What are the best actual smartphones options up to 250€$ that can be bought - best deal; Price vs performance vs camera?
I'm searching for a new phone. Already searched and got some ideas, but want to know other options and opinions
Will the unlocked edge 24 work with any carrier?
My Motorola edge 2024 unlocks on December 15. Will I be able to trade it in to itsworthmore as unlocked? I'm just worried because some idiot in the comments say the firmware on these phones only allows it to work on Verizon, even unlocked. But others say they had it working on T-Mobile and att no problem. Who has experience with this? I need to trade in my edge for 142 to make up for buying a moto razor.
I'm American. I travel to Quebec 3-4 times a month.
I am on T-Mobile and it's been working great. I have free data and calling and text.
HOWEVER, I have had a lot of family/friends/coworkers tell me they can't call a US number without incurring charges.
I want to get a second (Canadian) number on my phone (I have multiple eSIM, no issue there).
What carrier can I get on that has WiFi calling?
I do NOT want VoIP. I want a real number on a real carrier.
Does that exist?
TL;DR
No Contract (I understand this is the sub, but I also don't mind contract plans under $20/month)
Gives a Quebec number
Has WiFi Calling (so I can call them using this number when I'm back in the US)
not voip
were restructuring our family plan as kids get older, I have a pretty broken iPhone 13, but looking to get a good switch and save deal. Currently on AT&Ts most expensive deal I think. I don't usually use over 50 GB a month of cellular and don't need the best coverage. But I would like a cheaper plan and new phone. What should I do?
I have their home internet service and it's been very reliable.
They're offering $830 in bill credits over two years for a phone that I'm buying someone for Christmas anyway, which essentially makes this a completely free unlimited plan.
Though I don't want anything for free if the service itself is bad. So how is the service? Supposedly they're in the non-deprioritized tier? What about voice calls and messaging? Any issues?
Is it true that you get automatically bounced to any open Cox wifi hot spot if it's in range? I saw something about this on Reddit, but not sure if it's just a rumor.
Unless there are some other red flags that I need to be aware of (besides Cox being Cox) I'd be willing to give them a shot.
eSIM Adapters let you use eSIMs in phones that only have physical SIM slots.
jmp: https://jmp.chat/esim-adapter . Can be swapped between devices. No limit on the number of profiles. $31.99 plus $5 shipping to U.S.. They sell a USB adapter in case you need to program the eSIM card outside the phone, but a compatibility check can determine whether or not this is necessary. MEP (Multiple Embedded Profiles) status unknown.
5ber: https://esim.5ber.com/order . Can be swapped between devices. $22.50, including shipping (use promo code "5ber") for unlimited eSIM profile downloads. Supports MEP (Multiple Embedded Profiles) on phones that support eUICC (Android 14 or greater). This is the least expensive adapter. There is no option to use an external eSIM programming device.
esim.me: https://esim.me . Various options. Doesn't support MEP (Multiple Embedded Profiles).
9eSIM https://www.9esim.com $31.10 with coupon code "9ber" including shipping and the optional eSIM programming device in case your phone can't write directly to the eSIM adapter. MEP (Multiple Embedded Profiles) status unknown.
In some cases you can have two active eSIM profiles at the same time, while using a single eSIM adapter: "For devices running Android 13 or higher, Android supports multiple enabled profiles (MEPs) for eUICC. This feature allows devices to have dual SIM support using a single eSIM chip, which can have multiple SIM profiles and can connect to two different carriers at the same time."
There is an upside to this in that you could have a U.S. eSIM active and use "Wi-Fi" calling using data from a data-only travel eSIM. However of course you can't have a U.S. eSIM and purchase a region-specific or country-specific foreign physical SIM, which is what many travelers like to do in order to minimize the cost of foreign data. A data-only travel eSIM is likely to cost at least $2/GB of data.
I’m paying $162 per month for unlimited data and 2 iPhone 14’s. I still owe about $500 on each phone. AT&T’s coverage is ok in my area. Verizon seems better and T-Mobile is not so great. What are my best options? I know that I will need to pay off the phones. It’s not important to have the latest and greatest, but I work in a school - we use iPads and MacBooks, so I’d like to stick with iPhone because of familiarity. We do need unlimited data. If I could find a plan that is $25 per month per line or less, that would be great. Thanks in advance. New member here 👋
Received PSIM from Total yesterday and activated my plan today. Everything went smoothly until I inserted the PSIM into my phone - the phone couldn't detect the PSIM. Switched to another phone. Same problem. Spent an hour with an agent on the phone and narrowed it down to the PSIM problem.
