I’m a mature applicant to the collaborative nursing program with UOttawa. I have a baby. By the time I start the program my baby will be 6 months old.

How supportive is Algonquin of parents, especially mothers who might be breastfeeding? I know there is the Early Learning Centre, but would I be allowed to pop in to feed my baby every 3 hours? Would professors let me step out of class to feed her or to pump? How safe is the Early Learning Centre, does anyone have experience with the ECE’s? If anyone has any personal experience with parenting young children while in school, I would love to hear your stories. Thanks in advance!

Does Algonquin typically accept highschool students for MRT? I got accepted to Algonquin’s pre-health science and was invited to take the HPAT for MRT but was wondering whether I should bother if they don’t accept highschool students?

I’ve been working on an app called Fleety, and I’d love for you to check it out and let me know what you think. It’s a transit tracker app that shows live bus and train schedules using GTFS realtime data.

I built it to make commuting a bit less stressful—no more guessing when your ride is coming! It’s lightweight, easy to use, and (hopefully) super helpful for anyone who takes public transit regularly.

It’s currently available on Android, and I’m working on an iOS version too, so stay tuned!

Hi everyone, I applied to the dental hygiene and dental assistant program and I am very scared and I think I will be on the waiting list for the dental hygiene program. And I don't know if I will be accepted into dental assistant without waiting and I don't want to wait a long time and if I apply to the nursing program, can I change to dental hygienist after a year? And I saw that the other colleges do not require an exam like the HPAT like Durham College in Oshawa, they only require high grades in high school and my grades are really high. If I apply to dental hygienist at this college, will it affect my acceptance at Algonquin College? And really, this college is about a 3-hour drive away 🤦‍♀️. What do you advise me?

I applied for both and got admitted, I was just curious if anyone’s taken either of these courses and what’s your opinion on it. I’m leaning towards general business but I’m interested if BME is good.

Hello, I am turning 40 (male) soon, live in Ottawa, with 2 young kids and would like some advice about these two programs before I regret not getting post secondary education and a diploma in my pocket.

I am wondering which program has more or better job opportunities in the Ottawa area and also which has better opportunities for advancement for someone changing careers at 40.

I am interested in electrical engineering technician or manufacturing technician 2 year diploma. For those who graduated from either in the last few years, what entry level technician jobs did you find or get co-op placements for in Ottawa area?

I was wondering if anybody knew if I had to write a test for the nursing program? I had received an email for the text for the paramedic program but I’m unsure if I’m supposed to write any text for nursing or if the AC-HPAT test is for both or just paramedic!

I am currently applying to the paramedic program and have some outstanding course requirements. As I understand the equal consideration deadline for registration is February 1st and the deadline to complete the HPAT is February 13th to be entered in ranking for admission. does this mean I need proof of enrolment for my courses by February 1st or 13th? I assume the 1st just want to check if maybe I actually have extra time.

Hey, everybody! Sorry to come to you with this question, but a close friend of mine was recommended a course in this university by man who turned out to be extremely disrespectful and abusive, and I was wondering if maybe someone could help.

A few weeks ago, that friend and I, along with several other people, joined a Discord server led by a certain Syrian man who claims to live and teach in the Ottawa region. When my friend voiced she was trying to move countries, he suggested a Dental Hygienist course in this college, but he turned more and more hostile towards everyone in the community as soon as his personal advances were rejected. We suspect he may be a teacher on one or multiple Programming/Computer Science courses, based on the professional experience he claimed to have in those fields.

Does anyone know of, or has been taught by, a man of Syrian origin who calls himself Shieth/Phoenix online? He might be taking advantage of his resources and connections in this particular college to lure vulnerable people. His personal views regarding "Westerners" and women/queer people are especially worrisome to me, thinking he could've put multiple others in danger.

is there anywhere i'd be able to find more info about admissions info, specifically like how many people applied to certain programs in previous years, vs the amt of people actually accepted into those programs? similarly, is there any way to find out what cut-off scores from previous years were for the hpat depending on the program? thanks so much!

I have applied to the practical nursing program for fall 2025. I am 27 and have been out of high school for almost 10 years, and my high school grades are not great. I am currently upgrading bio, chem, math, and english through ILC. They accepted my application and just asked for a screen shot proving I'm currently enrolled in the courses. Does anybody have experience getting accepted while still upgrading courses like this or should I expect to reapply for winter next year? thanks :)
