Complaints or feature requests are permitted here for venting/daydreaming purposes but if you really want your voice to be heard you should take it up with Google directly.
Also, if asking about a specific place, please provide a link instead of posting latitude / longitude coordinates as plain text and forcing users to copy and paste it themselves. C'mon, dude.

I'm having an ongoing issue with Google Maps deciding that a business address which is a couple of miles away from my house is actually located down my driveway and into a corn field behind my house.
I've reported the address error 3 times now, and each time I've received email that my edit has been accepted, but yet Maps never actually updates. Up until this week it was a steady stream of Instacart, Doordash and Walmart delivery drivers showing up at my door confused, but last night I had an 18 wheeler show up in my driveway and proceed to get stuck, tearing up my driveway and lawn before having to call a wrecker to extract them.
How the heck can I actually contact someone who can actually make the edit and put this issue to bed?
On mobile there's a handful of blue save icons all over my map. They're not places I've saved or even ever been, but some are. I have the icons turned off in all the other categories. Is there some setting I'm missing?
Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh. Countries - Israel, Palastine, Syria, Pakistan, India, Ukraine.
Is this intentional, to avoid any backlash from those countries or is it any legal regulation ?
The company I work for has a number of offices across the country. People are rating their experience with us on Google Maps as if we are a point of interest - namely a small minority unhappy customers. But reviews on Google Maps feel inappropriate given they're not related to the location. Image everyone that wanted to complain about Reddit finds their HQ on Google Maps and writes their unhappiness there. Besides the obv trying to make every customer experience perfect, is their a way to keep these off Google Maps (they feel like they belong somewhere like TrustPilot instead)
I see this question on the internet quite a bit, most always the discussions include words such as: divorce, lying, cheating, d-bag, ho, etc, etc... The question being, "Why does my or my partner's timeline place me/them at random hotels?"
Assuming "make assumptions at your own risk" that you/they were NOT actually visiting the Econo Lodge for 46 minutes between that stop at Chick-fil-A and picking up the kids from soccer practice, then chances are likely that the unverifiable "quickie" that has you asking who's going to keep the house was actually caused by a very expensive but necessary system called a Distributed Antenna System or DAS.
In short, it's a WiFi booster but for your cellphone and/or emergency radios. Typically, depending on which specific system, there's either one very strong, or many working together, antenna that boost/create the signals from outside to the building's interior. Large commercial buildings that potentially have lots of people in them (especially sleeping people, like a hotel) are required by law to have them in order for first responders to maintain a strong and clear line of communication between those inside and those outside. To do this through the concrete, wood, or metal walls (sometimes AOTA) of the building it's installed in it has to create a very strong signal, very. The signal is SO strong that it often leaves the building and is picked up by your phone while waiting in the 40-car-long Chick-fil-A line -- even if the hotel you, "met up with your ex at", is across the street and a half block down. In a nutshell, your phone is always reaching out for other phones, satellites, Wi-Fi signals, etc, in order to determine it's location (to document in your timeline). So that Days Inn next to the gas station you filled up at last week, sent such a clear and perfect signal to your phone, that it's soon to be your doghouse because the locks have been changed and your packing your suitcase in the front lawn where all of your clothes are now to be found.
Sure, you/ they could be just as guilty as accused, but hopefully this will help you to at least think twice before jumping to the worst case scenario. And remember, nothing worth having is free-- this especially includes a personal GPS life tracker brought to you by Google.
IIRC you could only do this on the app.
Anyone know when it got added?
FYI: Search for a place, click get directions, then you should see a "Search along this route" box at the top of your screen.
I love to browse Google Maps and "visit" the places I've been to before but can't currently go. There's a section in the middle of a historic part of town in Savannah, GA where the Street View had been up to date as recent as 2022. Now, that same section of the street is only up to date to 2019. Why does only this one section no longer have a See Past Dates option? It used to!
