I ride alone usually on a catrike 700. I’m getting pretty tired of doing the 17 to Yulee and am looking to learn new routes and meet others interested in riding. I understand I could always look up routes in Jax but it’s not the same as a group ride.
I’m looking to do group rides. I never have before. I average 19.6mph over my usual 22 mile routes. Lakeshore bicycles and I believe champion hosts rides. Anyone know the distance and speed they go? Little worried I’ll fall behind.
All right folks, it's Florida, it's hot almost all year, and we all need to stay hydrated. Let's crowdsource our water hookups. That skate park or dog park with a water fountain? That church or ball field in the middle of nowhere that has a spigot? Let's talk about them.
Please keep top level comments to geographic areas, and child comments can list locations.
Example:
Top Level = Downtown
Child Level = Water fountain at X park
Howdy folks,
u/Sunburn79 here.
During my search for local cycling resources I came across r/BikeJax and was disappointed to find that it was "as dead as a Jax biker" according to one kind Redditor.
In a city as large and diverse as Jacksonville I found that to be unacceptable, so I recently took this subreddit over to see if we can create a sense of community and a hub for local cyclists to share events, ride routes, discuss access/advocacy/rights and etc. I see you friendly folks out on the roads and trails every day so I am hoping that this will be an "if you build it they will come situation" and we can get some good things going here.
I've added a subreddit description and some rules, and linked a few local Facebook groups and related subreddits in the sidebar.
If you have any input or advice for the subreddit, links for the sidebar, or anything else, please feel free to comment in this thread. If you don't feel comfortable doing that publicly you can send a modmail and I'll get back to you.
Did all of you actually wind up bumper bait, is that why no one posts on here anymore? :(
I also have a list of groups we could add to the sidebar to help new cyclists to the city.
