Articles and discussion about dwarf planet Quaoar
50000 Quaoar ("Kwawar") is a dwarf planet orbiting within the Kuiper Belt. Its diameter is estimated at 1110±5 km, making it roughly the size of Texas, and half the size of Pluto. Its orbit about the Sun takes ~ 285 years. Quaoar has one known satellite, Weywot.

Quaoar has been imaged by Hubble and New Horizons, as well as various Earth-based observatories. Best estimate for a hypothetical mission is 13.5 years from launch, to achieve a flyby.

So Quaoar, a dwarf planet orbiting at about 44 AU. It happens to have spun matter off of itself to form rings, AND has a moon nearly a fifth of its size. Also has an odd pink coloring, its just cool.
Damn this Dwarf Planet gets more interesting with each finding.

There have been rumblings about this for awhile. Here is to hoping Quaoar finally is recognized as a Dwarf Planet by the IAU. At least it is recognized by most planetary scientists as one.
There is a potential Chinese probe that will possibly target Quaoar. Lets hope this exploration happens.https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/u-s-and-chinese-scientists-propose-bold-new-missions-beyond-the-solar-system/
