Help?

I need to buy a new TV as my old one got fried in a thunderstorm. I would like it to be 55’ and 4k. I don’t know which one should I take among these? Any reason why one is better than the others?

Anyone here super savvy about Black Friday tv sales this weekend? My HOA has asked me to pick one out and they’ll buy it!

In our building, we have a Rec room that desperately needs a new tv. The old tv in there was made in 2006!

The HOA has told me that I can pick out a new 55” tv, they specified they really want it to be a great tv (they don’t want me to find the lowest costing cheap thing) and asked if I can keep it around or below $500-550.

So, this being Black Friday weekend and all, can anyone point me in the direction of what you think the best tv deals are this weekend on really great quality TVs? I’m not an expert myself. I appreciate any help and assistance.

Help on deciding a tv purchase

Hello everyone, For the past two years, due to life's various circumstances I've found myself not owning a tv, something I've honestly missed.

As my situation stands I plan on finally moving houses and purchasing a TV for the living room.

This purchase will mostly be a gift to my fiance.

I was looking around in tv shops and wondered how awesome it would be to shoot into the range of 75'' or 85'', but I'm not the most informed in terms of panel specifications

I always heard Samsung's QLED hás better brightness and colors but looking through discussions it seems like their tvs leave a lot to be desired in other aspects.

I've also seen people recommend OLED tvs for a better overall look, but I'm not sure if the models i can afford are any good.

For reference in price I'm living in Europe and am looking around 1000€ maximum in price.

Any help or feedback would be appreciated in advance.

Thank you

Which Smart TVs will work as a "dumb" TV without an internet connection

My grandmother has an ancient 55" Insignia that is starting to act up. She doesn't have any internet at her house and only needs to be able to watch cable TV from an HDMI set top box. It seems like every TV has at least some smart functionality these days, even cheapo Walmart brands.

Which brands will work properly as a dumb TV with no internet connection, without annoying pop-ups or error messages?

Are there still TVs with swivel base?

I want to be able to easily turn my TV left or right, like my 12 year old Samsung can do. I've been on the lookout for a new TV for a long time, but can't find any with a swiveling base. Just left or right is enough. 65" or bigger. Does anyone know of any such model? I don't care much about other specifics. All the TVs I've seen either rest on two small bases, or one big fixed one.

I know there are aftermarket bases that swivel, but would rather get one that comes in the box.

Tv that doesn’t lag with airplay

I'm looking for a no frills small (32"-40") flat screen smart tv that doesn't lag when utilizing airplay. All my current tvs in the home lag when streaming via airplay. What exactly do I need to look for to get sure there is no lag when using AirPlay to stream from my iPad?

Looking for a decent 65" BF deal

There are several "deals" for Black Friday in the 65 inch range.

Are any of them actually good? I don't need anything fancy but I don't want it to die in a year.

There's a TLC for 228 and a Samsung for 398.

I've had good luck with Samsung in the past.

85" Office TV for Zoom and Presentations

Need a new TV for our office, 85" and will likely be hooked into computers most of the time (presentations, zoom calls, looking at figures and plots).

Key features are a solid brightness level - and good contrast (we work in astronomy, so there are a good number of plots where you are looking at stars against black). After that it is basically a low price thing -- it's a relatively big room so we'd like a large screen, but we don't need high refresh rates, or very low ghosting, etc.

If one happened to have USB-C, that would be super helpful though (but I think that is rare).

A few TVs that come up on our purchasing platform (we will probably be restricted to these):

Sony Bravia KD-85X80L

Samsung TQ85Q70DAT

Philips 86DL4511D or 86DL3511Q

Samsung BE85D-H

Samsung QB85C

LG 86UR781

75" for bright room for max 1500€

My parents bought the 65" c4 but the living room is very bright and it was hard to see anything. So we decided to return it and find a bigger tv for brighter rooms. The viewing distance is rather high around 7 or 8m. So it doesn't have to be anything oled, also my parents wouldn't see the difference anyway. So we are looking for something 75" that is good in bright rooms and has basic apps like YouTube, primevideo and Netflix.

I am living in Germany if it helps and there are a few deals in tech store:

Need 50” tv for sports, Netflix and gaming

My old tv finally died. Just looking to pick something up during Black Friday. I don’t have next gen consoles, just Xbox one and ps4 so I don’t need anything too fancy. Budget is $300 but cheaper the better. I mostly watch Netflix but also nfl and nba. Thanks!

