So I get that they are somehow sharing some big dream and that the nerd dude has figured out some way to mind control folks through their dreams but he needs some kind of super dreamer to do that. Tess has that ability but nerd dude can’t really control her so he wants her son because a little kid should be easier to control.
And for some reasons Tess’s mother either kidnapped or helped someone kidnap the little boy and super gaslight Tess (and her sister?) into thinking he didn’t exist was just a delusion. I’m assuming because Mama knew about Tess’s ability and he might have inherited it.
But what I don’t get is how the black fellow went to an apartment in NYC?, walked through a refrigerator to somewhere else while in a dream and actually ended up with the actual kid. Is he some kind of magician or did he sort of super sleep walk to where the kid was?
The show had immense potential. Yet they discontinued after the second season. At least the makers could have finished after giving answers to many questions that originated after the second season.
I loved it! When I saw that the spoiler post was from 2y ago it was like “oh, oh...”, then I saw it.
As I hadn’t even heard about the show I can kinda understand.. but canceling it when the show’s world opens up, and Tess steps up.. meh.
Hopefully something might get them to try again... brb, gotta write an screenplay lmao
Anyway. Im fascinated by dreams and loved the concept. Hopefully it will spark more things.
How do you feel/think about the show?
Is there any supernatural humans or creatures in this show or is it just humans who have a recurring dream?
Been binging this on prime and this scene really stuck out for me - it's frustrating how common it is to see mental health handled the wrong way in movies and TV, and then this scene comes along from nowhere and just hits it out of the park. I was dumbfounded after seeing it, I couldn't believe how perfect they got it.
I couldn't find anything on google confirming whether its been canceled or not so anyone know anything about whether there's going to be a season 3? I just finished bingeing this and at least give me another episode, not leave me with the ending of episode 10.
They haven’t thought about the fact that no matter if they put bad dreamers in jail they’ll still need sleep and dream? you cant stop a dreamer like that. I cant believe this hasn’t come up until now??
My theory is that the "Robert Eacey" (retrace boy) is The Black Keys. I could be wrong, but that's my theory and I'm sticking with it.
Whoops, forgot to put up last night's thread. Discuss the finale and the season as a whole here.
As someone who dabbles in lucid dreaming (at the very least I vividly dream most nights) I love the concept of the show. Yet I struggle to fall asleep I feel like I've missed the explanation of how the characters manage to fall asleep so darn fast. Can anyone shed any light on this?
.......... to manipulate the NYC mayoral race? Not something more lofty like manipulating world leaders, industrialists, or Wall Street head honchos?
This is reminiscent of a short-lived drama on NBC a few years ago where, following a fatal car crash, a cop experiences two realities: one where his wife died & son survives, and one where his wife survived & his wife died. Every time he went to sleep he woke up in the other reality. Wasn't really explained why this was happening, but the crash was caused by a colleague trying to kill him because he & their boss were involved in drug dealing and they thought he knew about it, but he really didn't.
Hi, in last episode, when the barman told to Woody: They dropped two bills. What's that's mean?
My first language is not English, so what's bills exactly means in this context?
Thanks!
whats the deal with the story line about that guy in the start of the season who pretending to be her friend but in truth was just tracking her for one of the shady orginzations trying to "help" her.. any one know why they just dropped that story line this season along with the green sneaker people story line from last season... we all know the writing quality has dropped off a cliff, but straight up dropping story line from the start of this season and going on like it never happened. unless im totally retarded and that guy was actually just working for mary mccormak's character? not sure what to make of it, but once again, what a horrible drop in quality from one of the most promising first seasons in a long while... sad smiley face
I just remembered : at the end of season one, Burton woke up in a bed, handcuffed. The lady in red from his dreams entered the room and placed green sneakers to his feet. It obviously meant she was part of that strange group and predicted that Burton would join them, unwillingly or not.
However there is no mention to that in season 2 and we find Burton free, on his own, as if it never happened.
It doesn't really make sense to me... Did I miss something ?
Just watched season 2 first episodes... oh my god, this is so bad !
I know the original showrunners (Blake Masters and Henry Bromell) were replaced by Rémi Aubuchon for this new season (because of Bromell's death I guess), so yeah I can get that the show might change a little obviously, but come on the guy just denatured everything that made the greatness of season 1 !
Ok there is way more rhythm, action, suspens and horror/tension in this season, I can get that some people are excited about that, but wasn't it the lack of those things that made Falling Water such an original and awesome show ? I mean this constant blurry, sleep-inducing atmosphere, the awkward feeling of never knowing what was reality or dream, the omnipresent and languishing background music, the characters desperately looking for answers but always too far from grasping the meaning of it all and irreversibly caught in the stream of dreams lurking on reality, season 1 introduced us to such an amazing and unusual show. I was really digging this strong poetic aspect.
Now with season 2, they just dropped all that. No more dream and reality blending together because they had the "great" idea to clearly dissociate it with a cutscene of a character getting in or out of water (= in or out of a dream... ooooh so subtle !). They also got rid of the dreamy atmosphere and every jump from a scene to another is made in a way to "wake up" the audience. Dialogues systematically happen in a vivid, loud or turbulent situation : Burton and Taka boxing for instance, Taka placed in an uninspired Jerry Bruckheimer-ish cop duo with cheesy dialogues, Burton's relationship with the lady in red now being no more than a con trick with all the chasing and on-and-off thing that comes with it, Burton stealing the hard drive like a master thief, Taka's relationship with Sabine that was weirdly beautiful in season 1 is now a standard mushy love story, James who was a special, silent and strange boy is now very normal and cannot shut the f*** up... And if you paid enough attention you'll realize that the show isn't about dreams anymore, it used to have at least 50% reality scenes - 50% dream scenes, now dreams are juste a tiny part of each episode, they only are displayed to serve the action and because they are required by the plot that came with season 1. The topic of season 2 is way more focused on the thriller part with the Shadow Man. Sure he uses dreams to kill and all, but scenario-wise the dreams are only a mean to an end serving that thriller plot.
Don't get me wrong, I think that this new horror theme is a great addition to the show. It really emphasizes the "nightmare" part of dreaming (that we kind of slightly already had in season 1 with the faceless men, but here it is more obvious and scary). I'm glad they did it. But really what the hell happened ? Did they really had to change it all ? It feels like a totally different show ! And I'm sad to say that it even feels like a trite drama/investigation show like any other...
I can't be the only one who's very disappointed with all this, anyone else ?
Whoops, forgot the show's airing on Saturdays now. What did you guys think of tonight's episode?
