Season 3

So I've never seen this show and I'm watching it now. And the chick. The one about the show. I don't like her being a bad person in the beginning of season 3 !! She's playing this guy and I don't know how I feel that. And the blind guy is marrying some other chick that's not the cover affairs chick?

anyone else think season 5 sucks…

makes me sad.. sorry need a rant here cause McQuaid is the WORST character on the whole show i thought he was only gonna be like a short encounter but then he’s the whole seasonnn. i forced myself to watch the first half of the season because i love this show and couldn’t let go. then skipped to the finale cause i just couldn’t handle their relationship they had ZERO chemistry i’m so sad i didn’t want to give up on this show but YIKES

S4 was a bit of a slog

Been binge watching the show for a few weeks. I feel like season 4 was extremely predictable and was really tough to power through. The dynamics of all the change took away much of what made the show great for the first 3 seasons; namely, the interactions between Auggie and Annie. But Joan and Arthur’s situations also took them out quite a bit as well. The Henry storyline had potential, but it felt dragged out and overly complicated.

EDIT: >!OK, the payoff was pretty good. I was literally like, “Shoot his ass!” when they met in the alley!<

Where are all the fans? 😩

I'm sure we've all been into other shows and of course life is lifing all over the place, but Covert Affairs will ALWAYS hold a special place in my comfort show heart. 🥰 Just me?

I'm currently watching S4E3 "Into The White" but after it goes off, I'm rolling it back to S1E1.

Who's up for a fresh discussion? 👀 let's open some windows and get some air circulating up in here! ☺

Season 5 Impressions

Characters seemed like total strangers in the season. As a result I didn’t real care what happened to them as it already felt like the characters were killed off. Someone in another post said management Changed which would explain it but what are your thoughts on season 5?

What spy series/movies are you watching now or have watched currently?

I tried watching True Lies. I loved the movie, but the new series is terrible.

I am watching The Company You Keep on ABC. So far it seems to be pretty interesting and is maintaining my interest.

I'm about halfway through season 5, so no spoilers please, but...

I can't keep it to myself any more. Annie is the absolute worst. She is selfish, stubborn, arrogant, and disrespectful. She's a terrible sister, a worse friend, an insubordinate employee. She has no loyalty or trust whatsoever - I really find myself actively rooting against her as I'm watching. In a few episodes I'll happily discuss this in detail in a spoiler filled thread, but for now...AAAARRRRGGHHHHH!!!

Filming Locations

I am new to this show !!! and am wondering how much is filmed on location. It does seem like they use green screens for some of the "location" shots. Just curious if they film at any of the foreign locations.

Any good Fanfictions - that aren't Annie/Auggie romance

Any preferably complete fanfictions with Jai/Annie, Jai/Auggie, or Auggie/Parker?

I could take Auggie with any love interest besides Annie or an OC

I recently started watching this show and want more content. I want more Jai.

80% is even better.

Just watched through and stopped at the end of Season 4. I liked it so much better than finishing all 5 seasons. It just ends on a more hopeful note, and I didn't have to descend into the confused mess that is Season 5. I've always thought that Season 5, especially the latter half, seemed rushed and annoying. It felt like the writers were expecting another season but learned partway through of the cancellation, so they had to hurry up and write a series conclusion when they weren't ready to be finished.

sloppy location work

i’m only a couple episodes in, and i’ve noticed a few things like signs that say “subway” even though it would be “metro” in dc, and street advertisement banners for .ca websites. is this something that’s this poorly done for the whole show?

Sights Unseen special episodes?

I'm watching the series for the third time. Does anyone know if there's a place to watch/stream the special prequel episodes that were released near the beginnings of seasons 3 & 4? They might have been available only on the USA Network website at the time, but I'd like to find them if they're still around somewhere.

Just binge-watched all 5 seasons. Here are my thoughts....

Here are my thoughts on Annie, Auggie, Campbells and the Wilcoxes.....

  1. The series started out sort of lightweight campy/jokey (seasons 1-2 with the sister, AW never used a gun, she drove high speed chases in the little red VW) then it turned into a serious spy drama (seasons 3-5- JW gets blown up, AW uses a gun, smiles less, kills more). Was this story arc intentional? Or did the writers decided to change the feel of the series?

