Our son is almost 11 and has Autism/ADHD (Level 1).. I've been to Mesa before but back then it was not the first autism certified city in the USA.. Now it is.. We are spending an evening, whole day, and a morning there.. I wanted to make it worthwhile for our family of 5..
I figured a water park is in order.. I'm from San Diego/husband is from NYC.. I just want them to see how much better life is out there.. Yes, I know I will get a million discouraging comments from people on how bad it is.. "don't come here" and "the schools suck".. but I'm in a very bad spot where I am surrounded by toxic in laws and I want our son (and daughters) to have a better life.. Pretty much ANYWHERE is better than NYC..
I would like to do 2-3 memorable things there,. Zoo isn't really one.. I'm from SD so that zoo is already pretty much as impressive as it gets.. I want to do things Arizona is really known for in that area..
It would be great to show our son something Autism inclusive (if it exists) too and also anything nature related that isn't just a "boring walk/hike" lol.. (as the kids call it)
I have a storage unit paired with my condo inside a gated community. The HOA prevents residents from having yard sales or creating situations where large numbers of non-residents are wandering around the property.
The storage unit is full of random stuff from my ADHD-fueled buying of random crap over the years. A lot of it is nice stuff but in a lot of cases it's just not worth the hassle of posting on Ebay. A Yard Sale is much more practical for the stuff.
Is there a solution to handle this? A community yard sale I can join or a place I can just set up a couple tables for a weekend?
Having this convo with some coworkers wanted to see how everyone on Reddit would weigh in.

So I’ve been obsessed with the almond amaretto coffee (latte?) at QT since they first started opening up here. But they’re all switching to the coffee on tap thing and all the ones I frequent no longer carry it. I’m trying to save money by avoiding SB and DB but I need this to make it easier for me!
Anyone know any that still have the old school coffee dispensers? Help a girl out! TIA
Did anyone approx downtown Phoenix just hear a boom? Heard it at 16th st and Virginia. Someone on Nextdoor reported it as well. Our power flickered a few minutes before.
Any ideas?
I'm not asking for what services are available in my area since I know how to look this up. I just want to know how things are in areas of the East Valley where there are already fiber internet providers other than Cox. Asking for a relative with a small business in the Chandler area. I know Google Fiber has expanded to Mesa and AT&T Fiber is actually in parts of Chandler, close to where this person is.
I'm just curious if any of these fiber internet providers, especially Google in Mesa, are providing business internet to commercial addresses or if work has been mostly in residential areas. Trying to assess if waiting is better vs saving a small amount monthly by signing a multi-year Cox contract. This is dependent on how long he'd have to potentially wait...
This person is essentially off contract with Cox (I would need to look into how Cox deals with off contract services). The accounts person we have tried to contact seems like a lazy bum who doesn't answer his phone or properly reply to emails. The contract "discount" they are offering him is a giant joke, so I advised him that it's not worth signing a 3 or 5 year or however many year contract Cox is trying to sucker him into.
I doubt we'd get any concrete info if Google or AT&T will expand to his location soon. I still think it's better to wait maybe at least a few months to see how things change with alternative providers considering there is a residential neighborhood a block away with AT&T Fiber internet.
I'm looking into classes at Stir Crazy Comedy Club, most other places look like improv classes. Suggestions? Thx
Can anyone recommend a good dog trainer for a reactive dog? I adopted my girl 3 months ago from MCACC. She gets plenty of socialization and is great with other dogs. However, she is terrified of people (aside from my husband, my dad, and I). She’s about a year old and a German shepherd. I’d like to work on basic obedience, leash training, and working on her reactivity. Not looking to board, just private lessons at a facility or in home. I’m in north Peoria, thanks!
Edit to add- thank you so much everyone!! ❤️
So there's this really authentic taco place that I've been to once and drove by randomly again once but I can't find it right now for the life of me. When I drove by it I was like oh I got to mark that somewhere and then I didn't. It's a tiny blue shack/ trailer and it's patio area consists of white patio chairs and rickety tables. The menu is super authentic, bomb ass quesabirria tacos. Does anyone know the name of this place or where it is I cannot find it at all no matter what I try to search. I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in Central Phoenix but don't quote me on that.
