Yesterday on my way home from work my 05 9-3 stalled out at a red light. The car would crank but not start for roughly 20 minutes then it finally decided to start again. Car did not throw any codes. Any ideas on what it could be? I’m assuming it’s the crank shaft position sensor with how much fuel I’ve been burning through recently as well as the rough idle from time to time. Thank you
Posted in my local FB group but got ignored.
Anyone have experience with AC issues in NG 9-3s? I believe the AC clutch is not engaging (do not see it spinning when AC is on), so I’ve read I need to check the fuse box for it and the relay. Any ideas on which are which in the front fuse box?
Also I may have a hose leak, so I bought some fluorescent dye, but I don’t really know where to put it. I’ve read to put it in the low pressure AC hose (larger diameter tubing running along the left side of the hood, not the high pressure right next to the motor, right?), but the injector area is like a bike tire air inlet in that it’s a small tube that needs to be engaged. I read the PSI of the “low” pressure and it read like 110 and the “high” pressure was around 95, so I think that’s an issue in of itself, because those would read 0 if there was a leak?
Haven’t had AC in awhile, last summer I got the AC “recharged” and it lasted for like 20 minutes, so that’s why I think there’s a leak. When I crank the thermostat, I don’t hear the AC clutch engage, and when I press the “AC off” button so that it highlights, I still don’t hear it engage.
Any tips/insight would be great.
Hello again, I didn't get a proper answer to what I asked, so I'll ask again. My engine light starts blinking when I've started the car and driven for 5 minutes. It feels like the engine has difficulty shifting gears, and the turbo gauge turns red and has trouble accelerating. Sometimes black smoke and a bit of liquid come out of the exhaust pipe. The car is a 2005 Saab 9-5 Aero. However, the engine returns to normal and drives completely normally after it has blinked, but it can do the same thing again after 20 minutes. So, it seems to be an issue with not being able to build pressure in the engine, and it becomes weak. The car is also consuming more fuel. I would appreciate if some expert could help me. I have also replaced the ignition cassette, mass airflow sensor, and crankshaft position sensor a week ago
Hey Guys, I am now the owner of my second 9-3 OG, but an Aero this time. In my previous 9-3, I only had dash and rear 6x9s. In that setup the 6x9 would play the bass. However, when an amp is hooked up: all the bass is played in the 6,5"s in the doors. Is there any way the evenly distribute the bass between 6,5"s and 6x9s? Thanks
Besides the tech 2 what are other alternatives obd readers work for this car because the regular autozone crap ones don’t work
Anyone recon it has more than sentimental value?
good morning all, my 2011 9-3 estate requires an offside rear caliper and carrier. does anybody know if the caliper and carrier on the Vectra of the same era is the same or if they're different? having trouble finding any breakers yards close to me with a 9-3.
I have heard that the og 9-3 exterior parts fit on ng 900. In the future I want to get viggen bumpers and side skirts for my ng 900 convertible and I wanted to make sure that the viggen parts would fit on the ng900.
All advice is welcome
Follow-up to my post about problems after an engine swap in my 2007 9-3 SportCombi Aero B284 - my mechanic recommended I drive it to see if the fuel system codes - P0089 & P2192 - would clear. They did and haven't returned.
Now I'm experiencing hard starts followed by it wanting to die in 1st. After giving it more gas and increasing the revs, I'm able to keep it running until I get it going in 2nd & 3rd gears.
Here are the codes after the hard starts.
P0192 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input
P0300 & P0301, P0303, P0305, P0351, P0353 & P0355 - Cylinder Misfires Detected
Iron_Regal recommended I check the battery first which checked out fine. Before I do anything else, what's the thought on replacing Part #12791308 Battery Main Switch and/or the positive battery cable as possible sources of electrical issues.
The yellow kill button is completely broken off on the top of 12791308.
And copper wiring is exposed on the cable from the fuse box to the Main Switch.
All polished up n back on...no leaks after a spirited drive.....jobs a good un!
Ok so on my Saab 9-3 2006 i think most likely the icm2 is dead. No light coming out of the Amp1, and sometimes my speedometer is not working correctly. Can the bad icm2 interfere with my dashboard/speedometer?
I have chatted to the guys at the garage about the wheels as I know from this group this could have been the issue from when they have been change last. The guys at the garage said it all looks fine and correct. So what could it be, is this something I could fix myself?
Hey guys, I'm wondering why my engine light starts flashing every time I start the car and drive for about 5 minutes, then it turns off and the car works normally. What could be the cause? When I check with an OBD tool, it says there's a misfire in the cylinder. What should be fixed, since after the engine light flashes, the car drives completely normally. Could it be something wrong with the turbo?
Does anybody have a clue what this could be, seems to be going away when you are driving on higher speeds in a higher gear but it's the most noteable in first.
Does anybody still do proximity fob reprogramming in the UK? I've got a 2010 9-5 with only one proximity fob, I've managed to source a new fob however I'm struggling to find anywhere to either supply a new fob and program it as they're in such short supply now or programme the new one I managed to source. I've tried the obvious places such as Thompsons and the AA but they've been unable to do it.
Hey guys, the lower ball joint pinch bolt snapped as I was trying to take it out, I’ve called every parts store and dealership in my area and I’ve had no luck. Does anyone know where I can find this bolt or even another one that works in its place? Located in ON, Canada. Appreciate all the help guys thanks!
(2008 93 aero)
I live in EU and I have a problem finding a cluster for 9-5NG. The cluster must be from an Aero petrol car (NOT diesel), automatic, with color display. Thank you
I have a 2004 9-5 that I love. BUT I have an intermittent problem that I cannot fix. Every few days the car fails to start in the morning. It will usually start later that day or the next day. There is no pattern and the space between non-starts is unpredictable. Once started the car runs great with no misfire or loss of acceleration.
I have replaced my Fuel pressure Regulator which I thought had solved the problem- but 7 days later no start.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what might be the problem? My mechanic is not much help. He says he cannot diagnose the problem if the car is working when he gets it. I am hoping this is not the end of my 20 year connection with SAABs.
Thank you.
