Tello Getting Started Checklist

I am trying to get my nephews samsung smartwatch 3 working with it's own phone number. I do have my samsung galaxy phone (a very recent one) and installed the wearable app there but when I go to mobile plans in that app, it only gives me the option ifnthe esim I had used for myself and my own phone number.
Note I'm reading the instructions about using the camera on the watch to scan the qr code but the watch doesn't have a camera so I'm not sure what to do.
How can I get his smartwatch working with its own phone number?
My question is basically just what the title says. If I'm using Wifi calling for calls and texts, does that count against my monthly limits?
Recently it's been a problem that I rarely ever had before both to Android and IPhone users. I get a message an hour or so later saying they are not online and message has not been sent and I change it to SMS/MMS and it goes right through. My daughter has also had the same problem and message with sending them to me. Is anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? I'm using a Moto G Stylus (2021) Is anyone else having similar issues or have any suggestions on how to fix it?
I'm another US expat (UK in my case) using Tello as a second sim (esim). My main UK SS I'm has data so WIFI Calling, SMS/MMS works all the time. This gives me a US lines that just works for a very very reasonable cost (5 bucks plus taxes). It's a great deal. The best part is it's a true cellular number, so banking short codes will actually be delivered to it..... Unlike my Google voice number.
The only downside for me has been tons of random calls. I had this issue with my initial Tello number and it seemed clear that whoever had it before me didn't pay his bills so debt collectors were calling me all the time. I thought I would solve it by trading out for a new Tello number and I did that but unfortunately I still get loads of calls. I've never given this number to a single living soul so I know the calls are not for me.
I'm just wondering if this is also an issue for any of you Tello users out there? Any recommendations on how the situation could be improved? I do sometimes take the time to block the random numbers, However they never stop coming from new numbers.
It's frustrating because overall it's an outstanding service.
Tello Referral Program
Introduce a friend to Tello & you both win $10 Tello Dollars. Your Tello Dollars can be used to make a purchase (Plan, Pay As You Go credit, or a Phone) once the amount of Tello Dollars is enough to pay for the entire invoice.
Can someone please give me a referral code?
I used the last of my data last month, its the second of the month and my pay cycle is on the 1st, I still don't have more data. Anyone else have this issue?
I have the unlimited plan ($25) and while I've seen other posts on the topic, I've never figured out how to check my used or remaining hotspot balance. I understand I get like 5 gigs, but no idea how I'm doing against that.
Hi, I need some advice. We are US expats, living in Europe, and we will probably never go back to live in the US, but we still need to maintain our US phone numbers, for text messages, bank and app verifications, and for when we go back to the US a few times a year. We've been actually doing ok with Ting for many years now. We did have several problems along the way, but always been able to solve them, with a lot of patience... Unfortunately, we're hitting the end of the road, so a change is needed. The Ting website doesn't let me update my expiring credit card, it is a known issue that nobody seems to be able to solve, at least on Reddit.
Looking at Tello, it seems to fit the bill, but I want to make sure: I will be able to port both lines from Ting to Tello and I will be able to activate the 2 eSIMs without visiting the US, correct?
Second question: I understand that text messages while abroad are extra charges, and that's fine, but is there a way to add extra credit automatically or do I need to periodically, manually, top of the credit?
Last question: can I manage both lines from the same account?
Thanks!!!
I'm going to attempt porting Verizon landline # to tello in a couple days. VZ customer service says landline accounts don't have PINs and had no answer when I asked what I need to use as my PIN for a port out.
I want this to go as smoothly as possible so any info from someone who has done it would be appreciated. The sooner I get this done the sooner I can close my VZ account.
I have an iPhone SE 2 and have been using the Tello 2GB + 300min plan for a while and it's been working great until recently. I haven't been able to use my cellular data for anything except iMessage and Safari. I can't search up songs on Spotify, send snaps, etc. I have checked in settings to see if any apps have cellular data turned off and the only ones I have off are the ones that I know are turned off and use lots of data (Tiktok, Youtube, etc). Does anybody know any ways on how to fix this??
I purchased a SIM card and it should have arrived November 27. Unfortunately, USPS didn't deliver it and after checking tracking, It says to be returned to sender. Went to post office on November 29, and I was told it's already on its way back and today just received a text it has just hit the Phoenix distribution center. What should I do now? Will tello resend me the SIM Card again?
Anyone has the latest 10$ tello coupon?😊
I've been used the 6GB + 100min plan for serveral months.
I can still receive messages but no more calls are available.
What's happening?
I shared my Tello referral link on Reddit, and a few people used it, allowing me to accumulate Tello Dollars. However, when I attempted to use the bonus to order a phone, Tello canceled my order, claiming I violated their Terms of Service. This experience has been incredibly disappointing and a complete waste of time. I want to caution others against taking this route, as it may lead to similar frustrations. Personally, my family and I will no longer be using Tello, and I’ll be advising my friends to steer clear of them as well.
