I've accidentally threw my highlighter while removing it from the box, and thankfully the actual product is intact but the lid has come off, the hinge which holds the product and the lid is broken off, so how do I fix it, this highlighters packaging is soo pretty I'd be sad if I can't fix it, I've searched everywhere but everything's about fixing the actual powder but not the packaging, if I could post a pic I would pls help
Every time I do my makeup my skin looks terrible. My routine is eyebrows, concealer, bronzer, blush, and then mascara. I only put concealer under my eyes and on my chin but my pores on my cheeks look so obvious. Also makeup doesn’t stay on my chin AT ALL after an hour or two so it’s always red(it is naturally for some reason) I do have combination skin but more on the oily side. I have used the benefit porefessional and the elf power grip. I know if you mix silicone with water it’s bad but I have used products with the same ingredients and still get this result. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I bought a new makeup organizer and when time came to organize everything I felt sick to my stomach, I don’t have the biggest collection but I don’t need over 20 lip products and 30 lip liners, eyeshadow palettes I have barely used since I bought them and plenty of face and eye brushes whereas I thought I needed more, initially had the smallest makeup collection and when it was time to declutter and get new products I went overboard, on top of that I’m a perfectionist, sometimes to my detriment, for example when I dropped my lip pencil and the cap broke, I bought a new one instead of replacing the cap… I’ve spent thousands and yet I thought I needed more…I’m sick even looking at how much stuff I have, how do I get the motivation to stop needed new things? I am inconsistent with social media so I delete and install again. When something bothers me I feel the need to shop, I like the feeling of new things but they quickly get forgotten when I get them.
I get suckered in by sales and pretty packaging as much as the next person, even though I know I shouldn't. This week I'm reducing my stash and have realized some makeup truths, such as:
What are yours?
I’ve been wanting cute subtle makeup, but I’m not going to buy trendy makeup up, just because. I just put on one of my brightest lipsticks just to test out the color, wiped it off and it left the most beautiful lip stain. Im very insecure about my lip color and I’m happy to have discovered this!

It’s hard to believe that it has been about 7 and a half months since my last update. I ended up making 3 purchases since my last update. 2 are RONB and one was a planned purchase I treated myself to.
There were 2 mini eyeshadow palettes on clearance in May. I told myself over a year ago that if they ever reached X price, I would let myself buy them. I don’t regret the purchase - I use these mini palettes a lot, especially for travel. And I’m already seeing dips in the pans.
I did a declutter 2 months ago - got rid of all my expired products and any products I haven’t used. Eyeshadow is my weakness and it was difficult to let any of it go, but I got rid of the most eyeshadow palettes I’ve ever did in my life (at one time). All of my eyeshadow now fits tidy in half of a drawer instead of a drawer and a half. I’m seeing little dents and pits start to form in the pans of the palettes I use the most often.
It is so nice to have a smaller collection and actually see progress in the makeup I own. I can rotate my makeup every day and be able to use every item in my collection within a week or 2. In the past, it would take so long to get to a product because of the size of my collection.
I’m starting to notice some powder products start to not perform as well. This is a bit unfortunate because I really like them, but at the same time it’s a great reminder that eventually everything expires and I really don’t need products in excess. I can happily use items up until they are empty and expired, and there will always be some product I want to try and will satisfy what I want to bring into my collection.
The cost of makeup nowadays give me a price shock whenever I made a purchase, especially drugstore makeup. It really is a demotivates me since one of my goals this year was to spend less on makeup. I’ve also been less than impressed about some higher end products I brought into my collection. The products have rave reviews and seem innovative, but the performance felt very mid to me.
I’m hoping to keep the RONB/low buy up and hopefully be able to share some pans or empties in the future.
I was gifted a beautiful set of makeup brushes and I honestly have no clue what to do with them. I don't want them to go to waste just hanging out on my counter. Any tips on simple videos for bottom level beginners who don't have tons of makeup? I use powder foundation and powder blush most of the time, but do have some liquid foundation.