Best television under $1800 please read

Hello everyone question for someone who is well informed regarding newer televisions OLED QLED all that stuff right.

Sorry a tad lengthy!

So here is the situation I had a fairly nice Samsung QLED 4k UHD Q70A - QN65Q70AAFXZA 2021. One of the biggest problems I had with this television was that whenever I paused live television or film; it was ALWAYS blurry. You might be thinking well who cares it's paused the only thing that matters is when it's playing but just trust that it bothered me can't take a picture of the screen et cetera various times where it was a hinderance. So obviously I want a television that doesn't have that problem. Further after just over 3 years of ownership it completely broke!!! Stored in perfect climate controlled environment no humidity no temperature extremes on either side no exposure to sunlight no physical damage. One morning a couple of weeks ago suddenly it went black in the center and had white flashing bars on the far left and far right sides of the Tv pulsing. Absolutely no connectivity no sound no dvr activity in the background. Could not be paused couldn't be manually turned off with the physical power button or remote control. Only unplugging it stopped the flashing then as soon as it was plugged back in the same thing. I claimed it via insurance and they tried to order some parts saying it sounded like main circuit board failure. When the repair guy finally arrived he said the bottom LEDs blew out and burnt into some other thing just above that. They ultimately refunded me $1400 original cost without tax or the 4 year warranty cost.

Thus I waited for Black Friday week to use the 1400 dollar Amazon gift card they gave me. I'm willing to spend say up to 1800 maybe 1900 with tax if it's really an attractive deal/model. I'd prefer to be in the 1500-1700 final cost region after tax though given most televisions are like 500 bucks and are still 65-75 inches with seemingly similar quality. But I want to have a Tv with some real quality, less/no blur when pausing the television; and ideally something that will last a while.

I have several spares from other rooms and are mostly pretty dated broke out my Toshiba probably 15 years old after the Samsung quit and it was running great but quickly the picture went out after a week bringing me down to a different vizio which is also quite old and starting to fail sometimes the volume stops working and needs to be turned off for a few minutes then turned back on. I have an LG one of the earliest 3D tvs and while I never use the 3D part and I don't really love the auto adjusting volume thing it's a very nice television also in the 10 year old range.

I know anything could happen and I don't expect to get 10 years out of a television anymore but I've never had a Tv die in 3 years especially one that's fairly pricey in todays ultra cheap Tv available climate I think it's gross.

So what should I do? LG Sony something else? I want 65-75 inches 65 would be fine enough above 75 is probably too large. Ideally 240 refresh rate if possible and 4k or higher if that's at all possible for the cost range? I don't care about the smart Tv aspect I don't use built in Netflix Hulu apps and such as I run those through the Xbox console.

What's my best option or best two recommendations? Looking for specific brand and ideally model as well.

Thank you anyone that can assist this is not my area of expertise by any means so it would be a great help. There are so many choices it's a daunting task to me as I want to get the best picture quality in that price range but just really don't understand what the differences are in the types of lighting and brands at this time.

Could someone help me figure out the size of this TV?

Hey Guys,

I stayed at an accommodation and they had this TV. I forgot to take pictures up close and or behind the TV. But really liked the size. I was wondering would anyone happen to know how I can figure out what size it is?

I used some online tools but because the TV is slightly tilted, it does not give me accurate measurements and or asks me to register as a user to get an answer.

Never bought a TV before

Hello!!! I have never bought a TV before but I’m in uni in the US now and would like to.

I’m not looking for anything big, probably 50 inches MAX. I’m looking more in the 43” range. I don’t really care about specs - I was looking at Insignia, Vizio, and Amazon.

But one thing I would really like is to have cable/channels like animal planet and stuff. One friend said the only way to get that was to pay for cable, another tells me I can only buy Samsung tv with tv plus. I would love if the tv could connect to Alexa but that’s not a dealbreaker if it doesn’t, just a nice little plus.

What should I do?

Thank you!

