I'm an illinois resident, so I don't know the ins and outs of it all, but my understanding is that Montana will typically mail out ballots to residents before an election.
However, that law only applies to regular elections, not special elections, so they won't be doing it this time. So far, I've been directing people to go to the Secretary of State's website ( https://sos.mt.gov/elections ) to fill out the form to request that a ballot be sent to them.
Is this accurate?
For any interested in coming out to observe the Montana Dems hold their convention to nominate a replacement for Zinke, it is in Helena at the Great Northern Hotel this Sunday (March 5). Gavelling in at 10am, I believe.
With the right candidate and if the GOP nominates Gianforte as expected, I think we might have a chance at this. It'll be an uphill fight no matter what, but who knows..
