r/Nails: A place to show off your beautiful nails
Welcome to /r/nails! For anything and everything to do with nails and nail care!
Nail Care Series (In Progress):
There is a zero-tolerance policy on anything that can be perceived as bullying, harassment, ridiculing, trolling, or any actions that target an individual in a negative way. This is a place of appreciation for others artwork, so please keep that in mind at all times.
Keep images, comments and links work/age appropriate. Anything explicit, graphic, or sexual will be removed. Any photos that depict dangerous, risky or illicit activity is also against the rules (for example: drug use, self harm, using a cellphone while driving, etc).
Flairs serve as a way to let users know what your post is about. We do not remove posts that aren’t flared, but the flairs are what our search function relies upon, so we ask that you please assign them to your posts.
If the picture or content you are posting is NOT your own, you are required to credit the artist or acknowledge that it’s not yours, either within the post’s title or in a comment. You will receive a warning before being banned, if we suspect you are stealing others art. PLEASE REPORT MISCONDUCT.
All posts must be related to nails (the kind that grow on your hands and feet)! Comments should contribute to the conversation and not derail the discussion.
Self-promotional content (this includes but is not limited to Youtube “trend” & “tutorial” videos, surveys, well as blog posts) are not permitted to be posted without mod approval. If you do not follow Reddit's rules for self promotion and spam, your post will be removed and you will likely be banned. Your account history will be taken into consideration when concluding if you are a spammer or not. Moderators will use their own discretion to decide. Keep the following quote in mind: ”It’s ok to be a Reddit account with a website, but it’s not ok to be a website with a Reddit account”
Report anything that you feel violates the integrity of the subreddit.
This includes name, address, phone number, gender, age, location or links to websites that provide that information like Facebook. Applies to sharing the private information of people aside from yourself as well. Small watermarks are OKAY, however we ask that you do NOT include them in your post titles. In an effort to limit self-promotional content, we are asking users to avoid sharing Instagram/social media handles as post titles. Instead, our users now have the option to customize their User Flair. On r/Nails, you can select and edit your own flair. To do so, log in using the desktop version of Reddit.com, look for where it says “Edit Flair” in the sidebar to the right. This button should be located just under our subscriber count. Click on it for a list of images for you to select from. In order to create your own flair, choose “[CUSTOM]”, and then enter something into the text box (Example — “IG: @nails”). Click 'Save' to finish.
This includes but is not limited to racism, sexism and/or homophobia. And because this apparently still isn't clear enough, insulting and personally attacking other users or making unwanted sexual comments is grounds for an immediate ban.

My acrylics are off however I still have small pieces on same nails left (as bitten off…). I have searched but there are many methods and I just wanted to know what anyone has done to remove these small pieces.
TIA!
hiii! what would you guys recommend to someone wanting to let their nails get longer and healthier? i’ve thought about gel x since it seems a little better than acrylic, but im not sure.
Hello all!
First, the red under the small crack and on the sides of my nail is my previous red polish I just took off, it’s not 🩸 lol.
After taking my polish off I noticed this small crack (?) in my nail? I’ve never seen something like it on my nails before. It doesn’t hurt at all and after I used my husband’s jewelers loop (small magnifying glass) it doesn’t appear to penetrate the nail beyond the first layer. Should I do anything for this, like file or buff it? Can I continue my nail care and paint over it? Do I need to wait until my nails grow out to paint again? 😞
I’m pretty new to doing my nails so any advice is greatly appreciated!
My valentines set! All free handed
I got my nails done last night..less than 24 hours ago. I just got out of the shower and noticed the polish on 2 of them is already chipped. I've never had this happen before. Does anyone know what causes this kinda thing?
So I recently (somewhat impulsively) invested in materials to do Gel-X nails- the necessary lamp, the clear full coverage nails, gel polishes, dehydrator/primer/UV gel glue, basically the works. I did one set using the Gel-X method, and it actually did come out very nice, and has lasted a good amount of time! But, after reading about the possibility of developing allergies from over exposure, I decided to play it safe and repurpose my materials for making Gel Press-ons that I will then glue on using normal non-gel nail glue.
I’ve never done press-ons before this- how do you all find press-ons when compared to Gel X? And for those who do their own gel press-ons, any tips or tricks?
Thanks!! ☺️
Anyone know how to get rid of this? This suddenly occur like a month ago
I don't do my nails frequently, but I'm starting up again because it keeps me from chewing them. When I do, I do shellac at home, but I want to change colors more frequently. It has been 12+ years since I used regular polish. I used to use Seche Vite topcoat (before they had the fast drying) because it was nice and shiny. Looking for a ridge filling basecoat, a quick drying topcoat that can make my nails rigid like gel polish, and whatever other fun stuff you want to recommend.
Hi everyone!
So basically during COVID, I started doing gel nails by myself and developed a gel allergy (I know I know dumb mistake.) I also have an allergy to nail glue.
I’ve been doing my nails lately with just the gel polish and curing it and I don’t have any issues with that except I find my nails are becoming very brittle and the polish is starting to chip after 1-2 days of wear.
So basically my question is, does anyone have any alternatives? Regular polish chips on my fingers super fast and I clearly can’t do press ons because of the glue. But I just love having my nails done 🥲.
Idk I feel like they don’t flatter my skin tone and make my veins more visible but I also have never done this color.
Just shading my nails that I’m obsessed with. I always get neutral/natural colors but the subtle pops of rose gold sparkle I get throughout the day makes me so happy.
I think they’re cute for a home job !
Which nail shape suits my fingers better?
What method do you prefer for nail removal? I do my own gelx extensions since I'm growing out my natural nails and was wondering what you guys prefer for maintaining nail strength
First time getting gel x and these were $70 excluding tip. The artist was supposed to add French tip but she forgot 🫠. One popped off 3 days after I got them done while showering. Love the color although it seems too simple to cost that much.
