Could you all share your experiences before I decide to update from 17.7 to 18?

It's been a month since i put my xs on sale, the back has a crack and a bit shattered on the middle. But it doesn't look too bad, at least for me. Battery health is 74%. The phone is otherwise very clean. The back glass shattered despite using a very thick and rubbery silicone case when the phone fell off my hands. I listed it with the box, original charger and earphones.

Should i sell it for cheap, or replace just the glass or both glass/battery and relist it again? What do you think?

My parent got me an Iphone XS from japan but it’s sim locked, i’ve been connecting this phone to an android for internet, and it’s pretty annoying having to carry 2 phones.

I have an Iphone XS that I've had for nearly five years, and I'm not sure if it was used before that. It's had its screen replaced once a couple years ago and it got cracked again almost a year ago. It has been responding less and less until today the screen stopped registering that I was touching it and I could not unlock my phone at all. Would it be better to upgrade to a (slightly) better phone, or spend 165$ to replace the screen again, and hope that's its only issue?

hi its my first time asking reddit for help so idk how this works, so like i have an iphone xs and my dad gave it to me when he got his i12/13 i dont remember , now he will give me that 13/12 because he got a 14 and i have to hive him the XS back so he has another phone for work and just incase the ios 18 ruins my xs idk what to do? is it laggy? does it drain more battery?? idk pls help

So i just bought a literally new Iphone xs, not even opened from the box for 180€ Everything was nice for 2 weeks but i cleaned it with 80% alcohol, i put a lot of it on it and somehow some got into the phone

1. The Phone started to not react to some touch inputs
2. The Phone started to misinterpret touch inputs
3. Then the touch completely stopped working

I bought the necessary tools and after two days i opened it up,

What could i do to repair that phone, and is it water damaged?

Also where can i find a replacement for this glue between those parts (when i google i just find the one for the "body" and "whole display"

Cheers everyone - let’s face it, we all love the Xs and it still is a solid phone and would continue to stay my driver for another 2-3 years if it wasn’t for the battery.

Even if serviced, the extent to which this iPhone can and will be used is determined by the battery drain of the newer iOS systems.

Accordingly, the question whether people prefer to upgrade or not is tied to the battery performance.

To all that already HAVE update to iOS 18: Has battery life become better, worse or stayed the same?

Hello friends, I have an iPhone XS. For those who have updated to iOS 18, how does it look? Are the features good, or should I stay on iOS 17? Some people have also said it looks more like Android.

I just downloaded iOS 18 on my XS Max, and for me, it feels the same—no lag, and the battery is still stable, even with my battery health at 77%. It doesn’t drain quickly, even when using data, and I believe it depends on the environment. So far, I haven’t encountered any bugs, and the keyboard works perfectly fine.

However, if your iPhone has had any hardware changes—like the charging port being replaced with non-Apple parts—your device may not easily adapt, which could explain why some people are experiencing issues in their reviews.

As of now, I’d rate the update 9/10. If you want a fresh perspective on your iPhone, go ahead and download the update—it makes the experience better! 🤧😊

I made a mistake of updating to iOS 17 and the backup of 16 wasn't compatible. Still to this day I regret updating. I did change my battery from official apple store 9 months ago so it's currently holding to 97%BH. But apart from noticeable lag compared to iOS 16, I can live with it because I really love this phone. Hope this test result help you guys to make a right decision!

Is it me or does everyone think that the control centre in Xs has smaller icon or the control things. I compared it with my friend’s 15 and i joticed it way too small and looks like its out of proportion. Does everybody thinks this too ?

I've just updated form ios17.5 to ios 18.0 and I am noticing that the phone can't focus as the image keeps 'shaking' because the OIS keeps moving .. this happens accross all camera modes except portrait mode !
Anyone facing/faced something similar and can suggest a fix?

Hello everyone, has anyone updated to iOS 18? Is it safe to update? I’ve recently replaced my battery, and it’s showing as ‘Unknown Part.’ Has anyone faced any issues after updating, or is it okay to update if my battery is showing as ‘Unknown Part,’ or should I stay on iOS 17 for now?

Honestly it's performing just like how it was on iOS 17. Everything runs fine. It was lagging for first 10 minutes but it's cool now. Battery life so far is stable on wifi.

Has anyone tried it and if yes can someone tell me how it’s running?

'm currently using 7plus I know it's too outdated but works for me nicely but now the home button haptic is not working also too lagy so I wanna upgrade to XS, SE or 11 very hardly, on a tight budget that's why can't think of any other

Well I am using an iPhone 7 Plus and the performance is quite disappointing. I found an iPhone XS in a good condition for a affordable price so I'm wondering is it the right time to switch to something better. I don't use my phone much, however. I mainly use communicating apps and Youtube, sometimes a few rounds of game with my friends on PUBG mobile. Camera is not a problem because I rarely uses my phone to record videos. I would love to hear your advice on the iPhone XS. Will the battery last long enough to meet my daily usage?

Today I tried downloading IOS 18 beta and I got stuck on (translated word for word from French) "software update asked” for about an hour I don’t know what to do 😭.

This phones on its last legs but I’ll be honest, I really can’t justify buying the new iPhone given it seems like it’s literally the exact same phone as this one. Hi, i need some advices concerning the best thing to do with the arrival of iOS 18. It could kill the iPhone XS as last update,like iPhone 6S or 5S. My battery has been replaced on June 1st at Apple. I want to keep it 2-3 years if possible. I can either:

• Keep it on iOS 15.7.1. It runs perfectly. But first apps will start to be not working du to the old update. It will be annoying in 1-2 years. But garantee me i will have a smooth phone. And maybe change phone at this moment.
• Update to 17.5.1 before it is not available anymore, when ios 18 will come out. (Maximum beginning of October)It will give me app updates for the 2-3 years coming, but there is the risk that the phone will be slower. It can also give the opportunity to go to iOS 18 later is necessary.

What would you do personnaly ? Keep on actual version or update to iOS 17 ?