Update: It's the same on my phone as well. Just checked.
I was just using my mouse looking at Algeria and Libya's southern deserts, but then i came to a potentially small rock formation (probably) near Eoj Wahs where i found the rockies where the ''pearl'' was. Just search up Eoj Wahs and go up to the northern formations kilometers away.
Sorry if this is a FAQ but could not find anything related in search.
I'm on MacOS latest with Google Chrome latest, no VPN, Intel Mac Mini if that matters
When i open Google Maps in Chrome incognito mode everything works as expected. Without clicking the location icon in the lower right corner i can see a map overview of where i live. Clicking the location icon zooms in and shows a blue dot right on my roof. Great.
When i'm in a logged in session the browser always default me to a location in Washington DC, 38.891311,-76.9983807 to be precise. There is a small blue dot that indictates my wrong location. This is annoying because i have to scroll and zoom to where i live but it also uses this location as a default "from" for navigation. Sure there are workaround like bookmarking my location in the URL and using a "home" adress in navigation but it keep being quite annoying.
I see the very same behaviour at a second physical location that is a few km away from my home. Same setup (Chrome/Mac/No VPN), but i'm using a different ISP.
What i've already tried to solve this with no success:
Is there anything else i'm missing that i can try? Instead of 'making it work somehow' i would like to fix the issue.
EDIT: I keep investigating. When i turn on my VPN it stops showing the Washington location and it points me at the geographic center of my city (the one you find in databases), but not my house. When i use Safari browser i get the same behaviour as in Chrome: correct when logged out, Washington when logged in.
Send directions to phone is suggesting a phone i don't have, is this a sign my account was compromised or is it just a glitch?
I'm working on a guide in Apple Maps for some restaurants in town that have closed, and I've had luck finding them so far but there is one that's giving me a lot of trouble. It seems to be missing entirely.
The thing is, I do see it on Google Maps still. I've been trying to research if Apple Maps will eventually get rid of listings that are permanently closed but can't seem to find an answer. Does Google?
For reference, this is the restaurant I can't find on Apple Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XVXZymMjW54NJ21d7?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
I live in a neighborhood with a lot cut thru traffic and no sidewalks. The DOT has agreed to lower the speed limits throughout the neighborhood to 20 mph. A few signs have been changed to 20, but not all. They have changed the signs everywhere on a smallish perimeter road from 30 to 25, but GoogleMap still shows 30. Some roads within the neighborhood are also showing 30 even though the speed limit was never 30 and none are showing 20. Basically, everything is either wrong on not updated. Any thoughts on how updating speed limits is done? Thanks
I need a way to be able to select only a few of my saved places to be visible on google maps. I have all my customer's addresses entered into Maps. Roughly around 500. I would like to be able to 'select' only the customers who have a delivery coming to be visible on Maps to help with truck routing. Some days I'd like to see only 30 of my 500. Is this feature available in Maps either native or with an extension? Is there another map that can do this? Bing maps, rand mcnalley, yahoo, whatever. Any help is appreciated.
Hey I really hope someone can help, I didn't realize I did but I clicked on deleting timelines after 3 months and was wondering if there's a way to restore them?
Thank you
Recently someone i know who has behavioural issues posted pictures of me as a review in my elementary school and typed out a racist comment on top of it. The review has nothing to do with the place and it has a picture of me. I have reported the review multiple times as well as the account these past few days but nothing is happening. How do I remove it or actually get the account banned and do I need to send a link to the review here?
Hey guys - I currently work for a pallet company and have created a series of google maps “My Maps” with pins that show where new wood pallet operations are located as well as sawmills and potential new pallet opportunities. This is an extremely arduous process because I’m hovering over locations on google maps (satellite view), clicking on google pictures, videos, and using streetview, etc to gauge if the operation uses new wood pallets - If I can SEE new wooden pallets.