Worried about losing my phone number during the transfer, I rushed to the CVS and picked up another PSIM kit (5$ at CVS instead of 1$). Inserted the new PSIM, the PSIM is detected this time. Called agent again and switched to the new PSIM. Everything seems to be working smoothly.
Searched this group and it seems faulty PSIM is a fairly common problem for Total Wireless... Just want to document here so that people know. On an Android phone, the way to check if your PSIM is detected is to go to Settings -> About Phone -> Device Details. If the SIM status shows as "Not available" even though you inserted the PSIM, then your phone likely did not detect the PSIM and a likely reason is a faulty PSIM sent by Total Wireless.
ordered an iPhone 13 from Straight Talk a week ago. It took them a few days to ship the phone via UPS. I was expecting the phone, but UPS tracking now shows the phone at the main processing center in a neighboring town. After a few days, the phone's status still hasn't changed, so I wrote to UPS asking for an update but didn’t hear back for 1.5 days.
I called Straight Talk, and they said once it leaves their loading dock, it's no longer their issue and directed me to UPS. I informed them that UPS tracking now says the item is delayed and the shipper should file a claim, but they repeated that it wasn’t their issue and gave me a phone number to call UPS.
When I called UPS, I spoke with a representative who had limited English proficiency. They told me they haven’t flagged the item and are looking into its location. They sent me a link to file a claim, but it can take 8 or more days for any results.
I'm quite frustrated that Straight Talk just washes their hands of the item once it leaves their dock. I suspect that a UPS employee might have taken the phone since it went missing at the processing center. What’s even more disappointing is that if the phone is lost, the Black Friday sales will be over, and I won’t be able to get the sales price unless another deal pops up before Christmas.
I guess the question is should I stop payment with my CC to Straight talk ?
Does anyone know if Xfinity Mobile is throttled on 5G UW after exceeding 50GB of data on their Unlimited Plus plan? Is the 5Mbps cap only on LTE/5G Nationwide?
Clearly Red Pocket is trying to get everyone off of the free FreedomPop plan. Red Pocket has also eliminated their lowest cost annual plan, which was on T-Mobile only so it wasn't great to begin with.
I think that a good option for a low-usage phone that you want to keep active is to buy a non-expiring (or 1 year expiring) data-only, SIM or eSIM, and use Google Voice for calls and SMS.
The free FreedomPop plan was only 100MB of data per month. 1.2GB of data on Vegolink is $1.67, that's $5 for three years, the same that the FreedomPop SIM sold for. Voice and SMS use very little data on Google Voice, about 0.2MB/minute (50 minutes/MB or 50,000 minutes per GB)
For a non-eSIM phone you can buy an eSIM.me card (adds eSIM capability to a non-eSIM phone) though these are costly. They have a sale now for 40% off for orders 49.90€ or higher (BLWK2024), so that would be a minimum of two of the least expensive cards.
Roamless: eSIM only. https://roamless.com
3HK: eSIM only. https://www.three.com.hk/prepaid/DIY/en/offer/travel
Vegolink: Physical SIM or eSIM.
The other option is to buy a phone each year from HSN or QVC with 24GB of data per year. With the new customer discount this can be under $60. You can put the SIM card into any phone you want.
Having a helluva time finding 0% finance for iPhones that are unlocked and not tied to any carrier. Apple used to offer it on their card but not available. Has anyone seen deals that offer this? Thinking Cyber Monday I might be able to score a new 15. Thanks
me and my sister are both on the same fido phone plan - 20gb for $55 and I'm looking for another plan. I need unlimited talk and text and it should be a BYOP plan. Data is required but I don't need too much - 20GB is good but less than 20 should also be fine. Anything within a reasonable price range but I need fast service.
I'm going to Mexico (Cancun) in about a month, yay! Currently I have US Mobile (Verizon) and Tello (T-Mobile). I assume neither MVNO allows roaming in Mexico. What should I do? Is there an eSIM from a particular provider I should consider for the five days that I'll be down there? I don't mind shutting off one of my current eSIMs to make room for a temporary one.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
I’m debating switching my parents’ lines from StraightTalk to MobileX. With all of the penny-pinching these days I’m trying to save them a little money, as I manage their limited finances. They’re currently on the $35/month plan with StraightTalk. To me, it seems like the current $15/month plan with MobileX is the same (if not slightly better) than the StraightTalk plan.
My questions are: Can I have more than one line associated with an account with StraightTalk? It would be easier for me to manage each line under one account/sign-on.
