Trying to decide between the two of these. I've found these both used for a similar price, the Yamaha a bit more expensive. The Yamaha seems like a much better deal but the Nord still interests me quite a bit, considering it's still compatible with the newest sounds. Mostly would be used for Jazz gigs and shows, any thoughts would be appreciated.
I'm playing the violin and cello parts on the keyboard. So I scanned them in and turned them into music xml with soundslice. (Which did a pretty amazing job). Then I'm using fine to put them together and reduce.
Seems to me it would be easier if mti and the various licensing companies offer strong reduction parts. They have the source finale files or whatever they used.
Why don't they offer them? Do you guys ever manually do strong reduction parts?
The cable is working fine and supplying power but sadly, the keyboard only has sound output when powered by batteries. Somehow there is no sound coming out as soon as I plug in the charging cable. It used to work just fine. Also works with headphones. I unplugged the headphones because I know that deactivated the speakers but they still do not work. Any idea what might help?
So I have been playing professionally for years now but almost exclusively on acoustic pianos. It's about time to learn something about digital pianos and buy one. I'm looking for help in choosing an instrument. Two big things to consider:
I probably will use mostly piano or rhodes sounds but I'd like to explore other sound possibilities. It would be cool to have nice and not too overwhelming interface to do so.
Weight - I am gonna travel with it a lot, so it shouldn't be too heavy. This rules out things like Nord Grand.
I've heard good things about Yamaha CK88, but some people seem to strongly dislike its action. It is also in my preferred price range but i could get something more expensive if it would be worth it.
Hi. After a week, I finally found a conductive pencil. I'm trying to redraw the broken circuit as similar as I can, just as some comments on my previous post said. But I'm not actually improving my case. Am I doing something specially wrong?
Recently I bought a Roland XPS-30, and I wonder if I can use my old M-Vave SMK II MIDI Controller with it to control its sounds or use them together as a MIDI setup for live.
Any tips of how to make them work?
I’ve been looking into buying a combo organ recently but the prices are outrageous. I found two Farfisa organs from the 60s that are being sold at a reasonable price but need work done. They’re around $325 for both and seem to be working to some extent but are in need of repair. I was wondering how hard they are to actually repair, and if the cost of the repairs would be more than just buying a working one. I don’t really have a lot of experience with electronics.
Hi guys, im looking to buy a new digital piano-keyboard (the one I currently own is a cheap yamaha ytp260) but i dont know in wich direction i wanna go, I would like to have weighted keys and 76/88 keys to play most piano pieces, but i also like and use organs, so maybe I should go with semi-weighted keys? I've been looking at some digital pianos like the YAMAHA-P45 but I dont like how stripped down they are in features and voice numbers, basically i would like a piano with 76-88 keys, semi weighted (preferably or weighted) with a good number of voices including organs (like 20-30 voices or so) and i would like to spend less than 500 euros, if anybody has any reccomendation i would be gratefoul
EDIT: I was looking on Amazon and i saw a yamaha dgx 650 for 450 dollars, its very big but would you reccomend it based on the things i was looking for? THanks
I have a juno ds. When i connect it to the pc with a usb cable AND i have it play through an amp with a jack, there is a lot of huss and noise coming thourgh it. When i unplug the usb, everythings is fine. WHat should i do?
Via headphone jack, left only. Via rear output L/mono, left only. Via rear output R, nothing. I've torn the whole thing down. I've replaced 10 capacitors and none of them have made any change at all. I don't know if the XLR ports are doing the same. I've been referencing this german forum below to no avail.

I've done c28 c29 c30 c31
c37 c37
c49 c50 c51 c52
Looking again, c74 and c75 are the last ones mentioned in the thread. Anyone else have any ideas here before I disconnect the thing for the 10th time?
I’ve just received a Juno DS88 in the mail a few days ago and while I haven’t spent a ton of time with it, I find the layout of the patches to be weird, like the categories are organized oddly with whole sections unrelated to the section you’re in. The sounds aren’t bad, but are they not Zen-core? I’m a noob, mostly a guitar player. Of the Juno D8 and FANTOM-08, which of the two is more worth it in your opinion? The FANTOM is about the most I’d want to spend, but I’d rather not regret a purchase later and have to sell something as big as an 88-key keyboard second hand. Biggest pros for me are excellent piano electric piano, strings, winds, and synth (leads and pads) sounds with tweak ability that’s not limited or crazy in-depth, but also not non existent. I hope I’m making sense. Any advice is very much appreciated. I’ve got until 2/3 to return the DS88.
Hey i'm pretty basic. id be happy with something limited sound bank/limited inputs/outputs/little to no fx. What i DO care about is the feel. I cant fit a piano, but i DONT want a plastic case keyboard anymore. I just need a metal box - that doesnt kreek when i play. REALLY I JIST WANT a metal frame, and solid feeling keys, 3 maybe 4 octvs all i need. no midi neciscary, simple/less/no buttons is better, its jist for jamms. bidget is ~$300 but you might be able to upsell me lol
I've got a keyboard with a soundless key, I opened it up and I found this. Half of the circuit is erased and scratched. Please, any idea of what can I do? I've heard that applying graphite mine from a pencil works, but I'm not sure about any detail of about how can I do that
Hello, my keyboard has five octaves and I've been having difficulties with shifting them up or down. I suppose it is possible to maneuver in such a way and any help is appreciated.
I’m a metal gear solid fan. I put together stuff inspired by the game’s story
Does this board have a sweet spot?
I hope this isn't too dumb a question :
If one wants a large variety of good sounds and 88 good weighted keys without paying too much, is it not better to just buy a good midi controller and connect it to a laptop ?
