Hello friend! I've just finished a rewatch last night for the 1st time since seeing it when it initially aired. I was going through a tough time in my life when I initially watched it and I don't remember the majority of it. A lot of my memories from that time have completely vanished. Felt like this was my very 1st time watching it and I am actually so grateful for that, because just WOW!!!! I probably sat staring blankly into space for a good 2 hours last night after it ended. In fact I'm still not right today!!! I binged the 4 seasons in just over a week and I think I'm a changed person after it. I'm not even been hyperbolic here...genuinely changed the way I see things. I also think tv shows are now ruined for me, because I can't imagine watching anything now that will come close to the brilliance that sam email created. Prior to this, I only had a hanful of shows that were a full 10/10 for me. GoT, the handmade tale, 12 monkeys, the wire, MITHC, severance and Silo. I'm now thinking that I need to recalibrate my scoring system after this, because mr robot is in a league of its own!!! How did everyone else fill the void after the season ended? I need to watch some mindless comedies for a week or so as a pallete cleanse! But any suggestions of what to watch after but would be greatly appreciated. 💯💯💯
So take it or leave it, but I had a late night theory about Mr. Robot which I finished years ago and rewatched a second time all the way through maybe a year or a little more ago, and an epiphany hit me when I was having trouble falling asleep.
It needs a bit of context though so I thought I'd provide it so it (maybe) makes more sense in the end. So some have suggested that the famous movie "The Matrix" is an allegory for transness. I do not know of the veracity of these claims, nor have I watched the movie all the way through, but I know the broad outlines of it, and ultimately in that movie you have to make a choice and your choice determines your path (echoes of the choice White Rose gives Elliot at the nuclear reactor, perhaps, with the little story game to stay with the friend or leave?)
Anyways, what my thought was, and maybe it is not a unique thought and has been shared before in this sub, but I couldn't bother looking at years of posts, was that there is a connection between Elliot and White Rose that surpasses just the transactional do my dirty work and I will protect and defend you type deal they had going on for a while.
While Elliot is suffering because of the abuse he lived through, and you can call it mental illness if you'd like I suppose, but I prefer to call it a mental affliction or circumstantial affliction given what he went through, the same is true of White Rose. Again, I don't think transness should be classified as a mental illness either, but I do believe it is an affliction of sorts, because oftentimes--and maybe my knowledge of transness and trans issues is limiting my point here a bit but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong--the affliction that causes stress and suffering for trans people is the fact that their physical bodies do not match what they feel like and envision for themselves. Add on top of that the general lack of acceptance from society and you have a source for suffering, ostracization etc if you want to truly express how and what you feel.
So I suppose the parallel is, and please forgive me I am finishing this up at 5 am on no sleep, that Elliot and White Rose both suffer from afflictions which are not of their own doing, and because of that have some shared experience that must be overcome to truly attain their goals in life. Maybe "Minister Zhang" attains this when she says near the end of the last season "Minister Zhang is dead, there is only White Rose" and therefore two of the main characters, at times allies and in the end does of sorts, achieve their goals of coming to grips with their reality and overcoming the "throwness" of their circumstances/existence, to borrow a phrase from Heidegger.
No one knew what the hell I was supposed to be. Some people thought I was from V for vendetta
I watched the first season of this show when it first came out and loved it but stopped. I have only just picked it back up and rewatched season 1 again, absolutely loved it and am now on season 2.
I am so far finding the direction they have gone to be slow, boring, frustrating to watch and just straight up not that interesting. I am not saying its bad, I just saying that so far for my personal taste and opinion it hasn't been for me.
My question is should I keep on watching it or does it get better?
Again not criticising it as this very well just could be me but just wondering?
what series should I watch after Mr Robot? I feel empty without watching Mr Robot so I'm looking for an alternative. I mean something similar
I bought the 5-season pack on Apple TV last week. I nearly immediately became obsessed with watching Mr. Robot, sometimes until dawn the next morning! However, now I’m in season 4 and it’s becoming more and more difficult to remain interested, the obsession is gone. Help me regain my interest before I just quit watching it!
Hi All,
Does anyone know the song that plays before the final scene of the show. Not M85 outtro, the song before that.
It plays when MM is talking to Mr Robot after real Elliot takes over
Been searching for hours through different .srt files downloaded from places like opensubtitles.org and subsource.net to no avail, they all just go ” _ “ during foreign language scenes. I know the translations exist, because if I stream it anywhere online, the subtitles are just fine, translating what the white rose and her body guard are saying to English in the subs, as well al the Danish scenes.
I originally watched this show through streaming, but have been this time watching it from downloaded .mp4s (data hoarder style) and thus, I need to find these subtitles!! It’s so annoying to have to open a streaming service just to understand one little scene, throws off the whole pacing of the episode for me. Plus, this show just doesn’t work in my library if it can’t be completely understood, then anyone I want to watch it with in the future offline won’t understand what’s happening. I don’t understand why every single sub I can find online is missing the damn translations!!!
If anyone has a good subtitle file (.srt) with the English translations or knows of where I could get it myself, I’d be over the moon. Im begging some kind soul out there in the void, please help me outta this annoyance. This is my favourite show and it’s getting under me damn skin that I can’t find this file that I know exists!! somewhere!!! And I thought this would be the best place to ask for help… please
So many people have recommended this show to me. Where can I stream this?
The very first friend I met at uni introduced me to Mr Robot a little after we first met. She said it was her favorite show and said I might be interested because of my interest in and knowledge on computer stuff.
In true Mr Robot fashion, I torrented the whole show onto my home server(a repurposed old computer) and we snuck into campus lecture halls at night to watch the whole show during our first semester. now we both agree it's one of the best shows we've seen, from the writing to the cinematography to the pacing, it's all near perfect.
And for my birthday, and as a token of that bonding experience, I get to put the first stickers on this new laptop!
Why and at what point in Elliot's life was Mastermind created? Will we see the real Elliot or just Mastermind throughout the series? Mastermind and Mr Robot is dead? If Mr Robot appeared during Mastermind's inspection, can Mr Robot or Mastermind appear during the real Elliot's inspection?
I was watching it a few years ago but i cant find i single streaming service that streams it. The only way to watch it is pirate it or there is another way?
In the movie theater flashback, Elliot's father says "I told you I was sorry."
Elliot says "You're not sorry. You're just sick and you don't want to admit it."
He's talking about >!being a creepy little molester and not having cancer!<, right?
This is my third time watching the show through but somehow I missed that completely.
Some spoilers ahead that I'll mask.
I had heard Mr Robot is must-see television. While the acting is good and I like the premise, I'm finding S1 to be fairly cheesy and unrealstic on many fronts. For example, >!when Elliot breaks open all the jail cells and then he, his girlfriend's murderer, and the other two henchman stand around talking for a solid 5-10 minutes just outside the prison while alarms are sounding, prisoners are fleeing in every direction, and the one henchman was laying dead on the ground in plain sight.!< As another example, >!the dialog within the FSociety headquarters between all members discussing the plan to put a Raspberry Pi behind a themostat within Steel Mountain's facility. The dialog was extremely cheesy to me with a lot of lowest common denominator staples like "this mission is a death wish" or "even if we xyz, you'd still have to abc" and, my favorite perhaps being this "dark army" of seemingly Asian hackers.!<
I guess what I'm asking is: does the show get more "buttoned up" or believable/less cheesy as things progress or, if I'm finding S1 really cheesy, should I expect that same vibe, dialog, etc in future seasons?
Thanks!