Can I renew their plans from any web-browser or any phone with the MobileX app, or does it have to be done on each individual devices? Since I manage their finances from states away, I need to be able to renew their plan each month without their devices.
Is there anything else I should consider or be concerned about? My parents are mostly home-bodies, almost always on WiFi, and really only use data for GPS when outside of their home.
Thank you in advance everyone!
Could someone with NSG confirm this value on these plans and the QCI? I have the 50 dollar AT&T Unlimited Max Walmart Plan. Depri after 22 Gig.
They changed something the last few months where on LTE you can only get around 150 Mbps and 5G around 420 Mbps. I'm just curious.
AMBR (Aggregate Maximum Bit Rate)
I saw the recent change in the Total Wireless TOS and now I'm not sure if it's worth it even with the 50% discount if the service will be poor.
The free phone is tempting, realistically it is worth $300-$350 not $630. I am forced to stay on Visible+ for 1 year, total cost $395. I might be able to stack the Chase $30 statement credit and trading in a useless phone for minimum $100 credit, potentially bringing my cost to $265 for 1 year of Visible+ and an iphone 13.
If I stayed at Total Wireless, I would pay $360 and I get $200 credit towards a 5G phone, the reward points are worth about 2 months of service. So my cost if I stayed at Total Wireless is $300 for 1 year and I get $200 credit towards a new 5G phone after 12 monthly payments.
There is no guarantee Total Wireless BYOD 50% discount is gonna be available in a year. Worth the risk or no?
Hi everyone I’m looking to sign up for good2go mobiles $60 annual 1gb unlimited talk and text plan and wondering if anyone has any feedback to share. How well the process went and especially the porting process as I know some of these lesser know carriers are notorious for having porting issues. What network were you put on as well, I see they offer both Att and T-Mobile networks. Any feedback is appreciated thank you all!
I just ordered a sim starter kit in order to test how the service is like. Can I give my SIM card to a relative once i'm done testing for a few days, so my relatives can test the service on their devices next? Or is everyone required to purchase separate SIM starter kits? Thanks
This is a higher AMBR compared to some others so I'm not complaining about it, I'm just presenting the evidence. It is indeed still priority data though.
I'm traveling around South America for 5 months and am looking for an eSIM or some type of phone plan that allows me to • receive and make texts and calls from my U.S. phone number • make and receive calls in the countries I'm in • have adequate coverage in all the countries I'll be in (Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil) I've found that buying international coverage through my U.S. provider (Verizon) comes with weak cell service. Would love any recommendations!
I got a google pixel 9 off my tmobile account to use on a usmobile lightspeed account. My understanding is that physical sims work just fine on a locked tmobile phone as long as it's a tmobile mvno, but are eSIM different? It's not letting me add the eSIM and to contact tmobile
any affordable mvnos out there with global plans (as in i only need one esim globally that i'm paying for)? is that even possible? not trying to pay 100+ monthly but i'm also tired of buying sims at the airport.
Straight talk has both for 199. Which is better? iPhone 13 only seems to have a lowly 4 GB of ram and a 60hz display
Why?
I'm looking to switch over to another carrier from ATT. Currently, I'm at $85 a month with unlimited, I think its after 100gb that it might slow. I was looking into Mint and they slow down at 40gb. My usage last month was 130+gb. I didn't really notice any changes in the ATT service after I reached 100gb and I need to have that same feeling moving to MVNO. Are there any carriers that won't limit my consumption, especially if I go up to 130+ gb a month?
I'm on the total wireless byod deal, with my pixel 7. Warranty on the device has run out, and it's over 2 years old anyway. But I've noticed recently I've been having on and off issues with the charging port. Can see the writing on the wall there, it may stop taking a charge soon. My gf has the iPhone 13 pro max, also on the total byod plan, and she also has recently been having some device glitches, but not as severe. What are the best deals that aren't byod deals right now? I saw the visible buy 1 year of plus, get a free iPhone 13 deal, that seems decent. Any others? I think metro has a buy 1 month of flex unlimited plus get an iPhone 12 for $99 (I'd imagine after the first month you can switch to a cheaper plan). I don't really care if the device is technically an older model than my pixel 7, nor if it's iOS or Android. She does kinda care, she's iPhone 100%, and would likely want at least a 15 plus. Which I know vastly limits device deals on mvno carriers.
Basically my question is exactly what I posted up too. I am in Canada, I am looking to switch providers and I want to get my kids onto my plan but I don't want to spend a bunch of money on it. Am I able to sign up for one plan with sharable data and then just sim card the two phones and use my sharable data? What's the best way to go about this?