Device: Galaxy S23 ultra unlocked bought in the US S918U1 Esim 1: Tello. Bought, ported number from verizon and installed in US before moving Psim 1: Orange (Primary)
I am having a very difficult time getting the tello esim to use the orange sim data while outside wifi. I'm also confused on how to set the phone up so apps can get information from both sims and use both sims to reply/call depending on the contact. I think I've tried every variation of settings. Oddly I cannot get the toggle option to "Dual Sim Always On" to turn on if that's needed. I turn them both on, they both stay on. That's not a problem.
Anyway. Seeing as how this is something that tello touts as a feature...going out of the country and using the local sim's data for the tello sim to wifi call off of, is there any guidance at all here with how the settings should be set and how to functionally use it? The S23 ultra isn't some obscure phone.
I can post screen shots if anyone has gotten this to work and can actually help outside of "theoretically" or turning on tello roaming. Google voice, which is linked to the tello number actually still works on the orange sim. So I mean there us a round about but I'd rather just have the local number here in Spain and my old cell number in the US.
Thanks!
Put $20 on PAYGo for a trip to Paris via Canada. Turned on int'l roaming in Canada via the app but had no access to mobile data. Am I missing something?
TY
I just ordered my first Tello SIM card. I'm currently outside of the US so will need to forward the Tello SIM from my US address to where I am currently overseas.
I received an email from Tello today after my SIM shipped which said:
SIM Expiry:
Your Tello GSM SIM must be activated in your online account within 30 days of purchase. Failure to do so forfeits any claim to a refund or replacement for the SIM and any services purchased.
There's a chance it may take slightly longer than 30 days for me to receive my SIM card to be able to activate it, will this cause me any issues? If I only receive the SIM card after 40 days (for example) will I not be able to activate it so it will be useless?
Help please ;-)
is $20 really the minimum reload amount ? I have a couple of AMEX Business Platinum card accounts. each account will reimburse op to $10 per month in wireless charges. So, it would be optimal for me to do reloads in $10 chunks.
I live and work abroad and need 2FA, texting and maybe occasional calling from a US number once or twice a year. I lost access to my old google voice number and they don't have any new numbers at the moment last I checked. And you need a US number anyway to sign up. And I would like to not have to rely on family back home to set things up this time.
Anyway I would like to move over to Tello but I'm not sure what the best method is to both obtain and then keep active, a US phone number while spending as little as possible every month. The Tello $5 or 6 plan seems great but what about the cost to maintain the number and keep it active with the original provider? Sorry if I'm ignorant on this.
I am a US citizen. I will be visiting the US next month so I could pop into a T mobile and buy a prepaid sim. This was my initial plan But I'm pretty sure if say, a month goes by without using the number, T-mobile will cancel it no? So in addition to Tello I will have to pay another service to keep the number active correct? No way around that. If so whats the cheapest way to do it? I think T-mobile's cheapest plan is $15 per month.
Hey guys, I’m wondering, does anyone know when Tello will actually get RCS messaging? Additionally, I’m wondering. If Tello, will ever do any mergers with any other cell phone companies. And have, the same carrier availability, as US mobile. For example, the ability, for subscribers to switch to the AT&T-Verizon network? I like Tello. But, it can always be better.
I was wondering because I saw people talking about it for the 12 and 13 working but not for a esim phone.
I’m considering switching to Tello and want to know if it’s possible to port a phone number with the 787 area code (Puerto Rico).
I've been trying to create an Apple ID with the phone number I have with Tello. However, after troubleshooting with Apple, it turns out that Tello is not supported as listed here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/109526
Link is provided by Apple Support.
The email I tried to use has no problem with Apple: verification code went through fine. But when Apple tries to send verification code to the phone number, Apple just says "cannot send the code to this phone number".
Any idea on how to resolve this issue without transfer out of Tello and potentially lose a customer?
I signed up for the 5gb/$10 to use as a WFH failover WAN connection with a NightHawk hotspot. Am I correct in assuming that as long as I follow the manual renewal rules all unused data will become cumulative? For example, assuming no usage, 10gb after 2mo, 30gb after 6mo, etc? Our internet doesn't go down much, but we need a backup for the short outages and it would be nice to have a buffer should we ever have an extended outage.
Thanks!
Sometimes MMS (mostly pictures) arrive over wifi calling when I'm overseas, but most of the time they don't. When I'm in US, MMS also require data to be ON. Are my APN settings wrong? They are default and there's no option to edit them.
Please advice. Thanks.
I need a number just to receive texts. The Tello $5/mo plan seems perfect for me, but $8/mo would be significantly more expensive. I can't find any info as to whether the $3 eSIM is a one time fee. Thanks for the help in advance.
Hello guys,
I recently bought a tello esim wanting to have an American number.
Everything seemed to go smoothly, I had no issues installing the esim. However, one of the things that I truly needed were the wifi sms, as I am to receive text messages from my bank (American account).
I currently outside of the US but will be visiting in a few days. Has anybody had a similar experience? Am I missing a step?
