I am getting so fed up. HOW is the wifi down every other day. It's the same message, "we are working with our vendors"... how is this possible?
The Ottawa campus is cooking me alive
Hi there!
I am entering semester 2 of PN this January at Pembroke College.
This means that because I bridged from a PSW- PN, I 'skipped' the first sem with the required pathway courses.
I am looking for a group chat or Discord for those who started the PN program in Pembroke this Fall of 2024!
Thanks in advance!!

I'm broke as a joke and seeking as much income as I can get. How did you find this program? Was it worth it? Do they accomodate class schedules (say I have 2 classes with 4hrs between, can I work those 4 hours?)
Thanks for any info!
I graduated from a 2-year business management program at Algonquin and was able to transfer my credits to the University of Ottawa. I am currently in the BCom Finance program (at uOttawa), uOttawa credited me 1 year from Algonquin. I am currently not liking how it's going at uOttawa in regards to the teaching and my learning style, and the grading system, so I am interested in transferring to the Business Admin Core program at AC and majoring in Finance and then continue with getting the BCom Finance degree through Nippising Univeristy.
They will also transfer my previous AC program credits towards the Buisness Admin Core program. I know it is a bit of a detour, but for my sanity, I am hoping it should work with the same end result of a degree.
Is anyone a graduate from the Business Admin Core program? Even specifically with the Finance major, or a graduate/current student of the Nippising Bridge?
If someone can tell me about their experience and the difficulty level? I know you have to put the work in for anything. Maybe advise me of some tips and tricks and warnings. I know at uOttawa I'm having midterms worth 35% and exams worth 50% - wondering if Algonquin is like that for this program as well.
Any info would be great! THANK YOU in advance!
Hi all, I am hoping to transfer from uOttawa to Algonquin. I have a number of completed credits from uOttawa, and would like to see if I can transfer some or most over. Where could I find resources to start this process? Any advice would also be extremely appreciated if possible. Thank you in advance!

Has anyone graduated from this program and if so please reach out! I need some sort of information on what placement is like and where we are even able to do a placement. Haven’t really been able to get any clear answers from anyone regarding this. For one of the assignments we had to reach out to an organization and interview them, and the lady my friend interviewed never heard of the program and said placements are basically unheard of nowadays… so feeling a little discouraged and nervous about finding my own placement come spring. Would really like to find a good one with proper teaching and guidance and potential for a job afterwards.
I am someone whos main interests are animation and illustration so this program seams perfect for me however i would need to live in residence. Does anyone have thoughts, opinions, stories about this program or the algonquin residence or even just Algonquin college in general. Thanks in advance for any replys!
Haven't seen many model united nations clubs in Ottawa, any interest in a club at AC?
Just want to make sure I'm understanding the instructions correctly--I've submitted my application on OCAS. I'm just finishing up my portfolio. But I need to wait until I'm 'approved' based on my transcripts and THEN they'll send a request for my portfolio after approving of my transcripts?
Will the request be sent on OCAS or email? Will it show up as a conditional acceptance? Or more like a 'congrats, you've moved onto the next step in the process, please submit your portfolio'?
Hello
I was wondering if any graduates or people currently enrolled in the program share their experience and thoughts about the bachelor of technology (business systems development) program. How is it and do you think the job prospect is good, considering how tech jobs are already oversaturated and there are rumors of Ai taking tech jobs.
I appreciate it
It starts in November although Idk the exact same date
But I would need to apply and also do a Math test, would I be able to apply now or should I wait?
When would the program be open again?
I have just applied to OSAP for my Addictions and Mental Health online course, which starts in January. The Osap application only had options for 14 weeks, however the program is longer than this as I believe it ends in fall term of 2025 with a placement term. The estimated loans and grants is much lower than I expected, but I was wondering if maybe I will have to apply to OSAP again for the summer term? Any help with this would be incredible!
Due on Nov 1st, can i pay day of?
Hi, I am an Algonquin Times reporter, and I am doing a lifestyle piece on dorm decorations. If you live in Algonquin Residence and have decorated your dorm and want to showcase it, please reply to me.
Hey AC peeps, former alumni here. Long story short I’m in a local band and wanna play kick ass tunes for you guys but where do you go for a night out? Do you stick close to the college or head downtown?
I have the opportunity for a dream job starting next year as a competitive coach. It's part-time, and I would also be starting the graphic design program (first year).
I'm not sure how things might work availability-wise though, so I have a few questions.
Are there multiple course times to select from (like building your schedule at a university) or do they hand you your schedule (like high school)?
How common are evening classes in this program? Is there any way to not take evening classes?
How many hours are typically spent per week (outside of class) for projects, reading, etc?
How flexible is it if I need to miss a few days? If my team competes in 4 competitions in semester 2, they would take place over a weekend but I may need to miss a Friday and Monday of classes. Would this be feasible?
When do you get your schedule? I'd have to coach the same day & times for a year straight, from September - July, so I'd need to make sure I only coach on days that I'll have evenings available.
Are there ever weekend classes?
And an aside: I've taken several university courses. Would these be able to count toward my diploma and exempt me from the general electives? I took business english at UOttawa as well, would it be worth trying to get an exemption from the GD program's English course?

Asking for a friend who is thinking of joining Algonquin.

Looking for feedback (good or bad) on the Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) program as I am looking to apply for Fall 2025.
If this is not allowed, please delete this.
Is Algonquin dental insurance worth it? Has anyone had any bad experiences with them? I'm an online student, so I have to pay extra to use the insurance. It states it pays 100% for one exam and consultation, which I need, and it pays 75% of the filling cost.
I just want to see other people's opinions before I get it.
Are they all multiple choices? Chemistry, are they all equations? English, I heard there are no essay anymore??
Taking mine soon, please help your girl out 😭