Haven't had a TV in a decades. Seeking affordable browser-streaming setup

Hi y'all, my last television was a massive '90s Zenith that nearly killed me as I lugged it down the stairs. I'm decent at most tech but have a decadelong deficit in TV knowledge. Have tried catching up, but deficits remain. Here's what I'm seeking:

  1. One that allows streaming shows and movies via a browser. I understand there's a technology called Chromecast where you can stream from your phone, and also there's something newer called Google Streamer TV — and if I understand correctly, those can allow me to use a browser.

If that's true, can I can use one of those and not worry about a TV I get having an awful browser? Like, can I get a cheap Fire TV on Amazon and then use a Chromecast remote or Google TV Streamer to force the TV to be compatible with a browser?

  1. A TV that doesn't really lag. I read that Google Streamer TV allows more memory, so maybe that means more speed?

  2. A setup that'll cost less than $300. The quality doesn't need to be great, but it'd be good to get something that's at least 1080p.

How would y'all go about pursuing this sort of thing?

Would appreciate any help.

LG 65" Class - QNED85 Series - 4K QLED UHD LCD TV - Good Buy?

Found a (brand new) floor model for sale at Costco for $399.97. Even on their website they have it at $799.99 as a Black Friday deal. Not too picky about TVs to be honest so I’m not worried if it doesn’t have all the optimum specs. Just wondering if this is a no-brainer I need to snag at the price?

Must buy a new TV this Black Friday, but what to buy for around $1,000 (maybe more)?

I am overwhelmed with the research I've done searching for TV's the past couple of years, and what is worse, everything I've read over the years is no longer in my brain. I've had a TBI, which has resulted in a horrible memory, as well as getting very confused with the littlest bits of information. I'm hoping some of you can please help me. I'll list what I want/need:

  • I need brightness - full screen
  • vivid color - not drowned out by the brightness
  • black blacks
  • NO Google or Roku or similar, but a smart TV
  • at least UHDTV
  • roughly 50"
  • reliability

Okay, so I'm sure this is what every one wants. I apologize but I am not sure how to word what I am trying to say (developed dysgraphia with TBI and also have problems communicating). I will explain by example hoping this is alright.

  • 2015 I bought my first flat screen TV after finding a recommendation on Rtings dot com for a great, cheap TV, which was a 50" or 55" HiSense 4K. I don't remember the model, but it was I think one of their upper end. It was on sale for about <$500, and it actually was visually an outstanding TV. I have no idea how long those qualities would have lasted, though, because within just a couple months it stopped connecting to the internet. I stupidly returned it without using the warranty. HiSense stopped offering whatever this model was soon after I bought it...either that or the price went up a lot. I can't remember which.
  • end of 2015 I bought 2 2015 Samsungs. 1 was 55" and the other 50". I don't know what model, but at the time their not-on-sale prices were about $2,000 and a couple hundred less, respectively. The black was not as deeply black as the HiSense. The colors not as vivid. The brightness drowned out the color. However, I haven't had technical difficulties with them all these years...except on one the top fifth of the screen...the lighting dimmed.
  • I have bought 2 cheap brands for my kids to game with over the years - ones from a big name store that starts with a W and ends with mart. Screen sizes about 32 or 35", but I don't remember. They were usually around, I have no idea, $150-$230. I think Vezio and another brand, maybe. The color was great. They ended up getting their own and I don't remember what happened to the ones I bought, but I do know that they never complained and the screen was always bright, vivid color, and defined black.

I would like to get something that provides visual "stuff" like what I describe the HiSense had. I can afford a better TV than a HiSense now, but I am not sure that a pricier TV is really all that much better. If I pay more, then I want the TV to last a long time. When I say pay more, I'd like to keep the spending below $1500, but the lower the better because this is for my bedroom. I don't know what "a long time" is for flat screens and it's hard to find an answer online. Same to find out about burn in on OLEDs and similar. It definitely doesn't do any good calling manufacturers.

I know this is long winded. I sincerely apologize. I just do not know how to ask any other way.

TCL QM7 for bright room

My 7 year old Sharp Roku has some backlighting issues and will go in the basement.

I'm looking at this TV....we have a bright room and seems like this gets good reviews for a bright room, although the Hisense U8 or U88 in Canada is even better, but it's either out of stock or at a price I don't like. Also a few reviews mentioned wifi issues with the Hisense and I stream alot

This is in Canadian $ but showing at $1399 now, all time low pricing likely due to QM8 coming out? Anyways, good choice for a bright room?

I would be sitting about 10 feet from this TV if it matters
