What's in the Altoids tins?
They're used to store all kind of stuff like guitar picks, spare batteries, and slides.
What order should I put my pedals in? There is no right or wrong way! Whatever sounds best is the right order for you so experiment! If you must know what the conventional order is, check it out here.
What are the best pedals?

If you designed a board with everything you needed for creating ambient music. Please also include 3 ambient artists you appreciate with your pedals.
Hello! I have been searching to the “perfect” tone for me. I think the Hx Stomp will solve all my GAS, but with the current price of HX Stomp, I can’t afford it. If you have suggestion to further improve my tone that would be much appreciated.
I love my sound, I play at Church every sunday, and I’m still making improvements on my current rig set up. I play most of Genres. I love clean and grit at the same time. I don’t do metal. I just want a Rig to make me stop searching for more, if that is possible.
Suggestions would help me much.
Currently I wanted the following:
Or if you have experiences with other additional effect you may share it with me here.
Thank you for this community.
Trying to implement an AB/Y for less tap dancing during my bands shows. Had to order some new patch cables cause it’s getting crowded so it’s not wired yet. Also hoping that the Randy’s Revenge is more useful than other modulations live because of its ability to “tune” the frequency knob to specific notes, tune it to the minor root of the key and seems like you can work with it, 12 o’clock is D.
Signal chain Polytune - Fairfield Circuitry Accountant - Rat - OBNE ABY A Plumes - Blues Driver - Fairfield Randy’s Revenge - Shaker - Avalanche Run - MXR Reverb B TS9 - MXR Analog Chorus - Avalanche Run
Powered by Voodoo Lab Pedal Power Plus 2 and the Avalanche Run has its own 9v power supply because of its 400mA draw. This might turn out to be impractical but we’ll see
I assume this is a stupid simple question. I have a Blues Jr. (version I from the 90s if it matters) completely unmodified. I love the clean tone, but I wonder if it doesn’t have some distortion when you crank it. Unfortunately in my bedroom is not the place to test the limits of a Blues Jr. Bitch will shake the windows.
Is there a pedal that will push the amp to break up without the volume being at a level unbearable without ear protection? Is that what an overdrive pedal does?
Do I even want a pedal for this purpose? Am I really looking for an attenuator?
you may reasonably ask why I don’t get a smaller amp like a Champ or whatever. Basically because 17 year old me thought this amp was a great idea and 46 year old me disagrees a little, but I’ve got what I’ve got.
After 30 years of playing out live, starting at the age of 12, playing original grunge and punk, then blues, then Jazz, then prog rock, the americana a little bit of everything else, I'm considering adding a noise gate to my board. I'm just tired of always relegating my pickup selection to hum cancelation even though I ride my volume knob like my life depends on it. Also tired of tweeking power supfly arrangements to get best results. Convince me not to do this.
I've been tweaking around this pedal for the goddamn longest time and I can't quite seem to get it. Anyone else have better luck? Looking to get a tone similar to soft, maybe a bit darker if possible but I don't want to stray too far
TRS cables can carry stereo signal. Only the last device in the chain needs an extra cable. I don't think I've ever seen TRS cables used except for peripheral foot switches and expression pedals. Why has this not become standard practice?
Hey all, I’ve been attempting to make a modern metal bass tone(think tesseract, periphery, etc) using the pod go. I can’t seem to get anything even remotely similar, any tips on how to achieve this sound?
Hey everyone I have a boss RC 30 loop pedal that is giving me an unwanted, high-pitched tone afterI hit the loop function. Can anyone give me some ideas to trouble shoot, besides switching cables, or the instrument?
The Hifi has been out for a while now, but I haven’t seen or heard many in depth comparisons.
Has anyone had a chance to do a side-by-side comparison or know of a source?
I know this has probably been asked a million times before, but I’m starting off my first shoegaze band and looking to find some decent starting pedals for this genre. Payday is on Wednesday and I’m buying the rv6, and I already have a ds1 and a sd1. Any recommendations?
Need to know where to buy or hold (prices are in CDN) - saw Behringer is currently doing a sale on Amazon.ca
You know why I’m asking. I know why I’m asking. So what are the latest developments on this front? When I was a wee lad first looking for HP sounds, clones were scarce and almost never accurate; that’s no longer the case, but I’m now a paycheck-to-paycheck near-30 year old who can’t afford an HP-2, especially when the used market is still, perplexingly, priced as though you can’t buy them new. What budget options are out there that will actually do the thing?
