I know it is a Stradivarius Copy per some light research. Family has it had this violin hiding in the seller of my parent’s basement, belonged to my great great grandfather who was born in the late 1800s in Alyth Scotland. The case is VERY flakey & worn, and the strings while fully strung indeed look brittle. My great great grandfather passed it down in the family(my dad’s side) to my grandpa, and finally to my dad. The front looks very worn, but the sides & the back look beautiful(to me at least)! Was really hoping of getting it repaired possibly for me to practice on and just continue handing it down.
I have been interested in learning violin for a while now and rented one two years ago for a bit. Also, over the past year I have dipped my toes into classical music to expand my music taste, but only relatively recently decided to actually dive head first into the genre and listen to whatever I can find. Have found some beautiful, provoking works that have hooked me. So my interest in the music itself has definitely been motivating me to learn a violin!
I am new to this subreddit so any help to identify its likely origins, or even how much money it would cost to repair would be greatly appreciated! Have a good day too!✨<3
Bought it as a piece of art but l'm so curious about its story. It's been professionally tuned but not sure how true the sound is.
hey so, i've been trying to figure out what this instrument that the character Chronos is playing. I've been doing research through the internet on what this is but I couldn't find anything that looks similar to it. If anyone can please help me figure this out you're a lifesaver. thanks
As a guitarist and sitar player, I fell in love with this instrument the second I saw it. How can I possibly acquire a sarinda exactly like this one seen at the V&A museum?
I don't know the resolution, such a stupid rule. ☹️
I got this vintage Bontempi lap harp pretty cheap, but it's missing a few tuning bolts/nuts.
They seem pretty simple where I could cut/file some notches on square nuts, but does anyone know where I could get actual replacements? Or have any better Ideas?
I have this violin that says ‘antonius stradivarius cremonensis faciebat anno 17 f270’ inside of it and am curious on what the background/value of this instrument is. It also appears to have 1702 written inside but it is hard to tell as well as a L.R. Hulse stamp. I figured it wasn’t real but wanted more info
I'd like to somehow cover up my name, ex husband's name, and our wedding date on this ukelele. I think it's painted on? Looking for a low-cost, low-skill-level suggestion if anyone has any ideas. Was thinking handpainted flowers might be pretty? Modge-podge maybe better/worse? It's very dusty because I just found it in a box, but I'd love to give it new life so it's no longer just shoved in the back of a closet. Thank you!
Hi! First of all, I hope that's the right subreddit lol. If not, I'm really sorry for bothering
My boyfriend is a professional violist and I am currently trying to think of a nice gift for him. As I am a very artistic person, I thought about painting a violin for him. To clarify this first, of course I won't touch an even semi-good instrument. I'm thinking about getting one of those really cheap violins like on the picture from Amazon that cost like 50-70€. (That's also why I 'm gonna get a violin. I won't find a viola that cheap). Obviously, it's mainly gone serve decorative purposes, but I wonder if I am going to make it completely unplayable for good if I paint it. I know my bf would love to just fool around with it, like playing it a little for a laugh at a party or sth. Also I love to watch/ listen to how he's able to coax somehow nice music from the worst instruments like a 10€ ukulele that has been laying around in my room forever (yeah I am as musical as a rock and easy to impress lol) So I would be happy if you could give me some tips on how to not ruin the payability completely (if that's even possible). I am planning on using Acrylic paint and -markers, probably gouache too. Also I thought about sanding the body if the paints don't stick as well as sealing the paint with some varnish afterwards. Is that possible? I hope you can help me out! :)
And a 1/16 size violin
A few months ago I purchased this sitar with intent on learning to play. Yet I left it untouched until yesterday while cleaning it. I was wondering if anyone had any information about it because I would love to know more about it!
So I got this instrument from my mom that belonged to her great grandfather or mine I don't remember and I knew it wasn't an oboe or clarinet so, does anyone know what instrument this is?
Hi All, does anyone know anything about this guitar? I can’t find anything online, only the W-100-N-A. TIA
Searched for a while to find this shade of green. There’s a darker green 200 model I believe that was made earlier than this one. Would really love to find the matching bench to this.
Lighted restored and slighted modified for modern sensibilities. Enough said!!
and I love her
