Why does my secondary look like this?

Brand new 2024 RMK 850. Still breaking it in. Maybe 85 miles.

Was loosening the belt and noticed it looked funny? Is this normal?

Rabbit Ears

My group and I are hitting rabbit ears feb 6-8, looking at rmsc I see they are supposed to get hammered between now and then. I also see it's supposed to be above freezing up top over mon and tue which concerns me, worth going there still or do we go elsewhere?

Mackinac Island Public School parking lot

Snapped this morning as we arrived to work. Too early for the students to arrive, but theirs are parked at the top of the hill.

Tunnel cracked - engine overheat - weld?

As per title I got rear ended by my wife (lol) her skis went up into my tunnel and pierced it, lost coolant and engine started overheating

Can I just weld it or do I have to replace it or other stuff

Hard to see from parts catalog

Snowmobile Tracking App?

Hey!

Don't know if this is a silly question. I'm heading to Muskoka this weekend to sled. Is there any snowmobile tracker app that will map out my ride for tomorrow? Just curious to see my route, haha!

Thanks 😊

Polaris XC 500 SP doesnt want to run.

My first snowmobile ever, ive cleaned carbs, and got it running, but it ran poorly (low rpm backfire). Also there was like homemade limiter for gas (taped rock on the lever, so it wont go wot, super weird). Problem is it starts fine, but tends to pop and backfire on lower rpm. It pulls okayish to 3/4 throttle, BUT when i wot, it sort of chokes for half second, then tries to go, but it just wont, it like stays st 6k rpm, and wont start to pull even tho its wot, ive tried to apply choke when wotting, and it just tries to go again, but comes back to same rpm. What could be the issue? Should i try to adjust tps (i have tool for it), and throttle cable? Thanks for help in advance, i dont know what to do next.

Is it normal to gas up your sled while it's on the trailer still?

I need to put gas in my sled but where I'm going this weekend doesn't have any gas stations so I just want to make sure I won't look insane putting gas in my sled at the gas station while it's still on the trailer

Gear recommendations

So I just started riding for the first time and I absolutely love it, only issue I don’t have any gear of my own(except for my hunting clothes) so I’m looking for some to buy, I just want to hear y’all’s opinions on brands and their gear chains/collections, I want something that’s decent but cheap, I mean I know you pay for quality but I don’t want to spend thousands for a gear set(bibs, jacket, gloves, boots and helmet)

1993 cougar questions

Hello guys i have 2 questions about my cougar:

  1. What does the ACC switch do? I can either put it on high or low.
  2. There's a small tank, next to the oil tank and it doesn't have any inscriptions on what it is so can someone guide me?

Cutting 2" lugs down?

Last month I got a pretty good deal on a 2010 Switchback with a 136" track with 2" lugs. I'm in NY so that's a lot of track for what we have.

I spent a lot more time than I expected getting the suspension set up, and I still need to tweak it a bit more because now I think I have too much ski pressure.

Set up the way I got it I couldn't corner at all, it was pushing through everything. The previous owner used it for hill sprints, so of course they had it set up for traction and going straight.

I put new shaper carbides on, messed with the rear suspension a bit, and set the front shocks back to about factory and can actually corner now, but it still wants to push if I get off camber, and if I try to power through it I get inside ski lift.

Part of it is that I need to learn how to ride it, honestly I'm not a huge fan of the higher center of gravity compared to the wedge chassis sleds, but that's another issue.

Do you think cutting the lugs down to 1.25" would help tame it a bit?

Anyone rode in Vilas County?

Hey all, as the title states I’m just looking to see if anyone has been riding in Vilas county yet this season. My family and I have a trip planned Presidents’ Day weekend, which is still a ways out, but the forecast doesn’t appear to be calling for much snow the next week or so. I’m probably just being cynical, but it seems like the businesses and clubs are putting on Facebook that the trails are better than expected, but some locals are saying they shouldn’t be open. Just looking for some input before we make our 8hr drive up. Thanks

What do you think of the 2015 Polaris lxt 550 2 up for 1st sled?

Hi,

Haven't been snowmobiling in forever but I have been thinking about getting one. Saw a 2015 Polaris lxt 550 2 up for my first sled. Has electric start and reverse but it's a 2 stroke.

Please share your wisdom with me!

Speedometer Bearings Are Important

I learned this over the weekend. Felt a violent pop, and saw my chaincase was leaking. Thought the chain broke or something, it is what it is.

Turns out my speedo bearing is what turned into a hand grenade. It Took out my drive shaft, chain case and gears, and fractured my skid. Going to be around $1,000 in repairs if I'm lucky. Luckily the engine was not harmed and all other components are peachy so that's something right?

Enjoy the pictures the shop sent me 😌 FML

This is my fault for just assuming the cable was broken and not looking into it any further

How is 146in track?

I mostly trail ride I currently have a 2014 polaris switchback pro r 800 136 in, looking at either a 2018 skidoo renegade x 850 with 2000miles 137in, my other option is a 2019 skidoo backcountry xrs 850 1500 miles146in. I have never been on a 146in does it still handle cornering well or does it try and push you straight? Is the 2019 worth 2k more?