Happy Halloween everyone! 🎃 Sorry for being late by a day, it’s time for reflection and rolling in a new Lippie this week😆
Some guiding questions for the posts:
I loved my Em Cosmetics Soft Spoken Lip Creme in Tender! In my head I keep thinking of it as a super bright colour but in reality it is a muted terracotta rose that fits my complexion so well when it sets. But it is a much more pigmented colour compared to the Flower Knows Cafe Mocha so I find myself reapplying it less as I would need a mirror to ensure it looks good, as I tend to smudged the lip lines with my finger. Still a gorgeous colour to rock with a minimal face and I do want to give it more love, probably later in the project rolling it in again.
This week is spooky season and I am having my first vampy dark colour, Milani matte lip in Sensual. This is a fantasy cool goth girl colour for me in this richly pigmented deep chocolate brown. It had never been worn out of the house before. In a previous post I had mistakenly mention it was in the shade Desire, it was obvious I truly had no idea of what i owned. I’m really looking g forward to stepping out of my comfort zone this time round!
Looking forward to seeing what your new entries are! Feel free to join in LAW anytime and take a break if you think you need.
Hello! I bought 3 shades of the nyx butter gloss, more specifically crème brulée, madeline and bit of honey, but i noticed that madeline and crème brulée kinda separate in a way/settle in the lines of the lips and they feel a bit rough on the lips due to this thing, i used madeline in a combo with nyx line loud in shade no equivalent and wet n wild cloud pout in shade fluffernutter and noticed this, but i also have applied the gloss alone and it still feels rough, but it doesn't sepparate as much because i also mixed it a bit, but crème brulée still does without being on top of anything, is there a way to fix this? My other nyx butter glosses(bit of hiney, cinnamon roll and praline)don't do this. Also I am sorry if I've used the wrong flair
Just putting my experience out there. I have had a very bad track record of low buys and no buys in the past, I always end up binging after a period of purging, but this year I’ve done the best I’ve ever done by “gamifying” my low buy with a points system. I’ve identified that some of the categories I’m worst about are not what I expected. I’ve done fantastic with makeup, I’ve used up much more than I’ve bought, and most of the items I’ve purchased have had a real purpose for me. As the year has continued my spending for makeup has been less and less and I currently have a bank of makeup points that I have no plans to use for any makeup items! So that’s a win.
But bodycare….. bodycare bodycare bodycare. I did not realize this was as much of a trigger for me as it is, and part of it may be that it’s such an expansive category. Bodycare for me covers body wash, soap, lotion, perfume, bath salts, bubble bath, body scrubs, pretty much everything that I would put on my body. It’s been a rollercoaster throughout the year, and after a lot of pregnancy, health, and financial related stress that has spanned months, I caved into one of my biggest weaknesses - Halloween. I placed a huge order with Twisted Allure and an indie gothic themed Etsy shop for enough body washes and soaps to last me almost 2 years. I just love spooky gothic themed stuff and around Halloween is when the marketing MARKETS ME. I had half a mind to return the Twisted Allure items just because they were so expensive but they don’t accept returns. I even placed a third order with another independent shop that specializes in scented body butters and perfumes but I realized how crazy I was being and cancelled the order which they were very accommodating about.
All being said and done I am over 100 points NEGATIVE in my low buy for body care. I am also about 11k in debt so I cannot be spending like this. 9k of that was due to an emergency pet surgery and after that my fuck it button flipped and I bought some things to make me feel better. Mostly baby stuff but also a few things for me. All being said and done I can’t and shouldn’t be spending money on frivolous things like themed scented lotions but for some reason I just couldn’t stop myself.
In regards to my low buy I am dumping all my points from other balances into my bodycare to try and off set. I’m dreading posting my update to YouTube because I’ll have to admit to the few people following me how much I fucked up. I just hate that I’m like this. I can be so good and so disciplined but only for so long and then it goes out the window. I recently found out I was diagnosed with ADD as a kid so maybe that plays a bit part and I should talk to a doctor about it. My impulse control is horrendous. With lots of practice and work it’s improved quite a bit, but is still horrendous and I’m so tired of it.
It’s mostly skincare/bodycare/haircare by now, but I have an issue with not panning products.