I understand that having to use a laptop induces more setup, which can get in the way of the actual playing, but if I want to buy a keyboard that is not too expansive but still has good keys, then later upgrade to a better sounding machine, it would be good to avoid having to re-buy the physical keys as well no ?
Why aren't the physical keys and the core that produces sound more "separated" ? Is there any device other than a laptop that you could hook your midi controller to (like a workstation made cheaper due to having no keys) ?
As in the title. I do not know which keyboard to pick to replace the older-than-me Intertone DM280 as my main keyboard (I will keep it for making 80s sounding stuff) (my previous post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/keys/comments/1he0aw3/old_intertone_dm280_question/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button ).
People in the comments of that post suggested the PSR-E473. I thought the E473 was a solid starting point for what kind of keyboard I want to buy. So I initially drafted up a list:
- Korg EK-50L
- Yamaha PSR-E473
- Roland GO:KEYS 5
- Yamaha PSR-EW425.
They were all fairly similarly priced (between 1400 and 2100 polish złoty). I discarded the Korg, because I read somewhere that firmware updates were difficult on that model. The E473 too - I thought "why not just get the 76-key one?". So that left me with the GO:KEYS 5 and EW425. And then the decision paralysiss started.
Someone help. I'd love to hear from someone that has used either one or both of these. Thanks!
Hey, so basically i'm an Intermediate level (or kinda) player (sorry for my poor English, i'm not a native) and i'm going to buy a new keyboard/synth because the one that i have is kinda destoyed. And i've been searching, looking, comparing, etc, and i've found this 2 keyboards. And found positive things in both of them. By one side, the Juno DS 88 is a synth, and I LOVE that i can modify and add sounds and all of the things a 88 key synth can bring. And the FP-E50 is a more modern keyboard, and has a lot of functions in therms of technology and that kinds of stuff. What is your opinion??
Hi guys,
I own a KAWAI MP7SE. It plays like an absolute dream, however, being full size, it takes up a lot of space and is heavy to transport, which ultimately, makes it a cumbersome gig piano.
I would like a more suitable gig machine, although don’t really want to replace it, so I’m looking for an additional smaller (e.g 60 - 70 key) one with weighted keys, but on the cheap (sub £400)
I won’t get anything anywhere near new that’s decent for this sort of money, however I may get something older that could work, however my knowledge of DPs from that time is non existent.
Can anyone give me some models/ ranges that might suit my needs? In my head, something like an older equivalent of a Yamaha CP73 would be good, if such a thing were to exist….
Thanks PW
Pros & cons of each? TY
Strange thing ONLY when i connect my keyboard to power and the in the amp it porduces a loud hum. When on battery it doesnt happen.
Onlyn happens on my house
WHy?
I can record a MIDI track, but I want to quantize/edit in the DAW then record my external keyboard’s audio output (because I guess I want to make my life difficult).
Is this workable with a Roland GO KEYS 5 and GarageBand? If I get some latency I can compensate by shifting the audio back but I’d prefer the DAW shift the MIDI events back. What I really want is this “ZEN-Core” engine as a VST or whatever.
I m a keyboard player in a band and I was wondering, if someone has detected differences in quality by certain brands?
I m looking at a stereo DI Box by Palmer and cant understand what the difference between the PAN 04 and the River elde might be? (besides Design, lol)
Will I regret buying the cheaper model in worse sound, or shorter life span?
Hi, first time posting on this subreddit. I’m in a band at my university and we do a lot of covers of any bands we like. Recently I’m into dream pop (+ shoegaze) and want to cover bands like Beach House, The Marías, etc. Usually I play bass or vocals but I want to try keyboard+vocals and I’m thinking of buying a keyboard but I don’t know which type to get… synthesizer? electronic organ? I’m looking for one that’s versatile so I can play multiple genres. I have experience in piano but I don’t know anything about electronic keyboards/synthesizers. please help me out.
Any information is appreciated. Thanks!
Hi all, I'm an electronic music producer who likes to jam out on the piano. I have a studio where I can work on serious stuff, but would like a compact, do-all keyboard at home without hassle. I would love to have real piano but unfortunately don't have the space for that.
So, as an alternative I'm looking to an all-in-one solution and my eyes have fallen on the Roland RD-88 EX.
Some things I need/want:
- Realistic piano sounds, expressive, true to nature
- Good speakers, I want to have it ready to go at any moment with minimal effort
- A wide selection of synth sounds. True synth engines would be nice, but can be ROM.
- Ease of use is priority #1. No long boot up, just turn it on and play.
As I'm leaning towards synth sounds while also wanting good piano sounds, something like the Nord Stage 4 would be perfect, but unfortunately it doesn't have built-in speakers which is a must.
Is the Roland RD-88 EX a good medium between all of these or am I overlooking better options?
Much thanks! 💛
Hey dudes, I am in the market for a new keyboard. One that I hope can do it all for what I need. I’m mainly a guitar player. I’m looking for something with great piano, electric piano, strings, ambient type synths, and mellotron sounds would be a plus. Ideally I’d be able to edit these settings a bit and make layers. Things like sequencers and drums are definitely a plus and I do want a nice weighted key set. Right now I’ve sort of narrowed my search to the Juno DS88 and the RD88. Should I look further at the more expensive ones like the RD2000 and FA-88? Looking to play it through my Roland JC40 amp or record it straight to my Tascam Model 16. Thanks!
I'm holding my guitar and wanting to use my 443 for an arpeggiated bass line along with drum track. When I hold a key and then press on the sustain pedal, it doesn't sustain the arpeggiated rhythm, it just sustains the notes which run together. I hope this makes sense, I am just trying to accompany myself with a cool bass line.
I recently purchased an electric keyboard from a charity shop for £60 and I am now wondering how do I transport the heavy thing into my house? How do I bring it up steps?
