We have a set schedule for replacement of the equipment in our classrooms and it seems a waste to just ship the old pieces off to recycling. We don't have the warehouse space or personnel to run an eBay store. What do you do with your used equipment that's still in working order?
Hi guys,
Noob here. I wanted to set up a small conference room with a a Poly X52 hooked up directly to a Display and a single USB C to dock in your laptop, so the laptop is being charged (preferably), the screen is being shared on the TV and the microphone+cam of the PolyCam X52 is being used just by plug and plau.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance
My company is doing a Customer Experience Center a Vendor recommended ZeeVee with Bright Sign Players. Does anyone have input on ZeeVee vs Using Crestron NVX etc?
All our meeting rooms are Logitech with android based. From rallybar to rallyplus system with BYOD as backup.
We are upgrading additional rooms away from crestron to Logitech and I came across Swytch cable which has USB-C and USB-A port as BYOD.
Does anyone if it will work with android appliance based systems or for windows only?
Anyone have a good recommendation for a 1-gang Dante interface that has one XLRf and one XLRm on it? I’m looking to put a Dante wall plate in classrooms to provide both line level analog input and output via XLR connectors. Most that I’ve found have two XLRf and two XLRm connectors on a 2-gang wall plate. Bigger than what I need. As an alternative, I suppose I could use an analog XLR wall plate then put analog-to-Dante interface(s) in the ceiling, but I try to avoid “hidden” devices in rooms. Thanks.
I found documentation that the Poly R30 has a mount that connects to a display mount but cannot find product numbers that match up or anything specific on HP’s site. Does anyone know if they have actually have a display mount for the R30?
We're looking for a voice lift solution for a flexible meeting space. I would typically do Shure MXA920s and either Dante speakers or multichannel amps so I get each speaker on a separate amp channel, and then Q-Sys is my preferred DSP. The problem is this is a pretty spendy solution, so I'm trying to value-engineer it a bit.
I like to do 3 modes for voice lift: presenter (audio from presenter to audience only), Q&A (audio from presenter to audience and audience to presenter, but not audience to audience so they don't get distracted by audience noises), and round-table/discussion mode (audio from presenter to audience, audience to presenter, and audience to audience so everyone can hear everyone), and I usually throw in a small-groups mode that plays a bit of white noise to make it harder to hear people not in your group.
And then I usually do a little button panel on the wall to switch between modes.
It's a lot of high-end hardware and it ends up adding up to a lot of money, so just thought I'd ask if anyone has had success with some less expensive alternatives. I see Audio-Technica makes a beamforming ceiling mic, and now Sony has one too, that both mention voice lift in their marketing.
Hello, I'm looking to increase my skills on DSP configuring and doing proper room EQs for spaces. Anyone have any advice on a good way to room corrections and test audio delays between speakers with multichannel stereo.
I have a shop / garage I'm working on and trying to configure parametric eq for the space. The space is 100' X 60' with 15' ceilings. Drywall on walls and ceiling concrete floor, and windows all around.
Equipment:
10 x 8" In-ceiling speakers (alternating L/R so there is stereo sound between every set of speakers the listener stands)
2 X 10" In-ceiling subwoofers
12 channel amplifier with 50W per channel and 5 zones grouped with control software for source and volume tracking.
Overall the sound is pretty muddy and needs to be tuned. I know the floor is an issue with reflections, but I believe there is also a timing issue between the speakers. The speakers are 20 feet and 16.5 feet apart from each other.
I have done training on REW software and can follow instruction on how to run sweeps to setup a PEQ. Not sure on best way to get audio out from computer to rack room. I have a UMIK1 USB Mic and was looking at getting 100' 3.5MM to RCA to run audio out of my Mac book pro into Amp and 20-30 USB C cable to run from computer to mic to get to listening position.
Questions.
Is there a better way to run sweeps or output audio to amplifier from laptops without introducing issues with EQ. Looking for options where I can another source playing sweeps through system while my micro is attached to mac in a different room.
What is the best way to adjust timing delays between speakers. I know in REW you pick a reference speaker and adjust times from that speaker. Should I use 1 reference speaker for all other 9 speakers or break the room in half?
What is the best way to test and match timing on speakers to reduce echo?
Should I EQ all speakers at once or 2 at a time, or 1 at a time? The PEQ on the amplifier is for both L/R channels combined.
The room is larger and the listening position will change constantly. Should I pick 2-3 listening positions and average them for EQ or just 1 listening position?
Is there any recommendation on room treatments that could help to clean the sound up?
Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Hi all, corporate AV tech here. We are looking after a client who wants us to use teams town hall for a hybrid event.
This is all fine except for one thing, when a remote presenter comes in, as organisers of the event, we can see the teams toolbar, and presenters who are in the meeting but not yet sharing content.
So, we had an idea that in the room we join the call as an attendee that would see the content only, but this isn't really an option, as there seems to be a 30second or so delay on the audio and vision when joining the call as an attendee.
So we essentially want to know how to show a remote presenters content/ camera feed only on the screen in the room, as opposed to showing the toolbar, etc.
