This is the cheapest I’ve ever seen this amp. Just posting it on here for anyone who might have missed it. There’s tons of threads singing its praises and I can personally attest to how great it sounds not only for the price (paid about $280 for mine) but just in general. Happy buying!
I use a mustang lt25 amp and its a nice bedroom practice amp but I try get some pantera or Metallica tones and the gain just doesn't go high enough. I'm on the heavy metal setting on 10 gain but like 3 volume, is it my guitar or is it something with the master or normal volume? Also I've tried using distortion pedals over the extra 10 gain and for some reason it does nothing. Can someone help me out because I want a good thrashy and powerful tone.
Picked it up and it works well. Some of the pots are scratchy and the reverb pot post is broken but I have the knob. For $75 I couldn’t turn it down. Any thoughts, advice, or input would be appreciated.
My 'sledgehammer to crack a nut' total overkill amp.
Brutally loud, enormous and weighs a ton, and I in no way need it, but it's awesome and I love it.
The cab is a Marshall 1936, with a V30 and a Creamback in it.
Anyone out there have a sovtek mig30? I'm trying to hunt one down and can't freaking locate one anywhere lol. There were not a ton of them made so it makes sense, but wanted to shoot my shot on this thread and see if anything comes out of the woodwork
Looking between a spark 2, mustang, katana, or catalyst. Intent is something to have fun with at the house exploring different sounds while relearning guitar. Picking it back after a decade plus and mainly playing bass. Doesn’t need to be a gig worthy rig
Hi guys, I want to ask for some suggestion because I want to buy my first tube amp for my band and gigs, I was thinking about this 3 Amps (they're used/second band) H&K tubemeister 18 for 270$, a Peavey invective mh for 460 $ or a peavey 6505 mh for 370$, what do you thinknis the best to get a modern metal sound. Or maybe you have other Amps suggestion
I've got a Cornford MK50 head that I don't use, anyone interested in taking it off my hands?
Hi so recently I bought an amp as a beginner guitar player but I cant seem to get the thing to turn on, I bought a power supply for it but there's no sign of it reacting when I plug it in. I know nothing about electronics and really just need someone who knows what their doing to help me out.
The amp was second hand from an eBay seller who seems to just sell junk they find from garage sales so I have little hope for them being able to help me out in any way.
(in hindsight I probably should have done a little more research on the seller since this isn't the first time I've received a faulty product from not doing proper research first. but then again I never learn from my mistakes.)
I'm not sure if the power supply I purchased was compatible with the original version of the Blackstar Id core since I'm pretty sure it could be a v2 supply, but either way I cant find a supply for the version I have.
if you have any advice before I try sending the item back please let me know, I'm terrified that I might have dumped almost 100 pounds on some piece of shit when the seller wont even take returns.
Hey, I am 40 something former beginner returning to guitar after a long hiatus of approx 20 years. I am not a complete beginner, but been so long may as well be. I have looked and seems guitars not to have really changed much as far as I can see, amps however is a different story. I have a guitar sorted out, Fender MIM Duo Sonic, which I got a superb Black Friday deal on a b stock. My amp question is this: Fender Mustang lt25 (new) v lt40s (maybe new maybe used) v GT40 (used) Of these I was initially leaning to the lt40s. Also considering a used Positive Grid Spark 40 as these seem to be around same price.
Just looking for thoughts, I know as a beginner I’m probably not going to use a lot of the features of these amps, but I also didn’t want to get something that I would need to upgrade in quick order.
The amp is Marshall g80r cd, it’s in decent condition tho
Has happened pretty much every time I play recently.
Essentially seeming randomly as shown in the video, I’ll no longer be able to play sound through the amp, it’ll only be the buzz. It isn’t pedals or cables or guitars. The sound is still there and exactly the same volume if and when I change the gain or volume knob on the amp (including if it is set to zero).
It goes away when I turn my amp on standby but as soon as I turn it off standby it comes back. If I fully switch my amp off as I just did for maybe a minute, I was then able to play normally again but the sound came back again, this time sooner.
For ref amp is Marshall dsl 20 hr.
Any idea what it could be or what fix is needed?
This is a mean machine. Still love it after almost ten years later.
Can anyone help me source a power supply for the Torpedo Captor X? The one that shipped with the item was similar to a laptop power cord with the power cord plugging into a power brick. The available replacement power supply on their website uses a different style with the adapter being part of the plug (wall-wart? Hopefully this makes sense, I'm unsure of the correct terminology).
