Hoping to make friends

So I’ve been in Liverpool around 2 years now. I initially moved here with my partner, but we split up soon after moving and she moved away. I decided to stay as I have a pretty good job here, and I absolutely love this city and the people in it. My friends are mostly back down south (where I’m from) and even though they sometimes visit, they’re quite busy with their own lives and I feel like even if I moved back down south, we’d barely see each other.

I’m starting to feel quite isolated here now and, even though I enjoy my own space/company, I’m a pretty social guy by nature and I really just want to make some friends and be able to just hang out, do cool stuff or even just do nothing together.

While I don’t discriminate against any ages, I’m 28 and doubt I’ll have much in common with anyone under 21/22. I’m into sports, gaming, food, music, the standard stuff, but I’m open to absolutely anything (that isn’t just going to the pub or drinking). I just like having a good time whatever I’m doing, so if anyone has any suggestions of the best way I can meet people and make some meaningful friendships, then please let me know, as I really see myself in Liverpool long term and just need some friends to enjoy this city with.

Urgently Looking for Someone to Take Over Tenancy of My Student Accommodation

Hello,

I am currently looking for someone to take over the tenancy of my student accommodation. I am leaving because of homesickness and I have already moved out of the room, so its ready to be moved into as soon as possible. The room is an ensuite, double bed room, in a flat with 10 bedroom however there are only 6 people in the flat. its got a great view of Liverpool and is also directly across from lime street. its round the corner from Universities like John Moores, University of Liverpool ect. The flat is owned by the student housing company Unite Students, its a great building; lovely staff, 24/7 security, Sky Lounge, many study rooms Cinema Room, Private Dining halls, and pool tables, and a couple of other things. For more information or photos please don't hesitate to contact me!! :)

Anyone know anything about Falkland House accoms?

I’ve seen the flat and we’re looking to get the one on the corner, nice and high with a good view from the kitchen. Other than one or two small things nothing really set off any red flags, but I’m just wondering if anyone had heard anything about them, whether they’re good or bad etc etc?

Cheers

BBC merseyside / Liverpool alliance toy drive

Hello, I listen to BBC merseyside on my drive into work each morning and they keep talking about the toy drive but I haven’t caught the donation centres and when I look online I can’t see anything? Me and my girlfriend have bought some toys for the kids but don’t know where to take them, can anyone help? I did go to a barnados but they’d only take the toys to sell in store and I want these to go to a child in need to open on Christmas morning

Invasion at 2am

Did anybody else, specially north Liverpool, think the world was ending at 2am last night? The most awful loud noises were coming from the sky, sounded way too loud to just be a helicopter. It went on forever..

Lost Toy in Liverpool

Hi! I'm currently on the hunt for a beloved childhood toy, likely in the Liverpool or Widnes area when given away. He is a large yellow duck (about the size of a small pet dog or a baby 😅). He has tufts of fluff on his head and tail which are a bit tatty from wear and tear. He also has beanbag-like beads inside his beak, hands and belly, which make him quite floppy and weighted. There is a scruffy piece of black and white fabric on his bum, where his label has been cut away.

He was donated to a church in the wavertree area of Liverpool (or possibly a church in Widnes) sometime in 2014/2015, along with a dog plushy. I realise this is a very long time to be looking for a lost toy but I have recently managed to get in contact with an old acquaintance from the church and, miraculously, they found the dog! They, unfortunately, couldn't find Ducky but it has given me renewed energy in trying to find him.

I have ASD and other neurodiverse conditions and Ducky was pretty much a best friend to me at times when I would otherwise have been very lonely as a kid. I used to make comics and art about him and even custom made costumes for him to wear (The picture in this post is from a Christmas card I made for my Gran). Having done a lot of soul searching and growth in recent years, I now realise what a vital part of my childhood I discarded in letting him go. It's been quite bittersweet for me to find my dog plushy after 10 years but not Ducky.

If, in the unlikely event, anyone's seen him in a charity shop, community centre, pile of toys etc' anywhere, I think my inner child would feel complete again - cheesy as it may sound. If he's currently in the possession of another child somewhere who cherishes him like I did then obviously I'm not asking for him to be ripped out of their arms - I'd be equally happy to know he's not languishing in a cupboard/junk shop, or worse. Here's hoping 🤞🙏

If you'd like any more details, just ask (although, I won't give specific individuals' names or details on here ofc)

Thank you for reading this. Much love.

Jazz bars

Hello,

I am looking for a chilled space where there are good drinks available that have a jazz band playing. Any suggestions? Preferably in the city centre but no problem if not. Can be any day of the week 🙂

Aggressive beggar in town

Just had an incident with a beggar at the junction of Church Street and Parker Street. He asked me if I would buy him a coffee, and when I answered that I couldn’t right now, he got extremely aggressive and said “you’re lucky we’re on CCTV right now — as soon as I get you where there’s no cameras, you’re getting your chin snapped, so watch your back”.

I’m assuming it was an empty threat, but I felt really intimidated.

Am I the one in the wrong for not helping? There are so many beggars in town these days, I can’t afford to help all of them, and I don’t know how to tell which of them are genuinely homeless and which are grifters. To be honest, it makes me want to avoid going into town.

I arrive in Liverpool in 1 hour, what's open on a Monday?

Between flying from the west coast of the US, and taking the train up from London, I'm a little tired & kinda starving. Can anyone recommend a good spot to grab a steak, or a nice seafood restaurant open on a Monday? Preferably not a chain restaurant, or anywhere with a strict dress code (I'm in jeans, a t-shirt & a ball cap). Maybe close to a little nightlife? Thanks...

Looking for: festival gardens 194 guide

Hi guys,

I lived in St.Michaels for the last year and absolutely loved it, particularly Going to the hill in festival gardens. I have been reading on up the place and never knew it used to be so much more vibrant. I came across the map in this guide (photo) and was amazed. I would love a copy for myself as a token memory, if anyone has one would you sell it to me?? I can see one from America but that’s it so I understand it’s not common.

Thanks, Matt.

Views over the Cruise Ship Terminal

I'm thinking of heading into town in the next couple of days to get some shots of HMS Prince of Wales as she's currently moored at the Cruise Ship Terminal.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any places I might get in that would give me a decent aerial view over this part of the waterfront? Maybe somewhere I could stop for coffee or lunch? Or even just a public access balcony.

Thanks in advance.

Breck Road Laser Pointing

Last night I went out for a walk around the Asda on Breck Road and some prick was pointing a laser at passing cars and pedestrians.

One of the strong greens ones that you might see at a football game being pointed at players.

Be careful if you’re going around there at night, I couldn’t see exactly which house it was coming from.

Totally wicked liquid

Are there any places in Liverpool (preferably near wavertree) that sell totally wicked vape liquid? Going all the way to Liverpool one gets a bit annoying

Looking to work with local projects

I’m a graphic designer new to the city, and I’m looking to collaborate with local businesses, bands or community projects that might need help with their visuals. Whether you’re starting something new or want to give your current project a fresh look, I’d love to work with you!

I’m just getting started here, so my rates are budget-friendly, and I’m always open to chatting about ideas. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, feel free to reach out :))
