Does Acadia waive the language requirement(ielts, toefl, pte) for international students if we can show proofs of studying in English medium institutions, or have taken English in our courses? I have heard some Universities not needing to show the specified language requirement.
Hey everyone, I'm a new student at Acadia, and I'm really worried about failing my first semester. I'm taking 4 courses this term, but due to not knowing how to manage my time and everything, I'm not doing well. Is it better to take 3 courses this term rather than 4? I’m also an introvert and finding it hard to make friends, which makes things feel even harder.
Good evening to whoever reads this. I apologize for the formatting because I'm on mobile. As the title says, I am thinking of transferring to Acadia from X. I had a few questions and was hoping someone would be kind enough to answer them. I'm currently in my first year of a BSC in Kineseology at StFX, but I'm not liking it as much as I'd hoped. I have a chronic illness, and don't drink as a result (which is pretty much the staple of STFX's culture) so I'm quite lonely because EVERYONE drinks here. It is also super cliquey here. Are people friendlier/is it easier to make friends at Acadia? Is not drinking more accepted there than it is here? Lastly, would anyone have any general advice? (I.e. what you like about Acadia, how walkable the campus is, etc.) Any and all responses are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for reading/in advance.
hello, i searched the university website but only found dates regarding to finding supervisor. other universities usually have deadline for 1st dec/15 dec.
i was wondering is there any similar deadline for this university or the admissions start at the start of each semester?
(I'm an international student by the way)
I only have 2 classes in the fall semester next year, do I have to wait till next spring convocation? Or can I walk in the spring before and still complete my classes in the fall?
Has anyone taken chem1033 & chem1043 online courses? I would need to transfer the credits to a different school and would prefer to get them done as quickly as possible. How long do you think would take to complete each? Has anyone done both at the same time? Thank you in advance.
Hi, has anybody completed their practicum that is part of the TESOL certificate at Acadia? I know it is 20 hours, but wondering how many weeks it took you to complete it, how many hours you did per day, etc.
I trued to contact multiple supervisors for Masters in CS program but I get no response. What should I state in my email to have them respond to me?
Hello as the topic says, I would like to get my SOP reviewed by any international or any university student who have experience in this.
Any help would be really appreciated 😊
I can’t find any info about it anywhere, but I assume they’re still doing it?
I'm a first year History Major and I seriously need friends. I don't live on res so I'm so out of the loop 🫠 How do people talk to people I'm lost as hell
I have received my offer letter, and the start date is January 6 2025 . Due to some personal reasons, can I request an extension of 10-15 days from the university? Is it possible?
Please advise!!!!
If anyone is interested in having some casual games of PTCG, please let me know. Thanks.
The title pretty much says it all which leads me into a few questions I’d like to ask current students at Acadia- what dorm would you consider to be the best dorm? What can I expect from life on campus? What tips can you offer an incoming transfer student that you wish someone had told you before you started at Acadia?
Some miscellaneous details about me, I’m a trans woman from the US, I’m looking to study history
Update: I showed my dad the acceptance letter but he can’t just be happy for me. All he can think about is how expensive it’ll be for me to attend and how I don’t have enough saved up to pay entirely out of pocket. He also didn’t want me emailing the university about the financial situation- doesn’t matter I emailed them anyway. So now I have a new question, how is the financial aid at Acadia? Edit: another question, how are the on campus jobs, and where can I browse them/apply?
I heard word that there is a magic the gathering club that meets on Fridays. is this true?
I’m just starting my grade 12 year and I believe AcadiaU is the school for me. I’m your average student, what are my odds looking like with an 79% overall average in grade 11. Should I try super hard this year or should I go for early admission. Help a brotha out
what r my chances of getting into nursing with an 85% average as a girl with autism and a learning disability?
I am currently in the process of applying to my program and I'm completing a math course that is a prerequisite. I'm planning to enroll for the fall intake. By when should I submit my application to ensure that my visa and all other formalities are completed on time?"
Your advice will be very helpful
What if a supervisor agreed to supervise me for Masters program in CS but then I decide not to go further with my application? I also want to know if it is okay to ask multiple faculty members to supervise me.
Hello everyone,
I am an international student currently facing difficulties in my application for the Computer Science program at Acadia University for the winter intake. I have already submitted all the required documents on the application website, but it seems that my submission hasn’t been processed correctly. I’m trying to figure out what might be wrong with my application materials.
I reached out to the enrollment advisor listed on the application site for assistance, but was informed that as an international applicant, I fall under the jurisdiction of a different advisor. I was provided with their email and phone number. Despite emailing them on August 14th, I have not yet received a response.
Consequently, yesterday I utilized the appointment scheduling feature on the application website to set up a virtual meeting with this advisor. However, when meeting time came, I waited in the online room for thirty minutes, but they did not show up. During this period, I attempted to call them but received no answer. Subsequently, I sent another email inquiring about when they would be available for a virtual appointment and am still awaiting a response.
Time is of the essence for me, as I need to apply for a visa after receiving my offer, however, I'm currently stuck as my application seems incomplete, and I'm unable to reach my admissions advisor despite multiple attempts since the end of July.
As the situation continues, I am becoming increasingly anxious. Could you please advise me on what steps I should take next?
I’m an international student arriving at Acadia on September 9th due to a delay in my passport stamping, and I’ve been granted a one-week extension. I’m interested in changing my program from the Bachelor of Applied Science to the CAS program. Could you let me know if this is possible and what steps I should take?
Anybody know of a reliable and honest garage in the valley? It’s rare to find one that doesn’t intentionally create more problems than they fix these days
Does anyone have any experience with either of these two programs? I don't know which one I want to apply for :/
Hi everyone, I'm starting my Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering) at Acadia University this September, but I haven't selected my classes yet. I'll be doing the 3-year program, and I'm looking for suggestions on what courses to choose for my first year.
What are the core courses I should prioritize? Any tips on balancing the workload and electives that would complement the engineering program?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hey Everyone, I am coming to acadia university this fall and will be working part time just to earn some living tution fee is covered by my parents. What is the situation there and what would you guys personally suggest me to learn any particular skill eg. Hair cutting, car mechanic or anything??
Hi can anyone tell the complete process of applying to masters in computer science. (Masters)
I can still vividly remember the fear and excitement of my first night on campus. 11 years ago, and the feeling is still fresh. Enjoy the best years of your life ❤️💙
Hiii!!
So I'm a student at Acadia returning for my second semester of my first year. My partner and I are moving into this apartment but it has no furniture. We have a car, but not one that could move/transport large furniture items (a couch for example. We may be able to strap a mattress to the roof but that's it). Are there any other students that have been in similar situations? What has your strategy been for getting your place furnished?
Any advice/suggestions would be super appreciated!!!!
I'm a student coming to the area to work this September to December. I'm actually not a student at Acadia but instead from an university in Ontario. I'm a little worried that over the four months I'll struggle to make friends. This may be a little odd on this subreddit, but I was hoping to make some friends my age at the university even if I don't go there. Unfortunately I'm not living in Wolfville and instead the next town over. I was wondering if there is any way for me to find a way to connect with students at Acadia and attend some clubs if they allow non-Acadia students.