Is there a program/app out there that you are able to upload a number of example pictures into and it will scan google maps and/or streetview in a designated area (city, zip code, area code, etc)? In this case wooden pallets?? Any help greatly appreciated!
I just updated my phone and want to import my old phone's timeline. However, there is no option allowing me to import the old phone( it is downloaded and recording with on the other phone). It doesn't show up on the new phone but my new phone shows up on the app of my old phone?. Where do I go to resolve this?
Slightly less then a month ago, I sent a request to google to blur my house on google earth street view and my house is still unblurred. Is something wrong with what I did or does it just take that long?
I've contributed a few edits to Maps, and most are accepted eventually. The most frustrating repeated rejection, however, is just around the corner from my house. It's a small riverside park called Edgewater Bank (bank as in river bank). Google will NOT accept the edits that I have sent in stating that Edgewater Bank is not a Financial Institution. I've included photos of the park and park sign, but every time it is rejected and the map continues to errantly show a (financial) bank in my neighborhood, where there is none. Are there any ways of appealing a rejected edit, or will Maps be doomed to continue in misinformation whenever an English word has two meanings?
I have google maps and I’ve looked up on google best basketball courts. Now every time I go onto google maps it’s showing up all the courts. I was wondering how can I get rid of this. I tried to add a photo but I won’t let me.

I tried everything, even delete all google data and passwords and still have the same issue.
It seems insane that I can’t just figure this out, but: Links that are part of Google Maps retailer profiles (eg the websites of restaurants etc) open up in Chrome.
I desperately want them to open up in Safari, which is what I mainly use. They did this once upon a time and then I somehow must have changed a setting, and cannot for the life of me find the setting to revert it. I feel like a caveman.
Can anyone point me to the right place to change this setting?
I have an iPhone 14 running iOS 18.1.1 and Google Maps 24.49.3.
TIA!
Was looking for hotels in the Philly area and saw that there was a concert setup up/ take down at Lincoln Financial Field. Seems like it may be the eras tour based off stage size and the sheer number of semi trucks.
Hi everyone!
Many of us, including myself, recently discovered that our Google Maps Timeline data has disappeared due to the migration from the cloud-based Timeline system to the on-device version. If you’ve been affected by this, I want to say how sorry I am that this happened to you. This is incredibly frustrating, and for so many of us, that data represented years of cherished memories.
I wanted to share what I’ve done so far to try and get Google’s attention and encourage all of you to join in. If enough of us come together, we might just make a difference. I’ll go over everything in this post, but in an attempt to organize as much data as possible, I’ve also created a website to collect and organize this information. It allows users to submit their stories or share links to other websites where they’ve posted their story. You can check it out at https://SaveGoogleTimeline.com (backup available at https://SaveOurTimeline.com)
This is a widespread issue, and the more people who raise their voices, the more likely Google is to notice and take action. Here’s how you can contribute:
1. Share Your Story and Raise Awareness
There are several ways you can share your experience and help amplify this issue:
2. Post in the Community Support Forums
Some product experts may say it’s your fault or that nothing can be done. DON’T LET THEM GET UNDER YOUR SKIN. Thank them for their response, and calmly reiterate your request to escalate the issue to the Maps team.
If you’d like, I can draft a template for Community Support posts or letters to Google, but personal stories are likely to be more impactful. Try to include details about your experience and how your data was lost.
3. Send a Letter to Google
Explain your situation in a respectful letter and mail it to Google LLC. I’m not posting the full address here to comply with Rule #1, but it’s easy to find via a quick Google search. If you’re having trouble locating it, you can also find it listed on SaveGoogleTimeline.com
Tell them your Timeline data is gone, explain how important the data is to you, tell them how devastating this is, and ask them to investigate.
This may seem like a small step, but Google does notice these letters. If enough of us take action, it can demonstrate the scope of the issue and encourage them to respond.
