Empty apartments, office and retail spaces, with a homeless man huddling in the slightly sheltered area.
Downtown is getting worse everyday and they only clean it up when there's a large public event that draws in visitors.
So, I'm a transplant. I'm from the midwest (St. Louis) & used to going to 'hood' spots where I'd hear trap/rap/hip-hop music playing consistently, either bar/club. But since moving here, most of the stuff I hear at places are like indie, pop, EDM, etc. I don't have anything against those genres, I listen to some myself, but I can't really vibe to them. The places I would frequent in STL would be predominately urban, I'd be 1 of a few white folks there, & they played trap/rap music only for the most part (young dolph, thugger, rich homie quan, Guwop, etc.). Are there ANY places like that in the city or do I have to go to Oakland/East Bay for that experience?
I’m in SF swiping on tinder and the majority of the women I’m seeing are named Kimberliy. Anyone else notice this? I can’t be the only one
I go to SFSU, and have rarely been in Oakland, and when I have i’m almost always in a car. I’m extremely broke right now, literally $0 to my name. Only reason I was in Oakland was to sell my headphones for food money as my EBT is messed up (but that’s a different story) anyways. I get off at Fruitvale, only to find out I was supposed to get off at West Oakland to meet the facebook buyer. Here’s the issue, I at this point have 90 cents to my name, three quarters and 15 cents on my clipper card. This whole time i’m trying to call family/friends, he’s trying to sell candies in broken english, very polite but it seemed at first he didn’t understand my “being broke” was not just an excuse to have him leave me alone (though I was getting somewhat annoyed. To make matters even worse, before I get a hold of anyone, my phone dies, so all I have is my SFSU ID (free muni for anyone wondering how i got there, and the buyer was going to meet me right outside the station so I’d be able to buy a ticket back to SF). At this point i’m in tears practically, the man offers to sell me candy again (i believe he just didn’t recognize that he already tried with me) and through my tears i just half mumble that im broke and can’t afford any of your candy. However, at this point, he starts trying to have me explain my situation, and though I know no spanish and he seems to understand English somewhat better but still struggles, he connnects that i’m stuck, and need $4 about to get home. I figured he’d wish me best of luck, which would be understandable as my lack of preparedness and financial issues are (understandably) not his problem. However, he leads me to the machine to add clipper card fare, and despite my insistence, he pays all $4 for me. A man who is making money by selling candy for 50 cents a piece, doesn’t hesitate to spend who knows how long he worked, just to make sure i get home safely. To top it off I practically beg for his phone number so i can pay him back. He insists to just pass it on, but i believe he also deserves at the very least, recognition for what be did today. He let me get his picture and lost it on reddit, but didn’t think people would care since he believes ”anyone would help”.
While most would believe this just is showing some naivety, but I choose to believe instead that this is a man who believes people are good in this world, and he is easily a perfect example of that.
This man’s name is Runy, and he was a guardian angel for me this afternoon. He’s apparently selling candy around this time and earlier (this was between 6-6:45p.m or so?) if you’re in the area, check him out or just say he’ll
Anyone else hearing this? Sounds like 4th of July came early.
a lot of fireworks
Just fyi
Its always fireworks when you ask whatvyou were gonna ask. GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!
I left it on a table at Breakers at stinson beach on monday - I have an airtag in my wallet, and i've watched it go all along the coast this week until landing outside the presideo golf course restaurant tonight for a good few hours. I was kinda hoping they might drop it off at my house but no cigar. I assume the police do not have the resources to accompany me to find it, so i won't call them. As a woman I'm a bit afraid - but my cards are locked and it's of no use to anyone but me - and the person clearly hasn't looked inside or they'd have taken the airtag out. What would you do?
Edit: DANG after many hours, it just moved and appears to be parked on masonic between euclid and presideo ave....(it's been there for about 30 mins now)...i'll check in the morning and try and get someone at the fire dept to confront them maybe.
The current comprise pilot ends in 2025. The extension (the road south of Sloat) is overdue to be closed because of coastal erosion (was supposed to be 2023). I can’t imagine it going back to just a 365/24/7 road, but it seems some people still want that? What do you think we should do with it? What’s going to happen?
I just had an unpleasant experience. I transferred my clipper card to my phone a while back. I don't take public transport as often anymore since I moved out of the downtown area, but my car was in the shop and I wanted to run errands while it was being fixed.
I couldn't use my clipper though.
Apparently, if you add it to your phone, you have to manually switch it to your new phone, meaning, go into your google wallet or whatever iphone's equivalent is, hold the phones next to each other so they can scan and that's the only way it can be transferred. And if you don't have that phone anymore or can't do that manual transfer, despite the fact your clipper number is still stored in your "wallet", it is gone forever and you have to get a new card issued and sent to you. (plus a fee!)
So if you get a new phone, make sure you transfer your clipper from one phone to the next.
Personally, I was very annoyed by this because it's asinine and the whole point of it being in the cloud is so you don't have to worry about things like losing or breaking your phone - it's still in the cloud. Except with clipper. It's still in the cloud, but then useless because you didn't manually/physically do a transfer process. Ugh.
Don't get stuck like me.
Just head what sounded like 10 police cars going max speed on Mission st. Never seen it at that level before. Nothing on Citizen. Any idea?
I (26 yr old single male) am moving to the Bay Area from NYC. I took a job at a VC firm in Palo Alto, and I’m curious as to where I should be looking to live? Given that I’m mid-20s and single, I’m definitely looking for an active social scene with a manageable commute to the office.
In the whirlwind of the past four years, San Francisco has been the star of some less-than-glowing headlines, leaving many questioning its vibe and the future of our city. Sure, there's some truth in the chaos, but come on, it's not the whole picture!
Here at Dylan’s Tours, we're on a mission to flip the script and showcase the true essence of the city. Our video and upcoming endeavors aim to inject some much-needed fun back into San Francisco.
So, to all the naysayers out there – Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, Ron DeSantis, and all the hater – come on down and let us prove you wrong!
What would you like to say to all the San Francisco haters?
