An inclusive space for LGBT+ folks and allies of the liberal persuasion.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_suicide_crisis_lines
This community aims to build an inclusive space for LGBT+ folks and allies that prefer to align themselves with liberal ideas.
We aim to discuss real solutions to problems that face LGBT+ people every day, within the framework of a liberal democracy. We welcome memes and articles about LGBT+ issues that are solvable with policy, as well as topics regarding social trends and issues.
We welcome people with different political persuasions to post or ask questions. Inclusivity means allowing people to post differing opinions without "ganging up" on them, so long as they follow our rules. With that said, this subreddit is not the place to debate "capitalism vs socialism", there's other places you can go to do that. Don't come here to stir up trouble or engage in bad faith.
1) Friendly Environment. No excessive hostility, no hate speech, including but not limited to: Homophobia, Transphobia, Ableism, Racism.. Don't glorify oppressive regimes or disparage groups. We strive to make this community a friendly and welcoming environment with a progressive ethos.
2) Relaxing Environment. Do not spam, annoy, or troll. Don't engage in bad faith or downvote people for having different assumptions than you. No one should ever feel uncomfortable here.
3) Quality Discussion. Excessive memeing, distasteful posts, offensive content, or unrelated posts will be removed.
3.1) Do not editorialise titles. Posts should have the same title as the source.
3.2) Do not self promote more than once a month. Only promote content that is relevant.
4) Good Neighbours. Don't brigade other communities. Don't intentionally go to other communities to create conflict that boomerangs back on us.
4.1) Don't brigade this community, don't come here to cause conflict or act in bad faith.

if there is any chance anyone could take a look at my GoFundMe for my wife and I to flee Texas I would really appreciate it. Even if you just share to your own social medias or spare just a little bit I think it could be very helpful. The last time I asked for help was when my mom passed away, it feels very awkward but we are really scared as i know many of you also are. thank you in advance
There's an influx of people coming to cause conflict right now. This is a small community with not much activity and I'm the only moderator here, so i will just be banning anyone that does this.
As a black, bisexual, disabled woman in an interracial relationship in the US…. I am so terrified right now.
I am just still in disbelief on how this countries citizens chose economics(which clearly they know nothing about just like their idiot president who has been bankrupt multiple times and wouldn’t know a tariff if it smacked him in the face) over people….. money over human rights.
It’s all so fucking sad and scary to me and I’m so frustrated.
Hi there,
I am a queer faculty member at John Jay College, currently conducting a study to explore and examine power, control, and unhealthy relationship dynamics in the LGB+** community.
Power, control, and unhealthy relationship dynamics among LGB+ individuals are generally assessed via standardized scales, which were developed on and for cis-het populations. Using these existing measures in LGB+ communities does help focus our attention on the issue. However, the use of these scales may narrow our attention to certain types of control and abuse—most common in heterosexual relationships—and we risk reproducing a heteronormative understanding of victimization and perpetration.
This leaves the actual experiences of our community invisible and ignored. The current project therefore aims to address the need for a more nuanced understanding of the lived experience of the LGB+ community.
The survey is completely confidential and will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Those who are LGB+, living in the US, and ages 18-65 are eligible to participate. You can also access the survey by clicking this link: https://gccunyep.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_20iIsNv3xjhkVzE
With gratitude and in solidarity!
**The researcher acknowledges that some may perceive the use of LGB+ as excluding trans individuals. However, it's important to note that this is not the intention of the study. In contrast, this differentiation is to honor the reality that TGNB folx experience unique forms and rates of violence. The next phase of this research will be focusing solely on trans and non-binary people.

Hi r/LiberalLGBT! F&M Global Barometers here. We’re an LGBT+ research organization housed at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, USA. We just launched the 2024 F&M Global Barometers LGBTQI+ Perception Index (GBPI), and we’d love for you to take our survey and share it widely.
The LGBTQI+ Perception Index gives the global LGBTQI+ community a chance to share their voice by answering six simple questions about safety, acceptance, fear, and experiences with violence and discrimination. The responses are used to inform policy and research and to advance LGBTQI+ human rights rights for all*.*
The survey is available until November 19, 2024, takes 2-5 minutes to complete, and is anonymous. The GBPI underwent rigorous review by Franklin & Marshall College's Institutional Review Board to ensure respondents' safety. For questions or concerns, please visit the FAQ section or contact us at gbgr@fandm.edu.
Take the survey here: www.lgbtqiperceptionindex.org/survey
Together, we can make our voices heard.
Thank you!