4. Submit Feedback Through the Maps App
While I don’t know how effective this will be, it was recommended by a Google employee, so it’s still worth doing. The more reports Google receives, the better. Instructions from Google on how to submit feedback can be found here
Google Maps Timeline has been an essential tool for so many of us, whether for tracking trips, revisiting memories, or keeping a personal log of life events. Losing this data is more than inconvenient; it’s heartbreaking.
If we can show Google how widespread and important this issue is, we have a much better chance of convincing them to take action.
Once I have some stats on how many people have been affected by this, I plan to reach out to tech journalists and writers to ask them to cover the issue. Getting media coverage will help put additional pressure on Google to address this problem, but I need to hear from all of you first! Your stories and support are crucial to making this happen.
This is a massive issue, but it’s important we stay respectful and organized in our efforts. Together, we can make our voices heard and push for a solution.
If you have any questions, ideas or comments, feel free to share them here.
If you know someone who has lost their Timeline data or would be interested in supporting this cause, please share this post with them. The more people we can bring together, the stronger our voice will be.
Hello Everyone!
About a year ago, I started my business, and like most people, the first thing I did was create a Google Maps profile. I didn’t anticipate how much of a headache this would turn out to be.
Verification Issues:
Since then, I’ve moved my office to a new location. When I tried to update my Google Maps profile, it locked me out, requiring verification before I could make any changes.
I understand the need for verification to prevent fraud, which is fine. But here’s where things get frustrating:
First red flag: The only verification option available to me is by video. This means I have to physically go to my old office location and prove that I own the business to make any changes.
But here’s the problem—I moved offices!
Fine, I went back to my old office location to record a video for verification. But it failed. The reasons?
Here’s the kicker: Both my old and current offices are in shared office spaces (like Regus). They don’t display my business name anywhere, and there’s no “staff-only” area in a shared office environment.
So basically, all I can do is:
This is exactly what I did, and it wasn’t enough.
Can someone please help me figure out how to navigate this impossible verification process? I’d really appreciate any advice to escape this nightmare. Thank you!
I checked the university website, found out the hours and told Google to update it as open. Then, I forgot the photo with it. Will it go through or I will face restrictions
One of them just came back as not acceptable
Edit: both came as not accepted, I learned once they review a edit, they don't care

Caught by Google Maps While Transporting a Dismembered Body in Soria
The National Police Solves a Murder with the Help of Street View
A picture is worth a thousand words. A red car, a hunched man, and a large white bag. This was the composition that allowed the National Police to solve a murder case that had remained unsolved for over a year. No witnesses, no fingerprints, no traces of blood—Google Maps' Street View was the evidence that cracked the case.
Periodically, vehicles from the tech giant travel streets and roads across the globe. Just a few days ago, one of these cars, equipped with numerous cameras on its roof, photographed every corner of Tajueco in Soria (Castilla y León). A routine visit—until it reached El Norte Street. There, an old red Rover was parked like any other day, and next to it was a man loading a large bundle into the trunk. It could have been an ordinary, everyday scene, but it turned out to be the key piece in the puzzle the National Police had been trying to solve since November 2023.
Since that date, national officers, along with the Civil Guard, had been searching for a 40-year-old Cuban man. The young man had come to Spain looking for his wife, and from that moment on, he vanished without a trace. Nothing was known, and no one knew his whereabouts.
After a long period of investigation, coincidence sounded the alarm: the image of a man placing a large white plastic bag into the trunk of a car on El Norte Street in Tajueco.
Google provided the answer the National Police had been searching for. The red Rover belonged to the so-called "Wolf of Tajueco." From that moment, officers tapped the suspect's phone and discovered that he was living with the Cuban wife of the missing man. After months of listening to the couple's conversations, both were arrested and charged with the crime.
After ten months of investigation, the case has been solved. The dismembered remains of the young Cuban man were found in the cemetery of the nearby village of Andaluz, just twelve minutes from the spot where the key image was taken.
