Elon Musk hired Connecticut's own, high school graduate Edward Coristine. His dad, Charles Coristine lives in New Cannan, with his wife Anna Martynova
Proof this kid is bringing down our government:

His dad's shitty company, stay away. https://lesserevil.com/
Edit: He went to Larchmont HS in NY where there is another residence.
Hi, anyone who has Eversource for their electric, did your bill go up a large amount for January? Mine did and some family members did. I did use a bit more energy in December but I literally stay in my room all winter so I don’t have to heat my downstairs. So it was $324 which is crazy since I’m heating literally one room. It has never been this high, even in previous winters when I would heat the downstairs. What is going on?!
Hi everyone. I’m currently in the Dental Hygiene program at the University of Bridgeport and looking for patients who are interested in a free dental cleaning. Since this is a learning environment for me, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Am I able to get an emissions test for my new car if my temporary registration has already expired?? I have insurance but no registration, and I have an appointment with the DMV on Friday to get the permanent registration. I have to get this emissions test to register the car though.
Who you got?
My wife and I have separate policies through the CT ACA/Obamacare marketplace, Access Health CT. Both of us had plans with Anthem Blue Cross that were due to auto-renew for 2025. Both of us, separately, have had our healthcare listed as "Pending Payment" for the entire month of January. We have made calls to AccessHeatlthCT, calls to Anthem, each side stalling, saying to call the other, and endlessly delaying with level 1 customer service agents railroaded to a script. My wife has gotten as far as making a payment on her plan but Access Health has still not submitted her paperwork. I have been in an expedited escalation queue with Access Health CT for over a week now, no call back. Tomorrow it's February. Are we cursed, or is the healthcare marketplace falling apart?
how was it?
These trees frozen in the CT river looked like a family of whales heading downriver. Enjoyed the beauty of the fog and ice on a dreary but warmer last day of January.
Hello folks, I am new here, researching some north of NYC communities for a potential move.
In my zillow deep dive I figured that Stamford seems like a nice enough place but the schools are ranked very poorly (3 on Great Schools). So, where do upwardly mobile and academically concerned parents of Stamford send their kids to school? Are there some popular private options around?
Sorry if this question is dumb, I don’t know much about this area.

I live in Wallingford CT and every time I order things it takes them to “Yalesville” CT instead of Wallingford center where my residence is located. I put my address correctly. Does anyone know why this keeps on happening?

So, they have a car that I really want. The price is less than I am seeing at other sellers and it is the color and options I want, with low mileage.
The online reviews I am seeing are abysmal, with a few really good ones peppered in. AG Tong sued them last year for something. They seem to sell A LOT of vehicles, so I assume they mustn't be terrible all of the time? 🤷🏻♂️
I can't decide if I should take a chance, or keep looking. There are not many of the particular car I want in the state. My second choice is two years older with 10k more miles on it at the same price.
Hi all,
Myself and 4 other people rent a house in New Haven. Our lease is up at the end of May, so our landlord has started doing showings, one almost every day for the past week. He gives proper notice (at least 24 hours, usually more), but he has said that, per our lease, we are required to leave the house during the showings. He has assured us that it won’t take more than 30 minutes, so it’s not a huge deal to not be home, but as I’m fairly certain that it’s not legal to make us leave, even if it’s in the lease, I’m pissed off just on principle. Telling us to not be home at 6pm on Saturday is ridiculous. Does anyone know the specifics of the laws on this? TIA!
How high do folks expect the ct income tax to rise once federal taxes are abolished? Will it be the straw that breaks the state’s back, sending wealth and tax revenue fleeing to low tax states? Will our representatives be forced to play ball in the arena of laissez faire economics to compete with other states for wealthy individuals? Will they be forced to make tough decisions of pandering the unions and pensions over the general well-being of the state’s population?
Genuinely interested in folks thoughts here. Just trying to envision what the implications of a more federalist system means for ct.
President Donald Trump’s executive orders to halt all diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and enact other workforce policies are reshaping institutions across the government and military, including programs — some of which have been in place for years — within the U.S. Coast Guard and its service academy in New London.
Over the past week, the Coast Guard started shuttering a number of DEI-related programs and offices and removing information about them from its websites. At the Coast Guard Academy, the Office of Culture and Climate has been disbanded, and staff are on paid administrative leave, according to a local union representing some of the workers.
Those actions are in compliance with Trump’s Day 1 executive order, taking aim at DEI policies the White House calls “illegal and immoral discrimination programs.” Initial guidance wanted agencies to submit written plans by Jan. 31 about reduction-in-force plans, while urging them to start immediately issuing RIF notices to DEI employees. A memo from last week provided more guidance on terminating such offices and staff.
“In accordance with that order, each agency, department, or commission head shall take action to terminate, to the maximum extent allowed by law, all DEI, DEIA, and ‘environmental justice’ offices and positions within sixty days,” according to a Friday memo from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

we are lucky to own, hoping to upgrade, but will need a hubbard clause contingency to do so. a realtor we've spoken with is insisting on bridge financing (which is very expensive!) and two lenders we've met with advise to just be patient and make offers with the contingency (perhaps with a different realtor). if it makes a difference, we're hoping to move to cheshire and our current home is very much a "starter" (~$300k). thank you!
I’m anxious about the next four years and angry that we’re back in this situation again. All I know is that I have to do something to fight back, look out for others, and try to minimize the damage.
So, I’m thinking about starting a progressive grassroots-organized think tank to be the voice of the people, counter groups like the Heritage Foundation and build a real alternative to Project 2025. We need a policy blueprint that protects human rights, strengthens democracy, provides economic security, and gets this country back on track.
I’d love to connect with like-minded people and talk about how we can work together to fight back and protect what matters. I’m also open to any feedback or advice anyone might have. Thanks!