I can't seem to find a good replacement online. It seems like it should be widely available. The Captor X requires:
12v 200mA Center negative
Quad reverb recently started making a popping sound, checked the tubes and one power amp tube makes a glass sound while the others make a thud like a drum. Is this normal? Could it be electrolyte caps causing this?
Looking for a decent budget guitar amp with max budget 200 euros. Looking for a combo amp with clear tone to play bit of jazz nd indie. Realistically I want an amp thats not too loud.
Current options i found
- Fender Champion 20
- Fender Champion II 25
- Boss Katana MK mini
- Orange Crush rt 20
-Black star Fly 3.
Let me know if you got any other recommendations or takes on these.
Quick question. I have a cab I found on the side of the road a few years ago with a Celestion G10C and an 80's Eminence squareback of sorts. Sounds fantastic, though I've only run it for short periods of time.
I've gotten a Jet City attenuator for my 67 YBA1. Figured I'd hook it up, but I want to get the impedance question out of the way.
The person who built the cab (its literally made of old laminate counter top and cabinet pieces) wired a 15 and an 8 ohm speaker in parallel. Comes out to 5.22 total impedance.
I know, naturally, an 8 ohm speaker would read around 6 ohms due to the way frequency affects resistance.
Should I take into consideration this difference when choosing my output on the attenuator? With 5.22 total should I use the 4 ohm input or 8 ohm? I will be, in the future (probably next summer) making a new cab for the speakers and I'll possibly pair one of my stock Traynor 10's in series with the G10 when I do it to bring it closer to 8
The amp is said to take 6-16ohm differences no problem, but I don't want to stress it any further as it's already smoked once on me.
The dispersion off axis of the monitors will never match that of a real guitar cab.
It may sound great or even better than a real cab but it will not sound the same.
(Are your monitors 12" cones?) (Are your monitors open back?) (Are your monitors sitting on the floor of a stage?)

Sorry for my poor english.
I have an old used Laney vh100r and it suddenly started to make big siren noise when the standby switch is on.
I tried changing the arrangement of preamp tubes and it didn't work.
The only way i could stop the noise was keeping V5 Socket empty.
And of course, the preamp doesn't work properly.
Is there anyone experienced the same issue?
I have a Marshall JVM205H, SLO-30, 5153 Stealth 50W, & 6505+.
I have a 4x12 with G12T-75’s, 2x12 with V30’s, & 2x12 with G12H-30’s.
I just picked up a closed back 2x12 with no speakers. I don’t want to do a G12H-30 / V30 which is what most people recommend and what comes in the JVM cab since I have a 2x12 with each.
Mainly playing Modern Metal, Death Metal, Death Core, Metalcore, etc… mainly 7 or 8 strings. Drop tunings. etc…
I’d like to try something different from these 3 but, still have a similar flavor. I’d like to do 2 different speakers.
Any thoughts? Eminence, Hellatone, something else from Celestion? Thanks!!
Hi, recently bought a Bugera G5 Infinium for fun and out of curiosity. They're cheap, really not bad at all, based on a Blackstar (whose amps seem to become more and more expensive by the day, even in EU) and a great pedal platform too..
Here's my point: when I switch it on, it automatically sets reverb to on, with or without footswitch connected. I would expect that if I switch reverb off, then switch off amp, switch it back on later, the reverb would be set to OFF, but no such thing. NO matter what I try, it keeps starting up with reverb ON. I want the default setting to be OFF.
On my other amps (Marshall, EvH ao) it's no problem, only the Bugera has this. I use a workaround, set the reverb to 0 before I switch off, so it's OFF when I switch back on, only need to adjust the setting again. I have plenty verb pedals too, that's not the problem, it's just annoying I can't seem to set it the way that I want.
I'm used to set and forget, is there any way to get that done on that thingie???
Thanks in advance 🤘😎🤘
I need help deciding which one I want to buy, on one hand, the Spark has way more tones and can be louder if need be, on the other hand, the Yamaha just looks so nice and has a nicer clean and crunchy sound IMO.
can people who own either or have played with either tell me about what you thought to help me decide?
I have been using the same amp for almost a decade but now it's dead. I need to buy a new amp, something small good enough for bedroom practice. I mostly just play over a backing track so I'd need a slot for mobile phone audio input via aux or bluetooth. I don't want too many options for effects and stuff on the amp since I use a processor before the amp. Something around fifteen or twenty watts might be enough. Can I get some reasonably priced solid options ? Thanks.