Either I like the product and get scared to run out, so I either just save it completely or sort of stop using it, when 1/5 is left. Or I don’t particulary like a product and then have 4/5 of it sitting around. They take up space, the make me anxious/feel guilty and they are going to expire at some point.
I am decent with using up my daily products and not overstashing or impulse shopping new ones, so it’s mostly all these random ones sitting around.
Now I took all these products out and put them in a box without lid, so they’re easily available and visible, to remind myself of the clutter they actually are.
By new years I’ll toss them all (or donate/give to friends, depending on the product, but get rid of them). This makes me not “scared” to pile on the almost-empty ones. And I will either find a use for the ones I find mehhh or I will not and then finally declutter them.
Hi everyone! I’m new here and excited to join this community! I took a break from buying makeup over the past few years (thanks, COVID) when I realized I already had way more than enough. It felt so satisfying to actually finish a cream blush I’d had since 2014 shortly after lockdown (ysl cream blush from 2014). Now, I'm on a mission to use up a few old favorites from my collection.
Right now, I'm focusing on the Gingerbread, Peppermint Mocha, and Eggnog scented palettes from Too Faced (from 2016!) and then I’ll move on to the Sweet Dreams palette (yes, 2011—somehow it still looks okay!). I don’t wear makeup every day, so I’ve been swirling the brushes like crazy to go through them faster—maybe a little cheat-y, but I refuse to let them go to waste!
For anyone here who wears makeup only on social occasions (I’m usually Thursday to Sunday), do you do the same? What are your best tips for using up older products? For context, the Sweet Dreams palette has 0.90g per eyeshadow.
Today i calculated how much the products I've wasted and decluttered without using up was worth from the very beginning. The total came to around 3600 USD. Most of this wastage was from 2018-2023.
I started buying and wearing makeup from around 2017. Since then i have wasted $3.6k worth of beauty products. This amount doesn't include the makeup i actually used up or utilized to get my "money's worth". My collection has almost always been more manageable except for a period in 2018-2020 when i had an extensive collection thanks to some mental health issues brought on by an abusive relationship i had. I always used buying makeup and beauty products as an outlet. It was my go-to "pampering myself" activity.
I realized how toxic and unhealthy my makeup habits were getting around 2022 and since then have substantially improved in terms of buying and utilizing makeup in a "normal" way. I try to not be wasteful now and have pared down my collection to a point where i don't feel wasteful. But i also realized that to get to this point i wasted a lot of money and energy which could have been utilized in better places.
This whole episode was brought on by the fact that recently after i thought i was "cured" of my bad spending habits, i made a purchase for multiples of a certain beauty item that i had heard a lot about and tried out for 2-3 days. I immediately went in to get "back ups". Fast forward to a few weeks later, that product broke me out and now I'm stuck with 4 bottles of this very expensive product that i can't use or return(i bought them while on an overseas trip). The full scale of my wasteful spending over the course of the last 8 years has really made me deeply ashamed of myself.

This thread is to keep each other grounded as we pursue low-buy or no-buy goals. The temptation is strong, so exercise your willpower with your fellow members!
Hi Everybody! Time for the first check in for 9 by New Year's!
If you have no idea what this project entails, here's an overview:
You select nine items you want more progress on over the next few months. They can be makeup, skincare, haircare, body care, nail polish, perfume, or even non-beauty related items. You can either challenge yourself to to hit pan on each product, completely finish them, set usage goals (e.g. x times per week), or have different items with different goals. If you want to challenge yourself, you can make it a rolling project pan. The upcoming updates are on November 26 and December 31.
If you want to, you can also post photos of your progress.
Wishing you all the best of luck, and I am looking forward to seeing your progress!
It's been almost 10 months of my low buy (only allow purchase in a few categories). I've only purchased 7 makeup items this year (yay!). None of them have been blush and I want to make it to 2025 (scary) without adding any new blush to my collection. I have enough.
Sale season is approaching and I've definitely been tempted. I have been swatching what I own and finding the similar shade. Reminding myself I don't need 10 blushes in the same color.
I want to start project 10 use to use my products more and to make sure I don’t hyper focus on one product and leaving the others untouched.
