"Mateo's going to law school?" / "I'm 18."

These writers have no clue what they're doing or talking about.

I've harped on this point before to an audience of one to none on this subreddit, but I'm going to do it again:

"Mateo's going to law school?" With everything they've laid out so far, assuming Mateo is more or less a regular person, he graduates high school at 18, college at 22, and if he's on a gap year right now, he might be 23 already. Then law school.

Following this line of thought, at his youngest, Mateo would 21 because he got into the 21 and over club to perform with no issues (meaning he probably graduated high school and/or college a bit early).

Anika is in HIGH SCHOOL. She's 16 at the oldest since she somehow went from practicing driving to being able to drive on her own.

Of course that would not be a normal or appropriate age gap at all. And if Mateo is going to law school, he might want to look up "statutory rape" even though everything is consensual and apparently with the approval of the Truman parents. "She's not pregnant she's on birth control." Even the states with Romeo and Juliet laws might not cover Mateo's ass.

Ah but the TWIST to try and avoid creepiness: "I'm 18." And prior, Mateo's father says "Mateo, you're going to college" as if he hasn't already been to undergraduate. And it is more common for the gap year to be BEFORE college rather than after, but it can vary.

The writers clearly have no idea how higher education works and didn't bother to do any research to make it consistent. While Mateo's parents can dream of sending him to law school, he still needs to make it through undergrad first since that's how it works in America. Then again, the college tour episode showed that none of the writers have ever stepped foot on a college campus before.

Good lord what dumb writers and a dumb episode.

What spoiled entitled kids. "GIVE US OUR COLLEGE MONEY." If you don't want to go to college, which the money is earmarked for, then get regular jobs like regular people and start saving up for your musical dreams. Good lord.

I do have some sympathy for Mateo since his dad apparently blew the college fund he promised him. While no one is entitled to money from their parents, it is a dick move to lead them on and let them make certain life decisions then not deliver afterward. (Oh, and, YOU'RE A DRUNK DAD!)

Mateo and Anika being a window into for relationships for Neil and Grace (and Mateo's parents... for some reason) is lousy as well. Same with their song at the end.

Can we just get to Adriana's full bitch betrayal and manipulation attempts already, where if there's any justice, they'll blow back in her face? My guess is Simon is going to surprise us and not try to steal grace like we all think he will.

One more episode to see it through but then this show can RIP. Each episode is worst than the last. I hope Matt Passmore finds a better gig in the future.