  2. I am team Auggie. Auggie ( Christopher Gorham) was so sexy, swaggy. I did see why the female characters threw themselves at him. If you are a straight guy, or a lesbian, you wouldn't get it. When he was walking with a person and not using cane, he had a sexy walk, too.

  3. Jai Wilcox (actor Sendhil Ramamurthy) was a gorgeous man. Scrumptious! He looked like a God. Especially when he smiled. His character was confusing, however. He was sometimes the good guy, and often times the bad guy. I loved it when he would come through for Angie (the good guy).

  4. The entire Henry Wilcox story line SUCKED. It was effing AWFUL. It went on for way too long. And I know you're supposed to suspend belief when watching TV shows and movies, but this storyline stretched the limits of credibility of the show. Probably contributed to the viewership decline in S5. This story line did get better toward the end of S4. The Belenko storyline (s5) kinda sucked too, but not as bad as the Wilcox story line. Writers: limit the overarching story lines to 3 or 4 episodes max.

  5. I whooped out loud when Eyal rescued Annie from the prison. That was perfect. I loved Eyal and Annie's relationship. Eyal (Oded Fehr) was sexy in a way. Very smooth! He seemed to show up when Annie was in a pinch. ETA: I loved whenever Eyal would call Annie "neshama." They shared a profound and deep affection.

  6. Calder Michael's character annoyed me 2/3 of the time. I did like him 1/3 of the time when he revealed he was on Team Campbell/Walker/Anderson.

  7. I liked Joan and Arthur's characters. The writers did make Arthur's character kind of wimpy in the last season. He turned into a yes man, his character ran flat. I liked Joan's character, especially when they showed multiple dimensions to her character.

  8. Overall, I liked the Annie Walker character. However, she was annoying sometimes when she would not follow orders or reason. The actor, Piper Perabo, is a darn good actress. Pretty too. Also, pretty as a brunette (S4).

  9. Annie will always love Auggie. When Annie screamed Auggie's name when searching for him after the bombing in S5, I felt that! That felt real, and raw. I didn't like how the writers had them break up however. Simply them telling each other they would move didn't feel believable. It seemed only like a writing/plot convenience.

  10. Favorite scenes: when Eyal saved Annie from the prison; when the lady assassin could have killed Annie, s5, but instead cut off Annie's zip ties, and told her that they were on the same side, and may edit to add more favorite scenes later.

Annie is a terrible spy and just not good at her job

I’m watching Covert Affairs and good loooooord, is she irritating. They keep pretending like/expecting us to believe she’s good at her job but it honestly seems like she’s a pretty terrible spy. No discernible skills that would make her a good spy besides that she can speak a lot of languages. Constantly acts like she knows better than everyone else, even the people who are faaaaar more experienced than her. Falls in love with a villainous target???

I mean, likeeee… I’m not a fan as far as badass superwomen spies go. Give me Sidney Bristow any day.

It got SUPER REAL in season 3!

Our girl went from witnessing Jai get blown up 😩 to being reassigned to a new division/new boss/new dynamics, and PLUNGED into a new op that sent her around the world and back all in what, 30 hours? 🤯 #GUSTO

A few of my favorite scenes from season 3

Still watching S3, but a few of my favorite scenes are when Annie escaped prison and saw who rescued her, and when that person embraced Auggie at the office. No spoilers, please.

Anyone else have Covert Affairs in your current binge-watch rotation?

I can't be the only one on earth who still watches this show on a regular basis and thinks, "MAAAANNN I can't believe this show got cancelled!" lol.

I just recently learned about Reddit while searching the internet looking for current fan pages/discussion groups to talk Covert Affairs with, because I don't personally know anyone else who's ever watched it as much as I do. I was super excited to come across this platform only to find the majority of the conversations are old and archived; super bummer.

Anywho, here I am.....sending this post out into the void while S2E5 "Around The Sun" plays in the background.....hoping to "cross digital paths" with a few other fans who love this show as much as I do.

Let's talk about it!

