The California Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) Coalition is an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-partisan organization educating voters and advancing the cause of ranked choice voting (both single-winner and proportional multi-winner) across California. Visit us at www.CalRCV.org to learn more.
RCV is a method of electing officials where a voter votes for every candidate in order of preference instead of picking just one. Once all the votes are cast, the candidates enter a "instant runoff" where the candidate with the least votes is eliminated. Anyone who chose the recently eliminated candidate as their first choice has their vote moved to their second choice. This continues until one candidate has passed the 50% threshold and won the election. Ranked choice voting ensures that anyone who wins an election does so with a true majority of support.
If you're interested in getting a reproductive choice candidate elected to the US Congress in UT you might consider getting on a phone bank to support Dem candidate Kathleen Riebe in the 11/21 special election. A website to volunteer is included in this article as are statistics showing that a majority of UT voters support reproductive choice:

"Corporations are not people. People have hearts, they have kids, they get jobs, they get sick, they cry, they dance. They live, they love, and they die. That matters because we don't run this country for corporations, we run it for people." Elizabeth Warren
It would be nice if we finally taxed corporations in this country, but at least President Biden is proposing an increase in taxes for people with annual incomes over $400,000. It would be nice if this bill also included corporations, since our society effectively treats corporations as equals to people if not better.
The Alameda County Board of Supervisors just announced a special meeting taking place TOMORROW, Thursday January 5 at 9:30am, regarding the usage of Ranked Choice Voting in the County.

Indivisible has a tool called Neighbor to Neighbor. When you put in your address, you are provided the names and addresses of 5 people near you who vote Democrat. This program is available in the IL-14 Congressional District and in the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, GA, MI, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OR, PA, TX, WA, and WI. I used it and it was great to meet some sane neighbors and give them voting information.

Cook rates this race as lean Democrat. I am not convinced we need to call out the vote here (there are 31 critical races rated toss ups), but this is a request from Pramila Jayapal to call out the vote for Progressive Mike Levin in CA on Tuesday 9/27 at 7:30 est/4:30 pst, and Pramila is super progressive! Folks, billionaires are trying to insure that "We the People" do not have our voices heard in the 2022 election. An unbelievable record $1.6 billion contribution to a conservative PAC was made to make sure those elected will do what the billionaires want versus what "We the People" want for our country. I hope everybody is in favor of taxing the crap out of these greedy SOBs. Personally, I'm thinking instead of immigrants, these are the people who should be deported. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2022/08/22/politics/dark-money-donation-conservative-group-invs/index.html
The veto is likely to have been prompted in part by retaliatory spite over crushing US and EU sanctions on Russia, as Syria grapples with a prolonged killer drought and the world with dwindling grain supplies because of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Idlib, the rebel-held province bordering Turkey that is home to more than two million internally displaced civilians and to which the aid directly flows, would be the worst hit. Should the aid be cut off, it would likely trigger a further influx of refugees to Turkey even as anti-immigrant feelings there turn violent. Amid all the hand-wringing, one London-based oil company that produced oil in Syria before its descent into war in 2011, is lobbying for an initiative that would see the proceeds of Syrian oil being used for aid, with the money going to the UN rather than Damascus.
to advocate the common risk of Iranian policies in the region, particularly with the current situations in Lebanon and Syria. The expected return of a nuclear deal with Iran also represents an opportunity for this Sunni alliance to present a united front to the US, with a clear vision and expectations of how to deal with Iran.
Nina is a progressive candidate running for representative in Ohio’s 11th district.
Her platform is meant to secure social, racial, economic, healthcare, and environmental justice for all of us. She supports Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, free public college and cancelling student debt, increasing the minimum wage, and she takes no corporate money.
Turner made history in 2005 as the first African American woman to represent ward one on the Cleveland City Council, and again in 2008 as the first woman to serve as a state senator in Ohio’s 25th District. She led the effort to create Ohio’s first task force on police and community relations in the wake of tragic police killings in Ohio and across the country.
In 2016 she was a national surrogate for Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign. In 2020, she was the national co-chair for Bernie’s campaign.
You can find more information about Nina Turner and her campaign at her website. You can also volunteer to help her campaign by doing things like phone banking or text banking, or you can donate to her campaign if you would prefer to support Nina in that way.

If you would like to join Done Waiting and help us campaign for Nina and other candidates like her in the future, you can fill out our 30-second application here.
There, you can also learn more about our organization and the policies we support.
If you know a progressive that is looking for an endorsement and could use the help that a volunteer army can provide, go to this link to learn about the kinds of candidates we want to endorse and to fill out the endorsement application.
Done Waiting is a progressive, grassroots organization that advocates for and endorses progressive candidates and policies around the country.
In our first 2 months, we made 60,000 calls (without a dialer) for Adam Christensen, a progressive candidate that ran in Florida’s 3rd Congressional District. Since the election, we have made calls to constituents urging them to call their representatives to support the Green New Deal, and we have made calls to people in Georgia to get them to register and vote in the runoff election.
We are a completely volunteer-run organization, mainly consisting of students. If you would be so generous as to give us any financial support, it would go toward things like:
Investing in infrastructure to help our dedicated army of phone bankers reach even more people per hour (current output exceeds 1200 hours/week)
Buying essential voter data to bolster our proprietary advocacy software and increase voter outreach in strategic areas
Covering minimal overhead costs related to communications and legal compliance
Your donation would only go toward operating costs, nobody working in this organization gets paid so none of the money will enter our pockets.
Our donation link can be found here.
If you can’t support us financially but would still like to assist us in another way, you can volunteer with us by filling out this application, which takes about 30 seconds.
Here is our website so you can learn more about us. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
We greatly appreciate any contribution you’re able to make. We recognize that this is a very difficult time so, above all, please stay as safe and healthy as possible. Thank you.
Done Waiting is a progressive group that endorses and advocates for progressive candidates and policies all around the country.
The application can be filled out at this link and it takes about 30 seconds to complete.
You can apply to be an intern, which is 4-6 hours per week, or a fellow, which is 8-12 hours. Note that this is a fully volunteer-run organization, so all positions are unpaid. Because of this, we try and keep hours flexible.
Much of what you would be doing would be voter outreach, usually through phone banking. There is also a weekly mandatory meeting on Wednesdays at 9 pm EST. The availability of leadership opportunities in the organization can vary, as our need for more positions increases as we grow. Leadership positions could include managing social media accounts, leading phone bank shifts, helping create graphics, and more.
Any work you would be doing would be completely remote, and we accept people from any location.
If you would like to be a part of an organization advocating for progressive values, while also learning how to organize and lead or manage teams, apply to Done Waiting. You can meet hundreds of other young, like-minded progressives from all over the country. In addition to our organizing, we also have an org-wide book club and policy discussions that any members can participate in if they want. Letters of Recommendation will be provided for strong performance in the organization.
You can learn more about us and our values here.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
