty vigilant with that stuff. Only explanation is I went on something without knowing? I just felt the need to share as I was dumbfounded when I saw it. Also putting this in the meme flair as it’s so beyond fucked up.
Just wondering what all of your thoughts are on posting a used car for sale on either platform.
I'm trying to sell a pretry niche car on FB- a manual 370GT Skyline for honestly a really good price, but it just hasn't sold yet..
I am out in the market for a RAV4 Crusier Hybrid and have visited a couple of dealerships. They seem keen to negotiate. For a driveaway price of $56694, they pretty much straightaway offered to go for a round $55000. Which makes me think if there is more room for negotiation and by how much? There are at least 5 more dealerships around me and I am happy to do a bit of back and forth, if it means saving a couple of grand.
TL;DR how much were you able to negotiate on the final price of a RAV4?
Hello! I wanted to ask if you could share your experience with owning an import car. How was it for repairs and insurance? What car did you choose? Why did you choose it over a locally sold car? Would you do it again? Or if you haven't done it, whay car would you go for?
I have a 2012 LEXUS convertible. I bought it brand new from the LEXUS dealer. It's been a fabulous car to drive, low Ks, has always been garaged overnight, serviced regularly etc. I am happy to keep driving it for a few more years. I noticed recently that the paintwork on the drivers side door has started to crackle. This is a bit of a surprise considering it spends 90% or more of it's time in the garage. I didn't notice this on any other part of the car.
I took it to a panel beater/paint sprayer to have them look at it with a view to possibly get it re painted. He asked when I had been in an accident. I said never. He said that there was evidence of bondo (?) and that it was in more than one spot indicating damage in more than one area.
Obviously there was some damage to the car before I bought it. I could have been in delivery or when they had it. I think I got it with 50kms on the clock. Also the repair job was obviously not completely up to new car standard, as these areas have deteriorated where other paint areas - not damaged are fine.
After 12 years what are my options?
Should the dealer have been honest with me pre purchase about the accident and damage? Or am I out of luck?
Should I contact the dealer first, or go to LEXUS head office?
I guess I'm really disappointed in the LEXUS company as I really valued their brand. Feeling a bit let down.
Looking to sell my manual petrol LandCruiser prado 2006. Got it in 2017, was crunching into 3rd, which fixed with double clutching. And now starting to crunch into 4th. Just wanna get some quotes to see if its worth fixing. Cheers!
I’m buying a used car interstate from Adelaide and can’t get there to see it in person. I’d like to have an RAC inspection done, but they’ll only do it at their workshop in Mile End, and the seller is far away from there, and RAC don’t offer pick up. I’m reluctant to ask the seller to drive it an hour across town and back on a contingency.
Anyone know of a good private inspection mechanic that can do on-site in Adelaide?
Hi everyone I'm trying to figure out when and how to sell a rare car. I believe it's one of 5 in Australia.
I imported it 5 years ago and had it compliance plated but never registered. it was left garaged and never driven in Australia (I stayed overseas). Would anyone be able to tell me worth putting registration on it for selling?
Is now a good time to put on the market too? I can wait for 6 months if the market now isn't good (garage space runs out then)
I'm selling it for retirement reasons and probably I won't be in Australia for the transaction...would it be worth getting an auction to handle the trade? Any recommendations will be appreciated!
I drove it overseas before I imported it and had dreams of driving it locally. But at this stage I'm not expected to be living in Australia for some time.
Ive been looking at a 2011 Alfa Romeo 159 1750TBi for my first car but I cant find many forums online that talk about it. Ive heard somethings about needed it to be serviced often and the maintenance costs being high. The car has 130,000 km on it and its listed for $15,000 AUD. Just looking for some thoughts and advice. Maybe even some better recommendations for a first car under $20k AUD.
Was getting some quotes for a weekend car (for this example a 2007 NC MX-5) and the agreed value maximum was around $8k. Alternative was to choose market value with a slightly lower premium.
