Got a virtually new EF11 (14 hours light time).
Played several hours of video games with it. Treated it with kid gloves, never even looked at it funny, always said “yes, sir, thank you, sir.”
Today, I had it on for about 30-45 min, then it turned off and started flashing an orange light, suggesting a sensor issue of some sort according to the manual.
Item is out of warranty, nearest service center is two states away.

My questions:
Let me know if you need more information (AV setup, etc).
Thanks!
When we moved in to our new house a year ago, the previous owners were generous enough to leave a complete (and pretty decent) home theater setup for us. This included an older Panasonic PT-AR100U projector. It's ceiling mounted, 20' throw and displaying at 140" on a white painted wall. Room is ~16' x 30' but it's open to the rest of the basement on one side and it's got 3 windows on the perimeter. Layout
Fast forward to now and the bulb just burned out and I'm not sure which direction to go. My biggest complaint with the existing projector is that it always seemed pretty dim. The projector was on its original bulb and we were displaying it against a white painted wall, so maybe getting the full 2800 lumens when new it would've looked fine? With the room being open to the rest of the basement on one side and 3 big windows, there's so much ambient light that we have to go total-blackout to be able to reasonably enjoy it and having to close the blinds all the time to watch something is kind of annoying to me. Automated blinds might help with that though. Maybe it's just not a great space for a projector. Just to put it out there too, I'm not a huge home theater enthusiast. I just want something that looks decent and works and isn't going to take a lot of fussing to watch something. The 140" display size is nice So here are my 3 options as I see them and what my logic is.
Replace the bulb for ~$200 from Pureland Supply and hope it works. I've heard less than stellar reviews though and the cheaper ones on Amazon, even worse. On paper the cheapest and easiest solution, but am I just throwing good money away after bad? Would hate to spend $200 to have the same (or worse) brightness and have to keep replacing every 6-12 months because they don't last like factory.
Bite the bullet and get a new projector. Probably in the $2-3k budget with longevity/reliability and brightness as my most important considerations. Expensive, but there's already a space for it, should be easy enough to swap in, but will I be able to enjoy it without going full blackout in the room like I am now, and still seem dim?
Just say F it and get a 98" TCL or something for $1500. Losing out on a lot of screen size, but it's relatively cheap and easy and I don't have to close blinds or turn off lamps to watch anything. Maybe projectors just aren't for me.
Thoughts?
Hello! I need a recommendation for a short throw projector for 3D mapping. I’ll be using it for immersive interacting. Trying to keep it under $1k if possible! Thanks
Hi, I'm thinking about buying my first projector..
I have seen have recommendations for used projectors.. I have very little money so I was wondering does anyone have comments about buying old Epson EB-S72 and EB-S7 3LCD.. and BenQ MS502 2700L.. Mitsubishi SL1U.. Sony VPL-S3.. they are around 50euros each... Sony being 35e.. They are all SVGA – 800 x 600 (4/3 aspect ratio)..
Any downsides of using such old projectors except conversion to aspect ration and cable adapters? I dont need casting with smartphones...
Does conversion to 16:9 make it lose much quality ?
Would they be better than new Chinese under 100euros?
(For occasional watching movies in dark room from 3meters distance?)
Thank you
I have bought a MAGCUBIC HY320. When I try to mirror my Pixel 7 Pro screen, It doesn't find the projector. However, my Huawei P20 pro does find It. How can I fix this???
Moreover if i try to mirror Disney+ or Netflix from my P20 pro, i get black screen. Is any solution?
Hi - my first post and hoping to get some professional help. I have an Epson Powerlite 1080 UB from 2008 and the bulb needs to be replaced. I assume a better option is to buy a new/updated projector. My screen is 105" W/60" H, 121" diagonal. The throw from the projector to the screen is about 12 feet. The projector hangs from the ceiling (9 foot ceiling). My room is completely dark so I need something that works well without any incoming light. The room was build specifically for watching movies. I would like to stay under $3K USD. Thoughts? Appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you in advance!
I have recently bought a wanbo x5 and it can only focus a section of the screen at once and if we refocus then the other part gets out of focus.
The part that is in focus is always very crisp though
Hello,
I would like to buy a Blu-ray Sony BDP-S6700 player for my Optoma UHD35x, but I am afraid it will not work for some reason. I want to buy it because of the 3D movies. I tried to connect my MiBox Xiaomi to the projector but it doesn't detect the screen as 3D despite I installed the apps like Kodi and VLC player. I also tried to open different versions of the 3D movies - just the 3D option is greyed out and it cannot be turned on so now I consider to buy a Blu-ray player but I need to be sure before I buy it.