Hi all, I recently took around 35 hours to prepare for a talk that I had with my very conservative and Christian parents about:
The talk covered 13 topics, with data, charts, graphs, quotes, videos, articles, research, bible quotes, you name it. Crucially, I took very, very little of this from any source that is actually left-leaning, even a little bit. That was part of the key; I took nearly all of it from centrist / objective sources (like the government itself), and from conservatives and conservative sources.
All told it took about 10.5 hours a few weekends ago. 3 hours in, my mom told me she would be voting Democrat, and didn't think she was going to change her mind. My dad never verbally committed to anything, but I think I reached him as well, more than I missed the mark.
Would people be interested in having these slightly-anonymized PDFs to guide similar conversations with their own parents or relatives? If so, can I simply... share a whole slew of PDFs in a topic like this? Are there any particular rules I need to be aware of to make sure I don't break them? I want to reach as many people as possible, but don't really know where to do it.
I'm new to this subreddit and can't remember the last time I actually posted a topic on reddit at all, and I certainly never tried to share files. Please advise!
Growing up, the word "weird" was always used as an attack by mainstream people against those who are different in some way. It was always a very conservative word to me, because it was a narrow-minded slur against anything outside of the ordinary. It assumes that different = bad, without having to explain to think it through. So I feel extremely uncomfortable that democrats/liberals are embracing this word as a slur against the Trump campaign. Not because they don't deserve it, but because this word feels very illiberal to me. What do you all think?
I am current college student at a PUBLIC college in East Texas. This is the second professor I have had this year that is using propaganda articles from hard leaning right-wing websites for assignments. I have had many assignments where my professor will assign articles from The Heritage Foundation (the foundation that wrote Project 2025) and then have us list “10 facts you learned from this article” and the whole article is opinion based. I even had a psychology professor this year who quoted the Bible more often than the textbook in lecture and say offensive remarks about the LGBTQ+ community. Has anyone else had similar experiences? If so how did you navigate the situation, if at all?
m 40 years old this year, and while I've been politically "involved" for 22 years - showing up to vote, keeping tabs on politics, educating myself - I've been on the bench my whole life. Very very rarely donated, and never volunteered.
But everything is starting to change. As an LGBT man growing up in the South, it was so invigorating seeing us making serious progress over the years. If you aren't old enough to remember, a LOT of us were around for the days when being LGBT was literally illegal in over half of the county - it was 2003 when that changed. And that's just one of the major injustices I've seen overthrown in my lifetime, and I'm only 40 years old.
Now, the left is feeling beaten down. Eight years of Trump fatigue and the supreme court has been rough. But the fact of the matter is this - this election is do or die. The Republicans do not intend to EVER lose power again if they win this time around. They literally - among other things - want to eliminate thousands of federal employees and replace them with Trump loyalists. That's not opinion, that's not my take, that's what they wrote down on paper and proudly showed the world. They plan to get rid of the department of education - again, not my opinion, it's literally what they said.
So where am I going with this? Get involved. We need to get involved NOW. There are SO many ways to volunteer, and thousands have signed up, but we still have a LOT of work to do. Republicans are registering more new voters in several swing states than we are, left leaning voters are more likely to stay home and not show up, young voters especially, and turnout is always the left's biggest weak spot.
So I'm volunteering this year, for the first time in any election ever. And I'm trying to create a ripple effect of bringing people with me. Can I get three people - just three people out of all of Reddit - to commit to:
volunteering with me in some way shape or form
passing it on, seeking three friends to volunteer as well?
There are SO many ways to volunteer, even if you're not in a state that's up for grabs, and helping the presidential ticket also pretty much always helps down ballot and state level candidates (house, Senate, State Congress, governor, etc.) You can call and text individuals in swing states, you can help try to get people to sign up to vote (they target blue areas, don't worry), you can just reach out to people and give them a nudge that helps increase the odds of them showing up, you can do tech work!
The best thing about volunteering? It's not a job, you don't even have to put in a two week notice if you hate it and want to quit! :)
Let's get this chain going. Who's ready to roll our sleeves up and get this shit done?
If so, explain
What are you gonna do if Trump wins 2024? (Keep comments civil and appropriate)
They’re talking about the suspected shooter. But then go on to say that trans people should be put in concentration camps??? Wtf.
