Anyone else’s engine feel like it runs hot as? Even by the exhaust area? Maybe I notice it because it’s not tucked away like my road bike but I feel like engine just gets so hot.
What’s everyone running if you’ve got one? I’ve seen the Wiseco but also seen people say can do better but not mention any. Who’s got some thoughts to chuck out there? Anyone used the EFI power tuner from Yamaha? It says for yz/wr
So I don’t know much about dirt bikes, except from what I learned from my husband who used to ride before we had a kid. He no longer owns any, and I wanted to buy him one. We live in the mountains so wanted one that’s street legal that he can just take off from home on, and hit the various trails in our area. I wanted to buy him a brand new one as he’s supported our family for the 15 years we’ve been together, solely on his own income, and he deserves a brand new bike. Now, he had said he wanted a wr250, and the obvious choice would be the 250r since it’s street legal. But after looking at Yamahas site, I seen they no longer make it and discontinued it after 2020. So is the new wr250f street legal now? Or what’s a good alternative for a new bike? I seen the new dual sport ones on their site, and they’re ugly af and definitely not what my husband would want. Please help me with some recommendations and/or advice, thanks so much y’all!
I’ve seen bolt kits for the WRF but not the WRR. Anyone know if there is one for the R?
Why choose the WR250 when a WR450 is only 10-15 lbs heavier? I want a WR250X and that doesn’t come as a 450. But I’m wondering
Anyone know the kms left in the bike when the light comes on with safari tank?
Putting this out there in case it helps others in the future. I was prepping my 08 WRR for sale, it’s been very reliable to this point. There was some old gas in the tank, I siphoned it and put in fresh and it was running well.
Buyer comes over, bike cranks and sputters but won’t start. Tried a few times, no dice. I could hear the fuel pump and it would occasionally run for 5 seconds and die.
I replaced the plug (unknown age, probably original), no change. Popped the pump out and swapped it, no change. Got a quantum fuel pressure regulator from Amazon (holy balls slow shipping) and swapped it today, fixed. Back to easy starts and running great. Hoping the buyer is still interested.
Can someone recommend me a good, branded clutch slave pump for my bike. I read Magura HYMAC pump will fit but when I asked from a dealer he said it doesn’t fit. Thanks
I travelled with a WRR for two years in NA and loved the balance it has between cost, weight and performance. I'm in Europe now, where it was never sold for very long and finding a used one is difficult. Has anyone found something that might fill these roles better than the pricey 500EXC or the somewhat heavy CRF300L?
What’s everyone running on their bikes rear sprocket for highway travel to their dirt spots? My rear is 51 currently as just purchased and the guy suggested to change it to the 49 in the box.
I love the WR. This is my 3rd (tho it's technically an X).
First one I sold, later I purchased another (stolen) and replaced with this.
After the gorace suspension mods, the bike is perfect. I've owned many adv bikes, including gpx TSE250R, Honda Africa Twin ATAS, KTM 500 EXC '22 year, and now a '23 Aprilia Tuareg.
Out of all these machines, the WR simply does it all, and so so well. I think many (and perhaps the most common path) get into the sport with similar class bikes (crf300, kawi 300, etc), and many believe they will have more fun on a larger bike (KTM typically comes to mind) and later "upgrade."
I have found, tho probably a necessary path on my 2 wheel pallet, that the fun factor on a machine that is significantly more reliable, less maintenance and overall cheaper, turns out to provide more fun than any of the other psuedo race consumer bikes offer.
Part of the reason I like to share the WR content, is to highlight how capable these bikes are, with direct comparison to KTM, Honda 450s with other riders out in the SoCal area.
Edit: the title is meant to be “it says the sub is for Wr250r and Wr250x whats the differences between these”
Hi Everyone!
I was doing an oil change on my 2012 wr250r and I tightened the bolt to much to where it broke off. Rookie mistake on my part. I was wondering if any one had any ideas on how to get it out?
I am aware of easyouts / reverse threads but I worry that the bolt is too small for it. I dont want to damage the original threads.
Without the bolt there it leaks a little but no drips of oil on the group. Just some residue on the outside of the housing. Its fine for now but I need to fix it asap
Any advise would be wonderful TYIA
I dont have a picture of my specific machine but here is what bolt is broken
