I FUCKING LOVE THIS BAND!!! All 4 of their albums are complete masterpieces!!! Anybody else feel this way? I cannot wait for their next project
FFO Cog, Karnivool, Fair to Midland
Hi, I'm looking for recommendations where the song builds to an incredible climax
Most of Ne Obliviscaris fit the bill, but specifically things like Phyrric and Eyrie etc
Arriving somewhere
Unbreak my heart
Unchained melody
Lapetous
Valley
All genres welcome, but because NeO really scratches that itch, I've come here for the goods
Sorry, I have little information. Looking for a song that came out around 2 years ago. IIRC it was a mix of clean and harsh vocals, I think it started out with acoustic guitar, but could be wrong. I want to say the song name, band, or album had something to do with mountain and/or void, again I could be wrong. I do remember the music video featured 2 or so guys in hooded robes wondering around a house/barn and it was very snowy outside. It wasn't a very well know band, Any help is greatly appreciated. It is not Haken, they kept popping up in my google searches. Thank you.
The beauty of prog is that so many technical riffs and sounds come together to create an awesome song. Some tracks, though, let a riff or two ride throughout and it creates an awesome buildup of sound and tension.
What are some of your favorite tracks that let a riff play itself out, whether it’s a feature or is played beneath other layers of music?
Edit: for myself and those interested in listening to these tracks, I’ve made a Spotify playlist with your recommendations!

Novembre has band a band I feel like is not talked about anymore. I know this band gets lumped in to the likes of Opeth, Katatonia, Agalloch, Daylight Dies, etc but I’ve always felt like there was so much more and something so different about them.
Actually, like 15-18 years ago, I felt like the closest band was maybe Rapture but without the progressive elements. It’s another band that seems to have been wiped away from existence.
Any fans left of these guys or recommendations of something similar?
I’m new to this sub and looking for some other prog bands to get into. I really enjoy Cynic and Atheist, but haven’t ventured out into other bands past those. I want to get into some Opeth as I’ve heard promising things about them but haven’t heard much of their stuff yet. I do like death metal vocals as well as operatic style vocals (think Warrel Dane or Geoff Tate).
What bands would you recommend, and what songs would you start with from those bands?
For me it's a tie between Devin Townsend's The Moth TesseracT and Haken.
