Shut Off valve isn’t stopping water flow

I’m trying to winterize my plumbing, but I’m having an issue. The shut-off valve in my basement is in a perpendicular position to the pipe (which I thought meant it's off), but there's still a lot of water coming out of the outdoor spigot with strong pressure. How long ideally does it take to clear all the water from pipes ?

Is there something I'm missing? Could the valve be malfunctioning, or is there a different issue at play? Any advice would be appreciated!

I am in Kanata and house is 2013 built

Which OC Transpo routes are the *least* popular?

I'm asking more based on the average crowding on a bus than the number of daily users, though either would be good

hello

Chicken tender/strips/wings catering

Hello I'm looking for a catering place for any chicken wing/tender/substitute that would do a mass order. It doesn't have to be the best tasting - just one that can do something in big batches.

Papa Jack's

Has anyone noticed a dip in quality lately? Less fluffy, full of kernels?

I used to be able to eat a bag right to the bottom. These days, it's russian roulette for your teeth....

Where to buy a Scheduling wheel / perpetual calandar for estimating dates and lead times.

I know this can be done with my cell or my computer, but when I'm in meetings with suppliers its just nicer to have this sitting on my desk I grab it and quickly and silently. Also when I'm in person infront of suppliers I can quickly check what they are saying to me, which is typically quoted in weeks or days and get my projected ship date.

I used to have one but I lost it. Usually I find them at conferences as swag, so naturally the places selling them are customizing them and want to seel you minimum 250 qnty.

Karaoke group meet ups?

Hello, Just gouging interest.

I have deleted some of my social media (FB and IG) and while that's mostly a good decision, I have realized that it's harder now for me to know events around town.

At the moment, I am aching for karaoke.

Then again, I never really had a "Karaoke Group" so I am wondering if by any chance there's a certain meet up group that caters to the karaoke crowd.

Or I can be very confident in myself and just go Karaoke by myself, but, wee, would be more fun if with a group!

My friends are more in fitness and sports, so this is me branching out.

Any leads will do!

❤️🤗

Home Depot truck rental question

Renting a cargo van at Home Depot, the confirmation states:

A valid Canadian driver's licence and proof of insurance (valid for the duration of the rental) are required for pick-up.

  1. Does this mean I'm suppose to find my credit card's policy and have it printed or ready to display on my phone?
  2. If I can't, can they supply one?

Any tips on how to lessen or prevent from getting shocked from metal objects, especially door knobs?

I'm fairly new to this climate and still adjusting with dry weather. I work in a long-term care and retirement home and I pretty much touch door knobs often (and I sometimes get shocked).

Any tips? 🥲

Shelters full of pitbull mixes, can't rehome pets on Facebook, and hardly anyone uses Kijiji..what's going on

Il preface this thread by saying I am actively trying to help multiple friends rehome their animals. One of my friends has a German Shepherd and going through a divorce so needs to rehome her. Another friend is working a ton and needs to rehome his doodle asap, etc.

I originally said to go through a shelter as they can vet appropriate owners properly but the waitlist is months everywhere. Besides Kijiji there is nowhere else to advertise (?). Do you post dog ads at the dog park?

Seriously, what is to be done here?

Pay per ride horseback riding?

I am an experienced equestrian but haven’t ridden regularly since 2019– did a few trail rides on vacation here and there but that’s it. I miss it a lot and just want to ride sometimes; I don’t want to take lessons or be guided on a trail.

This might be a long shot but does anyone know if there are any stables in or around the Ottawa/gatineau area that allow people to pay per ride or something like that?

Driving schools?

I got my G1 about a year and a half ago and have been too busy with school and life and work to get my G2. I've learned the wait times for in person lessons is quite long at some schools so I'd like to register now so I can learn in the Spring when the roads are better.

My parents do not want to teach me to drive so I have to go through a school. I've had Young Drivers recommended a lot but its quite expensive. I've also found Ottawa Driving School that offers 10 lessons for $500 which is a lot cheaper than young drivers. I could just take one lesson with them to see if they're a good option but does anyone have experience with them? Or other driving schools in the Kanata/Stittsville area?

Also, is it worth driving to Smith's Falls to take my test? I've been told their roads are pretty empty so it makes passing very easy. I get anxious quite easily especially in a test environment so I don't want to fail just because of that.

Thanks.

Any place like Ciccio’s (Montreal) exist here?

Was in Montreal last weekend and stopped in for a sandwich at Ciccio’s (at the strong recommendation of another shop employee) and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Does any place come close here or am I going to be driving 4hrs for a sandwich every so often? 😂.

Is your name Justin? Did you get your kid’s skates sharpened at pro hockey Kanata this weekend?

If so, you may have gone home with the wrong skates. You brought in a pair of size 12s and left with size 13s. Would like to get our kid’s skates back!

East end highway always bumper to bumper

When is this city going to get it together. The transit is terrible whether you are trying to bus, use the train or use your car. Constant construction closures with no workers present - getting through the stretch of highway from Trim to Jeanne Darc has been a ridiculous 30-45 minutes consecutively.. stop and go now for years. Literally years. Fed up. It’s less than two kilometres of road. Instead of fixing the on ramp issues, you just keep making it worse. We’ve been sitting at a dead stop with only the very right lane moving for twenty minutes passing the Jeanne Darc mall-the city mismanagement is gross.

I just want to say that, despite the overall decline in customer service across many companies and organizations since the pandemic, the staff at Princess Auto are a true gem.

I just wish they never change.

It's my wife's and I first Christmas here and we bought all the decorations yesterday. I don't usually decorate before first week of December but she's excited so we set up everything within a few hours!
