Looking for grab and go finger food options in Chinatown or nearby areas. Ideally would like to take a stroll and munch along the way. Thank you.
Hi all, trying to gauge if I’m spending too much on food but all the Reddit threads are not as helpful as they’re not in a high cost of living area. Asking this question since sometimes my partner and I take turns paying but we don’t live together. Thanks so much!
Specifically looking for any higher end sushi restaurants that accommodate gluten free? Lots of sushi places will do gluten free but it means they just leave all the sauces off. Anyone doing gf fusion?
Or any high end restaurants that accommodate gf in general ?
Hey everyone, trying again with more detail.
I am looking for short term renting in San Francisco.
I'll be there for 3 months from June to August working a temporary job for my grad degree in south San Francisco.
Budget: 1000-1300 a month rent. Contribution to utilities won't be a problem. As long as I have wifi for my thesis research. (If this isn't doable, I am willing to negotiate) Roommates are cool I am fine with group living as long as I can rent a room (I snore).
Transportation: I'll be making use of your public transportation, ours doesn't really work where I live.
Amenities: As long as there are spots to eat and or local markets within walking distance I will survive.
Area: Anywhere in between Westborough Blvd and Serramonte Blvd. (Heck Daly City to San Bruno.)
Looking for: A private room with bathroom and kitchen access preferred. It can be in an apartment, house, condo, basement or hobbit hole. I am a married 31 year old guy whose husband will be staying back in our home state. I am open to hanging out and getting to know new people. I do smoke weed, and am willing to comply with any smoking rules. I used to be a chef, so I am okay with helping out in the kitchen as well. I don't mind pets and will not be bring any pets.
New apartment and want to buy some big ones but don’t have a car
Posting on behalf of a friend: My friend recently received a job offer in the Bay area and wanted to find a sublease for the summer before finding a proper place to stay. Can someone help me out with any leads? Any WhatsApp groups or Discord servers where I could post this message for greater visibility?
I just saw on Google Maps that there are a lot of universities like UCSF, Golden Gate University, Academy of Art University so I was hoping they could find a sublease for the summer.
Looking for rent around 2k (less is always good haha), private room with or without flatmates. Preferred area is near Chinatown, but no rigid boundaries around that.
Thank you so much in advance!! :))
I believe it's at 3pm tomorrow (1am Saudi Arabia time where the fight takes place).
I'm curious if anyone knows bars/restaurants?
Will their be cover charges?
I have a few names of estate lawyers that I’ve contacted in the past but a couple of them don’t have an office in the city anymore. Waiting for a reply from one more & have another referral. I don’t have a car and would prefer to meet in person vs phone/Zoom.
Relatively simple needs: unmarried, childfree, one property. Already have a DIY health care directive & power of attorney which I’d have them review. Probably want to create a trust.
One estimate so far of ~$4500.
Would prefer a female attorney if possible.
I'm intending to commute to SF from San Jose and I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with these questions. Could you please help me with any insights, please?
Thanks in advance :)
Hello! I’ve just moved to SF and I’m living in the nopa area. I was wondering if anybody on here could point me in the direction of somewhere I could access metalworking equipment (mills, lathes, welders, etc.) primarily to work on a motorcycle. I would appreciate it being nearer to where I’m living, but I also understand nopa’s way more residential, so not expecting much. I’ve heard of a few different maker spaces in the city, but don’t know if there’s other options I haven’t heard of. Open to any and all info, cheers!
Looking for a makeup application / buy products / pay for the application, whatever. Quick and easy are priorities.
I used to go to the Macy's cosmetics department - MAC or Bare Escentials (sp?), even Lancome. I know Sephora will do a full face appointment for $60 and takes an hour.
I haven't done this type of thing in years (pre-COVID). Do they still do this at makeup counters and sell you some products? Is there another quick fix - I don't need a "full face" and I won't have an hour to spare between work and the party.
Where’s your guys’ best spots for cheap pitchers in the city? After years here I can only name one place that does pitchers, mostly bc no one here drinks pitchers.
My girlfriend has agreed to watch me drink 6 by myself so some places with good food would also be nice.
Just looking for rough estimates given the size of your place. Moving to SF next month and want to get a rough idea (I’ll just be in a studio). Thanks!
I used to go to the Toronto Comic Jam often and was wondering if there is anything like this in SF or the surrounding areas? (Basically, artists get together and collaborate on comics... you draw a frame or two then put it back onto the pile so someone else can continue the story)
hiyeee! just moved to the outer richmond. looking for a gym w. a sauna ~~~holler if u kno a place
Hey all,
Did a search and seems like this has been asked with people suggesting it will return in fall, but when I went to Off the Grid for the fall edition last year I was talking to the vendors/organizers and thought they said they would be back for a spring edition maybe in April (obviously not). Does anyone know why it isn't back?
