Post Rules and Guidelines
Questions about bike repair only. If you just want to post a picture, this isn't the place for it. Full rules.
"Is this cracked / safe to ride?" - If you have to ask, don't ride it. We probably can't tell from a picture just what condition your bike is in. Take it to your Local Bike Shop and ask them. If it's carbon, a specialist repair shop may be required. They should have the equipment and expertise to inspect it properly.

I degreased my chain and cassette. Think I may have messed up my bearings…or can anyone think of another cause for this grind noise?
I have found found many posts of people complaining about enduro bearings but it is seems like its always something like a wheel bearing that spins constantly.
When selecting a swing arm pivot is this still the case considering it probably spends most of its life in a small percent of its 360 degree range.
I ask because Im trying to find a good 6801 and Im not sure what to look for, lots of praise for SFK but I dont see where they mention their ability to keep water and dirt out which is important.
160->180. Part sm-ma-f180p/p2a.
Shimano’s guide only shows how to install in the front.
I bought a second (gravel) wheelset for my allroad bike. Assuming the brand and the hubs are the same, will the rotors line up correctly or will I have to adjust them every time?
Is the aero brake lever supposed to rotate? It always did this, but I found this disturbing when it accidentally moves out of finger reach. I'm wondering if it could be fixed somehow.
open ended q but what is your opinion on the best dropbar levers with cable disc brakes (klampers, growtacs, spyres, juin tech, bb7's etc)

Hi there !
So I have a dura ace di2 11 spd setup, 52-36 at the front and 11-30 at the back.
I would like to change the cassette to 11-34 for more climbing comfort.
Problem is I have seen on some forums that it's not possible because the dura ace rear derailleur can only accomodate up to 30 cog. What do you think are my options ? Maybe with a wolf Road link ?
Thank you !
i bought this bicycle and i want to paint it another color what colour do you all think suits it
My son got my old YT Capra with a GX drivetrain. It’s ~5 years old and many miles. Just replaced chain and ring and it was good for a bit. Now shifting is horrible. My old thumbs can barely push the up shift lever.
Replaced cable/ housing to no benefit.
Up shifts (to larger cog) ok, but lots of force. Downshift is super slow as if the rear derailleur won’t pull cable slack. Cable runs freely by hand a new cable and housing should.
Thanks.
Would like to just replace shifter, but I think it is time for both.
What do you think?
The frame is made of carbon steel, should I worry about the rust weakening the frame in the long run?
Are my pads to far out? Rubbing on rotar
Hello,
First off, don't worry. I'm about to clean the bike.
So I bought a second hand bike (Scott Scale 965 mountainbike) and the front thru axle was rather seized in the front hub. I managed to get it out with zip ties and mallet assisted persuasive skills.
However I was just wondering what the best way forward was to remove the corrosion on the inside of hub. Any special recommended products or should I just try to clean it out with isopropylalcohol and a metal wire brush/sandpaper?
Happy to hear you guys' thoughts!
Hello guys,
i've bought a new bike a few months back and it is not running as smooth as i want to. But i cant find the thing that causes that the drivetrain doesn't run smoothly. Does someone know why the chain of my bike is rubbing against the pully wheel where it is worn down like that after just 600km?
Can anyone suggest how can I fit the handlebar with the stem? I uses some kinda steel expander for the handlebar but its really a safety hazard
I’ve got a frame with a 68mm BB shell to fit a T47 BB. I’m using a Sram GXP crankset.
I’m moving my stuff from an old frame which fit the cranks just fine without any spacers. The width of the whole BB when installed on the old frame is about 93mm.
On the new frame with the BB installed, the width is around 90mm so when tightening everything down, there’s sideways movement in the cranks. (This is 90mm from outside cup to outside cup)
The BB came with some spacers which I’ve tried fitting by putting a spacer on each side, between the BB and the crank arm. This solves the issue with play but then tightening everything down means the cranks don’t spin freely, because the spacer is presumably pressing against the bearing.
Not sure if I’m just using the wrong sized spacers (in terms of diameter) or what. Maybe I need a spacer between the BB and the frame? But the BB didn’t come with any of that size.
Can anyone advise what the issue is? If I loosen the crank a bit then things spin more freely - and it’s reasonably tight - but it feels kind of janky.
Edit: It's a Standert Erdgeschoss frame, with a Standert BB. Cranks are Sram Apex. The BB came with zero instructions.

Can I simply hang a known weight from a known spoke to calibrate my spoke tension tool?
Got new (to me) forks. Steerer is a little too short. Is this dangerous to ride or okay for a short commute for a couple weeks before getting new forks?
I'm buying my first "adult" bike and I'm wondering if I need a shock pump. It just seems like extra junk laying around tbh.
I have a bike pump that is multi valve, but I never used it because the pressure range was too high for bicycle, car and motorcycle tires. I guess now I know why. Maybe it was for shocks. I also have an air compressor that goes to 10 bars. Could I use it?
What kind of valves do front and rear suspensions use?
Hi all, following my BB30 creaking diasaster Creaking when pedalling hard : r/bikewrench (reddit.com), I got my bearings replaced by LBS, but the crank axel is totally corroded. LBS slathered it with grease which will keep me going for a few weeks, but Im going to need a new crankset. (chainrings not needed).
What are my options for a BB30 crankset? Used is fine for me. the original one is "FSA Gossamer", but I cant find any of this one in 170mm or less online. Lots of sellers for the longer arms.
Are there any other brands that would be compatabile with the 105 groupset? I know that I could also use 24mm crankset with either a) Adapter shims or b) a full BB30/24mm BB with integrated bearings, but both of those options are tricky. a) maybe not so reliable and b) is probably out of my budget. Unless anyone has had good experience with a) the adapter shims?
I have a 2007 Trek 1500 SLR. Front is 53/39 and back is 12-26, Shimano 105 RD5501. There's a couple of hills in my area where I would like a smaller gear. Is it advisable to get a bigger cassette with my current derailleur? I've tried to google and it seems like people have fit 30 but it's tricky and I don't have much experience with bike repairs. TIA
After a gear has been shifted to, if I pull on the cable even slightly, it shifts back down to that gear. What part of the shifter lever could it be? Also some guidance on how to take it apart would be appreciated.
I am a bit stuck trying to find a replacement for the original rear wheel for my Charge Plug 1 2015 Singlespeed. The wheel has been repaired 4 times already and now the rim is falling apart. I assume a whole new wheel is the way to go here rather than a rim replacement. I want to avoid taking this to a bike shop, I tried, and they are all full at the moment, so the idea of installing a new wheel with a freehub and everything already on it is tempting. My Requirements:
I have already spent a couple of hours shopping around and have reached the conclusion that I don’t know what I’m looking for! This bike has served me well over the last 10 years, and I want to put another 10 on it!
Any suggestions are very welcome! EU brands with good availability in Germany would also be a plus!
Hi, anyone managed to mount CS-LG700 cassette on QR HG free hub? Shimano only lists three free hubs that would fit this 11 speed, but I’m looking for something better
Hello! I just got a NW chainring delivered and it has some prints on it that I don't like. Can I just flip it so the print is facing the bike or will this cause it to malfunction in some way?
