All about Haumea

136108 Haumea is a dwarf planet orbiting within the Kuiper Belt. Its diameter is estimated at 2300 km, varying with a significantly ellipsoid shape. Haumea and its moons weigh in at about 1/4 of the mass of its cousin Pluto's system. Its orbit about the Sun takes ~ 284 years. Haumea's two known moons are named Hi'iaka and Namaka.

Exploration of Haumea

Haumea has been imaged by Keck and William Herschel telescopes, among several other Earth-based observatories. Best estimate for a hypothetical mission is 14.5 years from launch, to achieve a flyby.