Last year, they had a spring and fall edition, and they did say they closed for summer due to festivals etc., but does anyone know anything about an early-year addition in 2024? Or if it is coming back for the fall? Always seemed really crowded to me, so would be sad for it not to come back!
Hey, planning on moving to San Francisco some time in the next few months and was looking about how to get around. I noticed that the Clipper Card app has the option for monthly passes. 'A' being the one that includes the BART in the city only in addition to MUNI, with 'M' only using MUNI. To anyone that lives in the city, is it easy enough to only entirely use MUNI and not BART at all within the city? I'm not sure whether or not the ~$20 a month is justifiable or if I should just stick with getting the 'M' pass. Additionally, is there anyway to exclude the BART in directions settings for Google Maps or the "Transit" app? Thanks
Looking for local favourite gift ideas- preferably consumable
I'm organizing a work event August and our company is leaving a gift in each attendees hotel room for when they check in. I'd like to do something the locals love/that SF is known for/artisan favourites/visitors can't miss trying, etc. Something consumable would likely be best so they don't have to pack extra items heading home, but open to suggestions!
For example last year this event was in Chicago and we gifted Garretts popcorn
Thanks in advance!
I have applied for the 1649 program for the city of SF about a month ago and still have not gotten a respose. If anyone applied and got chosen for the exam, how soon did you get the response from them? How was the exam if you had the chance to take it?
I've tried doing a bit of research but I'd like to hear from personal experience if anyone has had any luck with specific stores/events? Thank you!! :)
Hey, folks. I'll be visiting SF in June for a conference. I'll be arriving from a 25hrs travel and would like to know if there are any tips you could share with me? I intend to stay near downtown or even in japantown, still trying to decide. Thanks a ton!
Hi! I like to work from coffee shops for an hour or two sometimes but with the weather so nice, it would be perfect to be out in it. I’ve seen a few places with parklets but don’t really want to sit out on the street. Any recs near or in mission? Ty!! ❤️
Hi All,
I am trying to recover my security deposit from my sublet. Context is I never really dealt with the landlord and mostly communicated via the previous tenant (let's call him Mike) regarding move in and move out inspection.
My official last day of contract was Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, while I physically moved out my all items Wednesday, April 24th, with the expectation I would have time to move any remaining items, clean, etc. and do the formal move-out & inspection on April 30th. I communicated this to my former roommate and Mike.
However, I returned to the apartment that Friday, April 26th to tidy up, vacuum, pick up mail and remaining little forgotten items etc. and there was already boxes and items in the living room from the incoming roommate (I was not aware of any incoming roommate), who came out of the bathroom.
Earlier that morning, Mike had asked if I could meet to do the move out inspection that day. I agreed since I had already moved the majority of things and had no reason to return to the place after cleaning that Friday, but I was not aware of the other person until returning to clean. Mike couldn't make it and we ended up rescheduling to do the inspection the following morning of Saturday April 27th, where I patched a few scratches on the wall together with Mike from the stand up desk pushing the computer screen against the wall as it went up and down. The only thing Mike noted who did the walk through with me, were some scratches on the floor from the desk moving. He said the landlord would be in touch with my deposit after assessing the damage and any repair costs for the floor scratch.
Later, on May 6th, Mike texted me that the landlord was still assessing damage and also that he had never charged myself nor my former roommate for utility bills, and that they would be deducted from the security deposit.
Tomorrow, May 18th would be 21 days from my inspection date/key return with Mike. I have the following questions:
I got most information from the SF Tenant's Union and am trying to be prepared with information and documents as much as possible. Any insights in my specific situation are much appreciated!
Anyone have an extra ticket for La Lom at the Chapel tonight?
Thanks
I thought I would be able to get some at Walmart/Safeway/Wholefoods but they don't seem to carry it. Any ideas as to what shops might carry duck? Wanted to try cooking them for the first time.
I live in Duboce Triangle and have a flight out of SFO at 7 am on Sunday.
Do you think the Bay to Breakers road closures will affect my trip to the airport?
I'm confused by the article

Hey guys, I’m coming out to SF for Dore Alley. Any suggestions on the nightlife ? Best parties, clubs? Circuit ? Etc…
Thanks
Hey, me and my partner will be in San Fran this 4th July (from NZ) and are looking for recommendations on what to do!
We have never participated in a 4th July before and have no expectations.
We'd equally enjoy getting amongst some drinks, watching a parade, or catching some fireworks (all things we've seen online), but any reccs on how to approach the day?
Is this pub crawl we've seen online (where you buy a ticket that essentially gives you drink specials and seems like a self guided crawl) any good?