Thanks for the response from the mountain.
Does the Epson HC 2100, 2150 or 2250 support playing video from the USB port? If not, which Epson projectors (or other projector brands/models) have this feature? Thanks
Hi, just joined the sub and have never owned a projector before. I have a 65 inch Sony A1 OLED that has just died and am thinking about projecting straight onto the wall instead of getting a new TV.
Main use cases are watching whatever via sky q mini whilst cooking and iptv use for watching 3pm football.
I am thinking about a cheapish android based setup as an intro, can anyone recommend anything specific?
As you can see I have a fair bit of room either side of the telly and a table only a metre in front so I think a short throw is the way to go?
Thanks for any insights from the sub.
Not looking for anything fancy just using for ps5 gaming occasional Netflix
Hi guys,
I would need some advice on increasing the size of the wall projection
I made this quick drawing to give you an idea of my situation.
^(Black: wall borders)
^(Yellow: blind area where projection is not possible)
^(Red: current projection)
^(Blue: hypothetical projection if there wasn't that annoying angle)
That angle forces me to reduce the size of the projection considerably, I would like to know if there are any special objects (to be applied to the corners perhaps) or any possible solution that would allow me to make full use of the space available.
I am not very experienced in the subject and it is my first setup ever.
Thank you!
I have a casio laser projector right now and need tips on something around the same size that preforms well outdoors. right now it’s fine at best but i need smth that’s may brighter
Just bought this projector for some casual outdoor UFC get together with friends. I haven't purchased a screen yet, what is the max screen size, or rather recommended for this projector? I'd like to get the biggest screen i can, but if the projector looks noticeably worse at 150 inches vs say 100 inches, I'd rather save money and get a smaller screen.
I have the chance to buy the BenQ TK860i for 1,150 Cad new from someone who never used it. The one I want is the BenQ X500i but it cost 1,799 Cad on bestbuy and Hisense for 1,799 Cad on Costco.
Need an advice, please.
Pretty excited about our first foray into 4K. It arrives from Crutchfield on Tuesday, so I can get it dialed in for my week on the couch post elbow rebuild surgery coming up Wednesday. We have had two other Optoma projectors in the past, our current is HD143 DLP, which has served us very well!

I've got no idea where to start, but for the Voplls "4k " M10 really just an 1080p projector, How does one replace the Voplss M10 bulb. I'm struggling too figure what bulb it is, the company does not show this information. The brightness is also claimed too have 600 Ansi and 15000:1 high dynamic contrast ratio, 2.4G/5G Dual-Band WiFi Connection, Bluetooth 5.2. Price I got in was 160$ black Friday deal, amazon / giftcards helped. Seating distance of 10 ft. Voplls projector is on an piano chair about 14 feet away. My walls are blue, but it works on it pretty well. Inches of leakage with blinders is not much. I use it for playing Netflix shows. Also for good measure, 50% zoom, MAX 300" Display "Grey"0, Model number is M10. Display resolution 1920 x 1080. If anyone is free i'd love some advice. :D
Considering replacing the lemon ht4550 with the c2 ultra. Anyone tried both? The c2 seems like it does everything and more just a pain with the ir sensor in the back.
I have a pretty heavy, and fairly large projector that id like to put up on a shelf. Is there a shelf i could drill into the wall that's big enough and strong enough? Any solution or advice would be sincerely appreciated. thanks!
My projector is the JVC D-ILA HD250.
Hey so I have a really small spare room that I'm trying to turn into a vibe/bedroom. I'm looking for a pretty cheap portable small projector that I can project onto my wall and play games/watch movies (built in Netflix, yt...) I have no experience what so ever. What do you recommend? I'm thinking Nebula Capsule 3 (not laser)
Hey, I want to mount a projector over our heads in the bedroom. Good idea? Bad idea? Anything I should watch out for?
Hey Gang,
I'm having a really hard time going through the recommendations list wiki here, because nothing seems to be available in AUS/NZ.
I don't care about audio, UX or about portability. It's going to be stationary, I'm tech-savvy, and have speakers sorted.
What I do care about is affordability, brightness, contrast, resolution, and spread.
I've really struggled with making a decision, and keep just coming back to the LG Cinebeam Q which I can pickup on sale for $1,242 AUD.
Are there any options I'm missing that would provide me higher quality for the same or lower price point?
I just don't trust that the prettiest, "big name" projector, is the best projector.
I'm looking for a projector for bedroom casual viewing. I am located in South Korea and there aren't many choices available, and I've narrowed it down to Epson EF21 vs LG PU700R.
Which one would you recommend?
