In the past few years how many times has the snow been so bad you couldn’t physically leave the house?

Was anyone else in the Feb 2019 blizzard?

Hi, so I lived at NAU for a CCC to NAU program for one year and I remember being stuck in McConnell for 3 days because of the Feb 2019 snow storm. After that, I decided to move back to the valley cause I learned I hate snow. Anyone remember that?

What would a starship robot be doing out at 3am

I was brushing my teeth, looked out the window, and saw one of them driving by on the sidewalk at 3am.

I assumed that it probably got stuck somewhere and is only now making it back, but everything closes around 12am right? 3 hours seems like a long time to be stuck and/or making it back from a long distance?

Not that serious but thought it was interesting

Open Spots in Dorms

Does anyone know of any open spots in dorms right now? I applied to live on campus for the 2025 Spring semester and was wondering if anyone knew which dorms have open rooms. I don’t get to pick if I can get a spot, they’ll just randomly assign me a dorm and room.

Bio 475 with Professor Speer

Has anyone taken this class (Parasitology lecture) who can offer insight into what it’s like? I couldn’t find any reviews for the Professor or the class itself so any information would be appreciated!

Has anyone completed or trying to graduate with the Educational Leadership, MEd - Community College/Higher Education (Online) degree?

I’m planning on starting this degree in the Spring semester, and I’d love to get insight on this program. I work full time so I’m planning on taking one course per session.

Thank you! :)

Good and cheap car rental services?

Does anyone know of any good and affordable car rental services near NAU? I need to rent a car for my road test and would like to drive it at least once before the test, since it’s been over a year since I last drove a manual.

Also, if anyone has any advice or info about the road test at the Flagstaff DMV, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Corey Myers for PHY 112?

Has anyone taken Myers for PHY 112? I checked out his rate my professor but I didn’t see any for 112–trying to see if people’s experiences with this course are comparable to how people felt about his others (bad). Any insight is appreciated!

Tuition for out of state grad students

Hi all! I’m considering applying to a graduate program at NAU. For fellow out of state grad students — We’re you able to get a GA/tuition waiver/substantial scholarship funding? My home state has relatively expensive tuition, so while NAU would only be a few grand more per year, I would still love to hear about your experiences. Thank you!!

NAU

What are the pros and cons of going to college at NAU? I've been touring colleges in my home state which I don't plan to go but it made me think of what NAU has to offer for college students and if there's any big or small pros and cons other than Flagstaff bring pretty expensive?

Update from an election worker

TL;DR: register properly and actually plan ahead to vote

As I was working the election this evening, I was shocked by the amount of provisional ballots from the NAU polling location. If you don't know, provisional ballots are what you get if you do not show on the voter rolls at the polls. For students, this usually means you are not registered at all in Arizona, or not registered in Coconino county. These ballots are only counted if you are already registered to vote in Coconino county by the deadline in October.

There were hundreds of provisional ballots just from this one location, close to none will be counted because of reasons above. The county elections department and multiple non-profits were on campus for months before the registration deadline; next time, if you want your vote to count plan ahead and learn how the election process works.

Apologies for this half PSA and rant. I am available to assist people in registering and providing more information on this topic. Just message me.

Voting information

For anyone who didn't vote early, today is the day folks. It's a tight race, make your voice heard.

For anyone who is already registered but unsure where their polling location is, you can find it by looking up your address (easiest) or voting precinct here: Arizona Dashboard

If you know your precinct you can find the polling location on this list: In Person Voting | Coconino

Bring your ID, dress warm, and make any travel arrangements if needed. If you have questions or hesitations that are keeping you from voting, ask here and the community may be able to help you.

Here is some additional information on valid ID you must have to vote.

LIST #1

Photo identification with name and address — ONE REQUIRED

Acceptable forms of identification with photograph, name, and address of the elector — if the address on the ID does NOT match the address in the Signature Roster, the voter must vote a regular provisional ballot and does NOT have to return. OR, SEE LIST #3.

  1. Valid Arizona driver license
  2. Valid Arizona non-operating identification license
  3. Tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification
  4. Valid United States federal, state, or local government issued identification

An identification is "valid" unless it can be determined on its face that it has expired.

LIST #2

Non-photo identification (name and address only) — TWO REQUIRED

Acceptable forms of identification without a photograph that bear the name and address of the elector — if the address on the ID does NOT match the address in the Signature Roster, the voter must vote a regular provisional ballot and does NOT have to return.

  1. Utility bill of the elector that is dated within ninety days of the date of the election. A utility bill may be for electric, gas, water, solid waste, sewer, telephone, cellular phone, or cable television
  2. Bank or credit union statement that is dated within 90 days of the date of the election
  3. Valid Arizona Vehicle Registration
  4. Indian census card
  5. Property tax statement of the elector's residence
  6. Tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification
  7. Vehicle insurance card
  8. Valid United States federal, state, or local government issued identification
  9. Voter Registration Card / Recorder's Certification
  10. Any "Official Election Material" mailing bearing your name and address

LIST #3

Mix and Match from Lists #1 and #2

  1. Any Valid Picture ID from List #1 with an address that does NOT match the Precinct Register WITH a non-photo ID from List #2 with an address that DOES match the Precinct Register.
  2. U.S. PASSPORT and one item from List #2
  3. U.S. MILITARY ID and one item from List #2