Now market value for these are at least $13k - probably more.
Got me thinking, what would be the out for the insurance company not to pay out market value ?
Or was this just an anomaly in the system ?
I’m looking at buying a car interstate (I reside in Sa but the car is in VIC) but has a few mods done, so I was wondering if there was anyway I could get a rough idea on if it would pass or not. I just want to make sure I have a good chance of passing before I go and buy it. (I’m not sure on what passes or not). Here’s the mod list let me know what you think.
Hi all,
I have a 2008 Toyota Camry Altise which is in perfect condition apart from the security alarm randomly going off for no apparent reason. Sometimes it'll be months between it doing it, sometimes it'll be days. I've contacted numerous mechanics and auto electricians trying to find someone to help me fix the issue, all I get told is variations of "sorry but that's not my area of expertise, and I can't recommend anyone who can help". Pretty desperate to get this fixed as it keeps going off at random times (including overnight). Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do or who I can contact to get it fixed? Thanks in advance.
PS. I'm on the Sunshine Coast (QLD)
K&N Performance air filter worth the roughly 5x more price tag then a disposable ryco one?
Hey everyone,
I’ve just purchased a new Hyundai Palisade (top-end model with tan interior), and I’ll be taking delivery in about a week. I’m based in Sydney, around Epping Road. I'm looking to get ceramic coating, window tints, and a dash cam installed right away. The dealership quoted me $3,390 for the whole package.
Does this sound like a fair price, or would I likely get a better deal by going to a local shop for these add-ons? I’d appreciate any advice from anyone who’s had similar work done, especially recommendations on where to go in Sydney or what to look for in terms of quality and service.
Hi reddit think tank! A 2017 bmw SUV I short listed a while back just went got its priced slahed 3 times from 37 to 31k in less than a week. It's a decent example, been on sale since July, full service history and is at a reputable chain dealer (not dodgy backyard sellers)
I think this is one of those "let me check my crystal ball situation", the dealership is obviously desperate to offload the car.
But based on everyone's past buying experience, would you swoop in and start the negotiations or wait a little bit more?
TIA :D
Has anyone had good or bad experiences with a Car Broker ? What about a Car Broker who can organise finance or would I be better off organising that myself for a better finance deal ?
Are they worth it ?
Any recommendations on who you’ve used ?
Reason I’m looking at maybe using a broker is to save time. The make and model I’m looking for I’ve noticed has a wider selection interstate at a more competitive price even if you allow transport cost. I just don’t have time to call around and arrange inspections (dealership not private)
I listed a listing on FB Sunday and I've had nothing but scammers insisting they need a history check from a specific site. I've taken to starting with the following schpeel. Would you be offended by it as a legit potential buyer?
"Yes it is [available] I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but I'd just like to get something out of the way first.
I hope you're not going to try and get me to go to a specific non government website for a history check! I jest, but I've been dealing with scammers for days! I mean no offence if you're serious. I've just gotta weed these people out."
It seems to be working like a charm. I just hope I haven't scared off any legit enquiries.
Hey everyone, this is my first time buying a car and don't know much about Australian car market. I found this car on FB market, looks fairly cheap considering it is just 160.000km. Last RWC inspection was on late Nov and it was 2.000$. It is valid until Jan. Does that means maintaining this car will be that pricey all the time and is it not feasible to buy this car at all? Thanks for any suggestions and advices in advance
So. I want to buy my second car after my Micra. I am in my mid 20s and am not eager to splash a lot on a car. Because I know that in the future I might need to care for more people I want to buy an SUV now to have the SUV experience and go with a estate later on. I do some skiing so an SUV will be beneficial. The thing is I want an older car as I will be stressed about damaging the new one. So, I see that a Q5 and an RAV4 Mazda CX-5 or CR-V are similar priced, but I suspect that the German will be less reliable and more expensive in the span of 3-5 years. Is this true? How much if any will it be more expensive?