So, I have a Boss CE-3 Chorus and a TC Electronics TCF. Both of these pedals are of the "mono in, stereo out" variety. That makes them a PITA for putting anywhere except at the beginning of a chain, and they can't both be at the beginning of the chain. (I like to be able to switch between chorus and flanging, and even though the TCF can do that, leaning over to flip the little switch seems a bit silly.)
Does anyone make a stereo-in/stereo-out blending pedal for two different stereo sources? I'd like to be able to have the two pedals on the mono side, but feed my digital delay & reverb pedals from the stereo side.
Thanks!
I’ve had the MXR Phase90, have had it for many years and was my second or third pedal. I’ve been diving much deeper into the world of pedals as of late and I’m discovering a lot of things that are really calling to me. In particular, I am equally in love with both the EQD Grand Orbiter and the Catalinbread Many Worlds. Both pedals are amazingly versatile while still being able to hit the regular phase90 sounds. I really can’t decide which one I should trade out for. While I feel the Catalinbread covers a wider range of sounds, such as envelope filter and auto wah, I believe it doesn’t hit the classic phase90 sounds as well as the EQD. Could someone please provide your own experiences with these pedals and give some advice? Thank you!
My wife bought this for me as a Christmas present but didn’t count on the back order situation. It came last week just before my birthday. Today (my birthday) I asked her id she would decorate it and then build the pedal. She slammed it with stickers. I put it on my board and am pleasantly surprised. I have a lot of Klones (one of my favorite drive circuits) and only a handful of them have a low mid push I really like. The Notaklön is one of them. Score!
I have a small pedalboard with a strymon iridium and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a small speaker to hook up to it? I need to be able to keep the volume down since I'm in a condo. I have a portable Bluetooth speaker already with an aux in, but it sounds like shit.
So I’ve typically gotten my sounds by copying those of players I like, and it’s generally been successful. But I’ve never really sat down and tried to dial in the tone I hear in my head.
That raises the question of what to do first?
My assumption is that you do amp > guitar > gain pedal > EQ, but I don’t know.
Any tips greatly appreciated!
I finally filled out my board with each type of pedal I wanted - next is upgrading the reverb.
Signal chain:
Had this thing for years and truthfully never settled on a position I really liked. Any settings you guys like and/or settings that match notable or famous tones from artists or songs
Hey, everyone. Brand new guitar player here. I got a Classic Vibes in January and have been playing Rocksmith, but I'd like to be able to practice without the game.
After doing some research, I found a Boss Katana-50 MkII amp and a Zoom G1X Four pedal. Are these good for a beginner? I'm a complete noob when it comes to gear. Is this all I need to plug and play?
As far as pedals go, I'm looking for a tuner, distortion, delay, loop, and other common effects to be as versatile as possible. Is the Zoom good for that?
Thanks!
Hello, I’m a guitarist from a DJ background and am looking for a guitar pedal looper that will allow me to loop a phrase, and then speed it up or slow it down according to my midi host. The ideal is that I can record a phrase super slow and then speed it up as I increase the tempo on my midi host. Ideally the pedal would have the option to both lock the key/pitch of the loop as I speed it up but also have the option for the pitch to rise as the speed increases or lower as the speed decreases. Does anyone know of a looper pedal that can do this?
I've heard a lot of descenting voices on the topic of the new Line 6 Pod Express. I ordered one this morning. Most of the negative reviews were either about the plastic/cheap casing, or people that just flat out didn't know how to use it, running an amp modeler into another amp. Does anyone have a strong opinion on the tones of the amps/fx? Is it possible to gig with? Is it just a matter of dialing it in? What are your thoughts?
I’ve been considering buying some pedals. I want to try to get a heavy metal type tone so what type of pedals should I get and, if possible, where can I find cheaper ones?
I bought a Mooer E-Lady flanger on a whim a few years ago an have been pleasantly surprised by how much I've used it.
Sounds really similar to the old Deluxe Electric Mistresses to my ears and is tiny and cheap. I bought it as I was going through a brief but intense Cure phase and felt I had unjustly dismissed flangers as all hair metal jet whooshes. I quickly found out that I had been very clueless and that a lot of my favorite Pink Floyd and Isley bros. sounds that I had assumed where a chorus or univibe were indeed a flanger, easily obtained with the E-Lady. Yay! Live and learn.
Anyway, now I'm wondering if there are any clones of the old Electric Mistresses out there that people would consider an upgrade from the E-Lady?
I primarily just run a quad cortex, so I like keeping limited editions boxed away. Would like a build a display for them at some point. Not sure how I’d go about that.
I understand now. You were right
