Love it! XC, Trail, Enduro rig! also, love the Hope Pro 5 hubs w/ lightbicycle carbon rims! 35mm internal width!
What's the best overall MTB camera setup? Reviews of GoPro and DJI kinda seem all over the place lately regarding heat issues, battery life, stabilization, memory card compatibility, etc. Other products have negative reviews regarding the same, plus build quality and such. I've never owned an "action camera" before and I really don't want to blows hundreds of dollars on a shit purchase. I use an iPhone, if there are app considerations.
It's been a while now since the lastest Rockshox SID D1(RC2) forks have been out but I haven't seen any discounts on them so far.
Does anyone know if it's worth waiting for a holiday sale to see if they might go on discount?
I am primarily looking at purchasing the Sid Select Plus D1 or the Sid Ultimate D1 but i can't justify forking out 1400CAD + tax!
9 speed BMX rides great so far
Anyone with any information available in regards to if there will be in existence a new generation of TREK Marlin 4, i.e. Gen 3? Also, what happened with the X-Caliber lineup, are they planning to introduce additional models in the following months or only Procaliber and above?
So I’m looking for a rear rack for my XL Trek 29er with boost hub. Bought a Topeak rack for 29/disk and it’s too narrow!
Any suggestions welcome, it’s to put a crate on the back for my dog(10kg)!

This is a follow-up to my past post: Tire Consideration -- Vittoria Rubino Pro IV Graphene 2.0 700c x 28c wide tires on 29er
I bought a pair appropriately matched tires from Specialized - Pathfinder Sport and I did indeed install one on my rear rim.
Since I had the Vittoria Rubino's floating around for over a year, I decided to take a chance at trying on of them on my front rim. I've rode my bike with this combo three times thus far, here are my observations.
At around 25-30 PSI they feel quite firm. Although rated for 10 psi, I would be reluctant to pump any higher than 45 psi (assuming my gauge is giving accurate readings). As expected, the firmness and the minimal volume have virtually no shock-absorbing properties, and I can definitely feel it on the bumps. When I'm hopping up a curb, I definitely make sure that I'm pulling-up on my handlebars and shifting my weight accordingly.
I like the reduced rolling resistance, but I will not be installing my other Rubino on to my aft rim. My bike is essentially "back heavy", especially when I'm carrying things in my panniers which are attached to my cargo rack. Larger volume of the thicker and wider tires at the current tire pressure seems to work just about right. I'd love to run at higher pressure, but I find that tubes tend to get leaky when I get greedy about tire pressure.
Bottom line: I the Rubino is a pleasure to ride but I am concerned about damaging my rim if I accidentally ram into a pothole. The thicker tires are definitely more forgiving in that regard. Other than that, I don't know how these Rubino skinny tires would handle in the rain, but if I ride with this front tire for the the entire summer, I will most cetainly be installing the other Pathfinder Sport tire by the time winter rolls around.
The Pathfinder Sport has a smooth strip in the middle and tones of treads along either side of that thick flat strip. I have the utmost confidence that the Pathfinder Sport will perform as well if not better than past slick tires that I've used. I think they strike an excellent balance, and I'll look forward to seeing how they perform under inclement conditions.

Fun city bike
I got a pretty hefty Specialized Rockhopper with a rear-cargo rack and panniers which make it a bit back-heavy. All-in-all it has served me well. I've long-since swapped out the suspension fork for a steel fixed-fork.
[The title is basically the tl;dr, but to be clear... **tl;dr: Is it a bad idea to use the narrower 700c tires on my ]
Some time ago I was getting tires for an older bike and bought a set of 700c tires at around 1.1" wide. They didn't fit the other bike but it appears that they do fit my 29er. They area bout as wide if not slightly wider than the rims. So it appears I can use them (with tubes), but due to the weight I am concerned that the smaller tires will build-up way too much tire pressure.
In my experience, I can't get away with using the max PSI that is printed on the tires because the tubes inevitably give up. So while I think I can easily get these narrower tires to a high pressure, I am not sure if it will work out. Maybe it will since the tubes would be confined to a tight space?
Right now I'm using appropriately matched WTB slick on the front and a nice rear tire that I got from the Specialized website (can't remember the name this instant). I try to proactively change my tires so that I can keep the old ones as emergency spares. So now I'm ready to swap out the front tire and am thinking about giving the tires from hte title a chance.
I figure putting the narrow tire up front makes sense since the bike is more back-heavy. I consider traction to be more important in the front, and I'm aware that narrower tires means less surface area in contact with the ground. **Still, willing to try it... unless.... anyone has any reason strongly against doing so.**
Please, share input or thoughts. All positions are welcome.
Hi everyone, I'm planning to buy a bike and can't decide which one to buy:
OR
Every opinion is very much appreciated. 😉
my local LBS (canada) have a front ROVAL TRAVERSE SL II 240 at a discounted price of 600CAD + taxes.
Is it a good deal ?
I am looking to build a custom XC/Trail wheelset with different internal widths.
For the rear i currently have a carbon rim with 26mm internal.
How wide can i go on the front wheel without messing up the ride quality .
Thank you!
This is the bike I picked up, I don't know much about bike parts, or what parts on this bike truly suck. But I was hoping someone here would have some ideas.
I am contemplating buying a brand new XRC1200 30mm front wheel for 500 CAD. (no warranty i believe)
It a leftover from an XC race team.
Is it a good deal ? Should i go for it?
Decided i wanted to change things up a bit. Switching to this from an old fixed gear i had for the last 14ish years. Mostly city riding, this thing cruises! 2022 Stolen Max 29 44lb pup for scale.
Hello all I’m new here. This is my rockhopper 29. I would like to upgrade it slowly. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you!
Hello. What sort of measurable speed difference can I expect for a 29er versus a 27.5er for each revolution of the crankset? All other things being equal such as rear wheel cassette, number of teeth on the biggest front chainring etc.
Apologies if this question is badly worded.
Apologies if this breaks the rules, but looking at this bike for sale in a estate sale.
We are negotiating price, what would be fair value? Bike i stock and in good condition.
Thanks for your help.
I just bought a Salsa Rangefinder (L frame, 470mm reach, 29er) and it's my first 29er, coming from an old, old Trek with 26s.
I'm 5'10.5" (between M and L) and I used to BMX when I was younger. I always had a MTB but never got into it seriously and wanted to start. I felt ok on this bike during the test ride, but rode it home yesterday and it kinda felt like a monster truck. I went to try and bunny hop and the seat hit me (no dropper yet), the front end is tough to unweight and lift, and when I'm standing the post is fairly close to my crouch.
I dropped the seat to see how it'd feel with a dropper and could bunny hop more easily, but not as much height as I'm used to. And it took a good amount of effort. It also still felt hard to lift.
Turning didn't feel too bad. Definitely not as nimble as the smaller bikes but I'm sure I could get used to that part.
I'm just wondering if I should take the time to get more used to it on real trails, or if I might get unhappy with it and should exchange it for something more playful (a 27.5 or a smaller frame). I know it's all preference, but it's so hard to say without really using it.
EDIT: I did try a Trek Roscoe M/L that day and it definitely felt more playful. I also felt a bit more over the bars due to the reach. Medium Salsas also felt like that. I don't think he put me on any 650Bs.
Hey I'm new into biking and I'm asking you guys for some tips. I have Marin bobcat trail 3 as my main MTB bike but grip isn't enough when it comes to tires. That's why I was wondering how fat of I tire can I fit onto bobcat stock rims. Currently I have 2.25inch tires but it's just not enough grip.
