r/Nails: A place to show off your beautiful nails
Welcome to /r/nails! For anything and everything to do with nails and nail care!
Nail Care Series (In Progress):
There is a zero-tolerance policy on anything that can be perceived as bullying, harassment, ridiculing, trolling, or any actions that target an individual in a negative way. This is a place of appreciation for others artwork, so please keep that in mind at all times.
Keep images, comments and links work/age appropriate. Anything explicit, graphic, or sexual will be removed. Any photos that depict dangerous, risky or illicit activity is also against the rules (for example: drug use, self harm, using a cellphone while driving, etc).
Flairs serve as a way to let users know what your post is about. We do not remove posts that aren’t flared, but the flairs are what our search function relies upon, so we ask that you please assign them to your posts.
If the picture or content you are posting is NOT your own, you are required to credit the artist or acknowledge that it’s not yours, either within the post’s title or in a comment. You will receive a warning before being banned, if we suspect you are stealing others art. PLEASE REPORT MISCONDUCT.
All posts must be related to nails (the kind that grow on your hands and feet)! Comments should contribute to the conversation and not derail the discussion.
Self-promotional content (this includes but is not limited to Youtube “trend” & “tutorial” videos, surveys, well as blog posts) are not permitted to be posted without mod approval. If you do not follow Reddit's rules for self promotion and spam, your post will be removed and you will likely be banned. Your account history will be taken into consideration when concluding if you are a spammer or not. Moderators will use their own discretion to decide. Keep the following quote in mind: ”It’s ok to be a Reddit account with a website, but it’s not ok to be a website with a Reddit account”
Report anything that you feel violates the integrity of the subreddit.
This includes name, address, phone number, gender, age, location or links to websites that provide that information like Facebook. Applies to sharing the private information of people aside from yourself as well. Small watermarks are OKAY, however we ask that you do NOT include them in your post titles. In an effort to limit self-promotional content, we are asking users to avoid sharing Instagram/social media handles as post titles. Instead, our users now have the option to customize their User Flair. On r/Nails, you can select and edit your own flair. To do so, log in using the desktop version of Reddit.com, look for where it says “Edit Flair” in the sidebar to the right. This button should be located just under our subscriber count. Click on it for a list of images for you to select from. In order to create your own flair, choose “[CUSTOM]”, and then enter something into the text box (Example — “IG: @nails”). Click 'Save' to finish.
This includes but is not limited to racism, sexism and/or homophobia. And because this apparently still isn't clear enough, insulting and personally attacking other users or making unwanted sexual comments is grounds for an immediate ban.

this may be a silly question but i’ve only been getting acrylic nails for a couple months! i get them quite short but my natural nails are now almost the same length as the acrylics, can i get a fill or do i have to remove them and get a new set?
I’ve always had brittle nails that wouldn’t grow past my fingertips but lately I’ve been using a rubber gel coat under the polish to keep them from breaking! In this picture, I’m wearing multiple coats of Manicurist’s Active Glow (with no rubber gel base) because I wanted to see my growth. However, I’ve noticed that when I take showers, my nails tend to widen and become slightly flared. I’m thinking of shaping my nails differently because of the uncomfortable feeling of my nails moving brings; what shape do you like would be flattering as well as stay strong? Or should I stick with how they are now and maybe look for some new nail products? (Ignore the scratches on my knuckles, I shut my hand in a window lol)
I’m going to a wedding and uneven nails kill me but I really don’t want to cut all the rest ): if not, I understand
I have been doing my own nails for a while and I am STRUGGLING to get my nails to stay on long term. I have both poly gel and Gel X and I honestly can’t get either to work with me. I make sure my nails are clean. I file them a little bit. I apply a dehydrator. I actually don’t know what i’m doing wrong. I’ve been doing Gel X more recently and I use the sensitive skin gel x base coat sold by apres. I’m not really doing anything strenuous with my hands but they just.. pop off.. If anyone has any ideas or tips I would really appreciate it.
What is your favourite Shop to buy gel polish and other supplies?
Hey! I'm coming here looking for advice because in the past year or so, whenever I get my nails done it makes them so weak and brittle after. It's especially when I get gel manicures, but it's also happened when I use regular polish, just not as bad. I see women all the time with perfect almond-shaped colored nails and I don't know if it's their actual nails or fake but I would love having those types of nails, it looks so nice, I just really don't want to damage my nails any further because it takes a while for them to be healthy again. Any advice is appreciated!
I went to a nail salon and the guy was just AWFUL - gave me super clunky thick nails with an uneven french. I took them off trying to minimize as much damage as possible, and two-ish weeks later I noticed that the tech went SUPER heavy handed on buffing my nails - there is a visible bump between my new, healthy nail and the nail he buffed. Now, I talked to the owner and he said he'd give me full credit and reschedule me with a different tech for free. I have it scheduled for Friday, but I'm wondering if it's even safe to do gel extensions while the bottom 2/3 of my nail still seems so weak? Should I tell the new tech to try not to buff me, or do I need to completely reschedule until after my nails have regrown completely? I kind of want to get them done earlier... maybe acrylic would work? Any advice on what to tell the new tech?
Hello everyone I’m looking into doing airbrush, but just curious what are some good brands to work with. I looked on Amazon but they don’t have a lot of options
I take a women's multi vitamin - do I need a supplement?
Hi everyone!! I see a lot of posts about shoddy work and comments containing things like “find a new nail tech.” I’m wondering what the margin of error is for new nail techs. If you go to a place and they don’t tell you the tech is new, are we expecting at least an 8/10? But what if they do tell they’re new and the prices reflect that? What’s the expectation?
Curious to know your thoughts!
Ps: I’m not talking about really REALLY bad work like gel polish cured on skin and dangerous stuff. More like nails that aren’t shaped perfectly the same or detail work not being perfect…hopefully this makes sense.