Listened to this episode this morning on castbox
https://castbox.fm/vb/757167616
The episode talks about the founder of Harkins what he does differently with the popcorn and the oil that makes it different then AMC
Then the host goes on to talk about his love for popcorn and has his friend on yada yada
The interesting thing is the host doesn't mention the Kernel Brand flavored seasonings that Harkins had from 2012 up to the pandemic
Just got an email from SRP about a set of proposed pricing structures for the valley (set to take effect in Nov 2025).
https://www.srpnet.com/price-plans/electric-pricing-public-process/overview-residential-changes
As I’m reading it, it is somewhat ambiguous what all the proposed residential changes are. For example they talk about % of revenue, but I think they’re actually referring to higher fees. Can someone help explain what the actual changes to residents and their bills will be based on this information?
When will it get colder? Shouldn’t it be colder now or wasn’t it colder last December?
Anyone have any recording studios they would recommend? I’m in south Scottsdale but am willing to travel a little further if it’s worth it and not crazy pricy
Thought I’d put this out there to save anyone else the headache, but I went to the SS office because I needed a new card and got there an hour before opening to wait in line with about 40 other people only to be told they’re only seeing people who have appointments (after standing in line for an hour)
Apparently in 2025 all Social Security offices will not be accepting walk-ins, but it seems like there’s a couple major cities that are piloting this earlier and Phoenix is one of them. Because it hasn’t been mandated on the federal level yet there’s no information on the Social Security website that says Phoenix is appointment only. So if you’re planning on going make an appointment, there’s usually next day available, but you definitely have to plan ahead.
A place for questions about your pet, interest in adoptions, or just sharing pictures of your fuzzy, feathered, or scaly pet.
We're adding this to our regular post rotation to help draw attention to all the pets needing homes in our local shelters, but it's open to any pet questions you have like if you're looking for a new vet, trainer, play dates, or whatever.
There are a few ground rules. First, NO POSTS ABOUT REHOMING PETS. Unfortunately there are too many problems with this online so it's banned in this sub. Second, you may have your own thoughts on the issue but NO NEGATIVE DOG BREED COMMENTS.
If you know of shelters with specific pets needing adoption, you're welcome to share them here. Double points for less popular animals needing homes (seniors, disabled, certain breeds, pets with medical issues like FeLV, etc.).
All types of pets are welcome here, including rabbits, birds, rats, reptiles, and so on.
Worst case, share a picture of your pet. Pet pics make all our days better.

Does anyone know of any east coast style hotdogs dog stands? While I enjoy the Sonoran style hotdogs, I miss the simple, boiled dogs and steamed buns as many New England/New York style places have! thanks!
There were a few PHX PD cars over an hour ago and now I just counted 31 cars on scene with lights flashing. Anyone know what is going on? Seems like it would have to be major for such a massive response
Anybody know what happened to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe on Camelback and 16th Street that it just closed all of a sudden with no warning? I was there last weekend on Sunday, and when I tried to go back yesterday, less than a week later, it's permanently closed, but without any signs on the door explaining what happened. Just a bunch of cardboard in the windows and no signage anymore other than the permanent stuff mounted to the building. I'm sad because that was our go-to smoothie spot after gym visits.
Asking for myself 😁😋
I’m interested in the history of the local area, and I’m in the area often. I heard it was sold post covid to develop some condos but it still stands, I am glad it didn’t get torn down but its so sad to see it in the state its in. I think someone should renovate into a nice spa. I know the area is…. Questionable but that might help change things. Anyways just curious about if it’s gonna be torn down anytime soon? Did the family who originally owned back out of the sale maybe? Cross posted from r/mesa in case someone here knows more!
So, out here in Surprise we used to have a drop-off recycling station, but it’s seems to be shut down for some reason? I’ve got a load of broken down boxes in my garage… where can i recycle these things here in the west valley that isn’t a landfill?
I understand that whatever the reason was for you to surrender her in the field to an officer, I know it could not have been easy. Saying goodbye, lost hopes, or even pride while having to surrender “Bree” now Skeeter.
I thank you so much for doing the right thing, and want you to know I am so grateful she was surrendered to the Humane Society and not county or just kicked to the streets.
It’s only been about three weeks, but you can’t see her spine anymore and her back hips don’t stick out. She’s definitely a handful with a whole lot more puppy in her then I had bargained for but thank you so much for my new friend and thank you for doing the right thing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You saved two lives that day. Thank you.