I do have some products that haven’t been opened yet (ie some lipsticks and some blushes). For project 10 use, is everything in the collection fair game (new unboxed and opened items) or should I just focus on what’s open?

Happy Panning! Please share your update or intro below!
I've just depotted 3 revolution palettes into a magnetic one, so to make a more compact one. I've spent the whole evening doing it, fixed several eyeshadows and even fixed the magnetic palette which arrived broken. After all that work I realized that the eyeshadow pans weren't compatible with the palette, they just didnt stick to it, and I've depotted 20 of them...
Not only that but they seem to not be compatible with any magnet, since I even tried fridge magnets and way stronger ones and nothig stuck. So any attempt at replacing the magnetic sheet is useless.
Now they're stored with a paper towel inside the palette to prevent any movement, but it can't be a permanent solution.
Should I glue them back to the original packaging? And if so, which glue to use?
Or is there any other solution to keep the custom palette? I've thought about making a fitted insert with hard plastic and foam so to stop the pans from moving, but any idea is welcome rn
I'm not sure if others here have been following Abi Daunton on TikTok? She is doing a makeup no buy year and talks a lot about her shopping addiction. She has actually been a huge motivation for me in the earlier days of my no buy this year and I loved her content.
Lately I have felt that her content was focusing more on all the new releases and what she was planning to buy after her no buy ends on Dec 31. Today she announced she bought a bunch of new things (like 100s of dollars of makeup and multiple orders) and doesn't feel remorseful about it. The real kicker for me is that almost every comment is saying things like "You deserve it" and "You have been wanting those things for a while".
I just see so much of my former self in her own justification and that of her followers. It just makes me sad. I know I am my own person though and it really doesn't matter to my own life. I guess it's a sign of my own growth too.
Trigger Warning: replies will contain product names, descriptions, and opinions.
We focus on a palette for the week and our thoughts on it. All palettes are welcome. This includes eyeshadow, cheek, lip, pre-made, and self-made. Grouping of singles can also be a palette (ex: colour palette or scheme).
Did you do the PAW challenge last week? Which palette did you use? Did you find it successful or was it a failure? Have your opinions on the palette changed at all? Do you plan to keep the palette and use it again?
Which palette are you going to use this week? Why have you chosen this palette? Do you have any goals you hope to reach in using it?
BAW/CAW- Did you use any particular cheek product last week? Has it made the cut or is it time to let it go?
I’m not really sure if it was mold but there were white spots in my eyeshadow. I used it to try to create a fake blood make up near my lips and eyes.
I wiped it with alcohol first and then wiped it again with a clean tissue before using it. I didn’t really think too much of it at first cause I thought its normal for make up to turn white if unused for sometime (I am a amateur when it comes to make up sorry)
I searched up white things on make up after taking a shower and the results showed that it could be mold and the comments we’re saying that the spores could hurt my eye. I threw the palette away but I’m kinda overthinking. Has this ever happened to someone before? Should I go to the doctor to get checked? What do I tell the doctor? Pls help 😭✋🏻

TEMPLATE:
Product name | Beginning and/or remaining amount: | Goal: (Finish the product? Make a dent in it? Use it x-times a week?) | Picture:
Hi ☀️ So after another ‘oh well, it’s been a tough week, what’s the worst that could happen?’ splurge in airport duty free, the gnawing, unsettled feeling has come to fruition. The feeling of ‘do better. Change.’ I don’t have the cash to do beauty/perfume how I’m doing it right now. I can’t keep relying on products to heal my emotional blips.
I’m here to learn and get inspired. I need to dig deep and set some goals.
I think organizing is great but I realized I still hoard them because I think it’s worth it.
I recently made a tracker with their name, brand, quantity, notes and added tags like discontinued, in stock, expired …etc
And it helped me so much to throw out the expired and discounted items.
Now if I need something I can look at my tracker and be like “oh I have this already I can hold off”
The cons are you have to make sure you write everything down :( but I think it will make me responsible and not spend so much money on stuff I don’t need!
Hopefully this was helpful! Have a great day and be strong in your journey! 💕
