Now living in the Bay Area. Has anyone from Lompoc ever moved out for several years and then moved back to Lompoc for good after living in a bigger city? What I find relaxing about Lompoc is no traffic, no noise, no long lines at stores, less crime, etc lol I didn’t appreciate this while living there back in the day. Also very quiet!!! It just lacks career opportunities. If you ended moving back, why ? Sometimes when I visit it just gets too lonely lol
Fancy dinner no price limit just need a good spot to eat that seems fancy cause I might propose.
Hey y'all. The subreddit for Santa Barbara has people talking about the shakes coming from the space x launches. My question: Are y'all used to the launches? I never see people talking about the launches here.
Hi there, I'm shopping around for deals now that Verizon bumped me up to $70/month. Spectrum has a decent deal going on, and it looks like they theoretically serve the Lompoc area. Does anyone on here have experience with Spectrum wireless here or hereabouts?
Thank you!
I’m grateful for any recommendations, and why you are making suggestion please. TIA
Wife and I are thinking about going to San Diego for the holidays and wanted to try the Surfliner. The easiest thing would be to park at Surf Beach and hop on the train there.
Is overnight/multi-day parking allowed at that lot? Would we have to worry about our car getting broken into? Has anyone done this already?
Is there anywhere I can go to see the actual launchpad of spacex launch tonight? If not where is the closest I can get? Thanks!
Hey guys. I hope y'all are doing well in our little cali town. In case you didn't know I've been the mod here for the past year or so. I loved Lompoc when I lived there and was tired of seeing this reddit used for little more than not so great spam and stuff. So I did what I could to keep it clean and I think the subreddit has really become a friendly place.
Unfortunately I will need to delete my reddit account. And I hope this subreddit continues the way it has been.
Obviously no one here knows who I am or really cares at the end of the day. But to me this is a way of saying goodbye to the last thing I have from a town that I love so and became a home.
Always be helpful and kind folks <3
Relocating to Vandenberg next month and i'm importing a modified car from Japan. Can anyone dm me a shop that might pass my car?
AFTER TAXES my salary before taxes is 175k + my disability checks (45k a year untaxed)
Got a job offer where they want me to start immediately and I am wondering the cost of living and if it’s worth it. Coming from San Antonio, TX.
Did some research it seems like it is enough but just wanted to ask some locals what they thought is all. Thanks guys. Looks lovely here.
Does anyone know of a good place to get haircuts? I just want to get layers, nothing fancy, preferably on the cheaper end.
I am a male in my 20s. I am thinking about taking a job in Santa Barbara in June or July 2025 and commuting from Lompoc since the cost of living in Lompoc is more affordable. Ideally, I'd prefer to live in a one-bedroom apartment in Lompoc. What are some of your recommendations for places to live? Also, I've heard crime is a problem in Lompoc. Is it safe to park my car on the street, or should I rent some place with a garage?
Felt my house shake for like a second
I'm a disabled senior who needs an occasional day laborer. In many other places, like Santa Barbara, there are places where day laborers congregate in the morning and can be picked up for the day for a fair wage. Is there anyplace in Lompoc where day laborers congregate?
My name is Chay Comas, and I catalog local tabletop gaming clubs for D&D, Miniature Wargaming, and Trading Card Games across the Central Coast of California in this free forever newsletter.
If you're looking for a tabletop club, or how to create one from the ground up, this issue is for you. This issue covers some big news about a couple of local game designers, how to find or organize a tabletop club, features local artists, a local gamer keeping a 200+ year gaming tradition alive, a guide for organizing game clubs, and a special dedication to my father at the end.
...Marshall Neal has been supporting local game conventions by running Kriegsspiel, a very historical wargame dating back to the 1800s as an officer training tool for the Prussian Army. Kriegsspiel is often referred to as the Great Grandfather of Dungeons & Dragons, as it led to more recent, and familiar, historical wargames like Napoleonic Wargames. The Napoleonic Wargames and other wargames of the 1960s and 1970s brought together the co-creators of Chainmail (Gary Gygax and Jeff Perren), which then inspired Dungeons & Dragons (Dave Arneson and Gary Gygax). Marshall has single-handedly kept the flame of Kriegsspiel alight on the Central Coast, as few still play locally. Though his international community on Discord thrives and often plays virtually, I wonder when the last in-person game will be played here on the coast...

Are there any events or places to meet people? I'm not too familiar with the night life and I haven't found much places to meet people. I was wondering if they'res any social gatherings or event's to meet someone.
Taking a road trip this weekend 9/1/2024, up to San Luis Obispo and I’d love to take a detour into to Lompoc to see the flower fields. Are they still in season? Googles says plus or minus some days, April-September. Thank you!!!
What the title says. Lol I'm thinking of getting back into playing it just for fun (and it's one of the only workouts I actually enjoy).
Edit: I was originally from Santa Maria and they had some there so I was just wondering if there is something similar here.
Hello lompoc community, I have been admitted to nearby university and was looking for apartments that are affordable around lompoc area. I did check with few of them, but got denied since they don't rent to full time students (that's what they said). Please help me find apartments at affordable rate. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