Let's start a fresh conversation

So most of the older posts have been archived and cannot be commented on which is a bummer, because there’s some good ones I would have loved to chime in on. Lots of varying opinions of the show, but here are my thoughts:

I was hooked from the first time I watched, which was somewhere in season 2 while it was still airing on tv. I ended up buying the whole series on DVD, which was my first time ever buying a series, and have binge-watched SEVERAL times over the years. I recently bought the whole digital series too so I’m always watching it. I know just about every line of every episode and I recite them often, lol. I was super bummed when the show got canceled because I felt there were so many stories lines to be explored.

Annie was definitely a different person by the last season, but we have to keep in mind that she experienced a lot throughout her career that she never really decompressed from, starting with the very first episode: shoot-out in the hotel room with fake Staas, violent fight with real Staas in the subway station (sooo many shoot-outs & knock-down/drag-outs; that girl kicks some ass!) manipulated and shot by Lena, captured for getting her revenge not knowing if she would ever get out. She bounced back and literally pushed through the pain of it all to keep doing what she loved, and she never let anything stop her. That is PASSION! I’m sure there were several instances where she felt the fear, but she did that s—t anyway and that’s the thing I admire about her the most. Yes, I realize a lot of it was theatrics……yes she had a tendency to be impulsive and there were several instances where she could have been more inconspicuous but none of that negates the fact that she was BADASS, at least in my book.

I love all the characters (except Henry of course) and I love the overall flow of the show. I think the first two seasons were more about Annie getting acclimated to the profession, but boy did it get real in season three. Although Lena turned out to be a real piece of work, I think she was also the catalyst for the direction of the show. I could go on and on but I’ll pause here. As I said in my first post, this is my absolute favorite crime drama and I’ve been looking for people to talk Covert Affairs with for years. If you love the show and watch as much as I do, let’s get a fresh conversation going! Favorite episodes, favorite lines, favorite characters, etc….

Just finished watching. Loved the ending!!

Decided to post, since I saw so many people disliking the end. I felt the same way I did about game of thrones, maybe not the way people wanted it to end, but really cool.

Well, by “loved the ending”, I don’t mean the whole “Got it” thing, but where each character ended up. I’ll mostly talk about Annie, because her outcome is impacted deeply by the other characters' outcomes First, I have to start by saying that since episode 1, I think Annie is lost. She might this brilliant, super savvy woman, but still, she is lonely and lost. The fact that she is super attached to some random man, she spent a couple of weeks with, in a foreign country, who she knew nothing about, speaks for itself. A 20/30 year old adult would want their own place, where they can be free to do whatever they want, she lives with her sister, to avoid loneliness.

In the early seasons, she makes deep connections, and meets people who make her feel like she belongs(Auggie, Eyal, Joan, even Jai). That impacts her life a lot, it reflects a lot on her decisions, on/off the job, her appearance, clothes etc. The thing is, throughout the show, she loses most of those connections, because of multiple reasons. Joan has a kid, Jai dies, Auggie and her break up, Danielle moves away, Eyal decides to get back together with his ex(this one was the dealbreaker for her. In my opinion, Eyal was the only thing keeping her from shutting everyone out completely, in the later seasons. When he tells her about it, you can almost see a little piece of her dying inside, as if she was waiting for him to save her from herself), and they are replaced with a single person, who is the only one she truly trusts in the end: Ryan Mcquaid Don’t get me started on this dude, he is a widower, ex military, loner, gazillionare. So basically the only person in the world who is as cold and detached, as her, in this point of the show. They are perfect for each other. Now, I don’t know if the idea of the show, was losing track of what it was about in the beginning, just like how Annie lost track of the important things in her life, but that’s the only reason I could think of for the later seasons to be so different than the first 2. Anyways, I really enjoyed how every aspect of this series seemed to concomitantly change, with Annie. Maybe I’m over analysing a show that it’s supposed to be a cop/CIA basic TV series, but I enjoy doing it lol.

Annie and Auggie

I just binged this show and does anyone else think Annie and Auggies relationship ended weird? I feel like there was so much more to explore with them and then the show ended with not much closure.