Hotel AVer here. My company took over this property w/ 3 built in projectors, drop down screens, Extron DXP HDMI switcher / Extron HAE 100 audio de-embedders. The first two years this system worked fine, suddenly the wall HDMI/VGA inputs and wall-mounted Crestron tablets are on the fritz. I have the Extron DXP operations manual and have attempted to "Tie" video & audio as the manual explains, but it either doesn't work at all or works temporarily then the next day I again have no signal. I have time on my side before our next big event, so I'm hoping to resolve this myself and learn how to properly tie these screens together for future reference. Any insight is appreciated. There is a MSG light illuminated Red, but I'm not sure how to check that
Hi all, I run our events programme and have been tasked with updating our hybrid meeting setup and could do with a sense check to make sure I'm not completely wide of the mark.
Our meetings are generally cabaret layout across 4 tables, top table and a presenter standing at the front, with Zoom participants presented through the screen. We have an events laptop, conference camera and speakers and are looking to upgrade the in-room audio recording system (as it is currently a bit clunky!)
Equipment-wise I’ve outlined the below list:
Setup-wise I’ve sketched out that the wireless mics will connect to the audio receiver, the audio receiver connected via ethernet cable to the network switch, the network switch to the audio processor via ethernet cable, the audio processor connected by USB to the laptop.
Does the above make sense? Any advice you might be able to give would be greatly appreciated
Hi all, I'm currently updating the CAD blocks for elevations for the company I work for (AV systems integrator) and I'm struggling to find good models for generic faceplates etc. What is your go too place to find this sort of thing. If not is anybody willing to share their AV blocks out of the kindness of your hearts. I am UK based, so faceplates need to be UK type, but I can alter them if necessary.
Thanks in advance!!!
First time setting a wall up. Screens mounted, cabled with DP in and pass through, networked up on fixed IP 192.168.0.1>6, it’s a 2x3 portrait configuration. Installed Samsungs MDC software and have the devices added but all options in software are greyed out… Help
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on how to integrate one or more of these ptzs into a Zoom Room system?
Main concern is around being able to use basic ptz functionality via the Zoom Rooms controller. Currently we have a Logitech tap but are flexible on what that controller would be.
I've tried using another pro AV ptz (Canon) into the same system but it falls down when trying to control it via the Zoom Rooms controller. I've even tried to use a USB to serial adaptor to get that working to no avail.
So I'm curious what you would use to integrate the control of the camera with Zoom Rooms. End result needs to be that an untrained user can control the ptz from Zoom with minimal fuss.
Separately - would that work for a dual camera setup?
Lighting conditions in the room necessitate a rather high end camera, hence not going for more of a pro-sumer type device which would play nicely with Zoom out of the box.
Has anyone been successfull with a CAT6A connection via a patch panel, a shielded CAT coupler or a joiner between the table hub and the display hub?
Needs assessment for current project requires a user friendly audio/lighting control where the lighting can be integrated with the audio. This space could be used by av professionals and lay people alike. Would Q-Sys be the best option for something like this? Does Q-sys have a competitor that could do this better?
My understanding is that Q-sys has a lot of its own devices for their eco-system, as well as many third party plugin to integrate controls. However, Q-sys does require a trained systems person to set it up, though I assume finding a contractor won’t be terribly difficult.
I need some advice on some of these systems that can integrate audio & lighting together. Thoughts?
After some feedback on the 12G SDI models of Lilliput monitors for those that own any for corporate AV use. Specifically:
Hi
I have little experience with these systems, and a local AV company helped me out with designing a system and programming BrainWare for me. In short 3 rooms are connected with 2-way video signals running through a Kramer 6x6 matrix, and the matrix is controlled by the Brain. Each room has a Android PC with Kramer Agent running on them, and the users of the room can "call" one of the other rooms via the Kramer Agent. All Android PCs and other Kramer devices are on the same LAN, nothing else is on this LAN. All devices have static IPs, and there are no IP-conflicts.
So far so good... Once the system is up and running everything works fine. My problem occurs whenever (for some reason) one of the Android PCs on the LAN are disconnected (network cable unplugged). Then the Kramer Agent on the remaining PCs goes into this insane continuous loop where UI toggles between Android Home Screen and Kramer Agent. It never stops, even if the unplugged device gets connected again.
The only way to fix it is to change the IP of the Android PC into any random available IP (which is a difficult task since every 0,1 second the UI changes/toggles). The same second the IP is changed, the system goes back to normal/stable. Then I can again change the IP back to the original address and everything is fine. This process has to be done on all Android PCs, and then everything is fine again until one device is unplugged from network.
If anyone has any idea what is going on and how to solve it, I would be very grateful. I haven't been able to find an answer no Kramer website, and the local dealer has no idea. Anyone?? Thanks:)
A client has some conf tables with two pockets, and they want HDMI and usb-c at each. All four would auto switch to an extender for MTR ingest. Actual USB 3.0/byod not needed, just video. But they'd like PD as well.
I see that lightware has a product, ucx-4x2-hc40, that does this, tho it has a lot of other features too. And Kramer has a new mtx2-42-T...I don't need the RX sides.
Atlona doesn't seem to have PD yet...?
Any other mfgs I should be looking at?
Our digital signage TV (LG 55SE3B) didn't come with a remote, so I had purchased a universal one as well as an IR Extender. Remote doesn't work so I am wondering if I purchased the wrong IR Extender, or if I need something different. Needing the remote to get into Service Menu.
If there are other ways to access the Service Menu besides remote, would be open to those options as well!
Can you pair the rally bar remote to a rally? Me and my coworker are a bit confused as to why it’s not working.
Hi there! We've got some complicated spaces that have had some complaints around intelligibility. Spaces range from event space / classrooms / large conference rooms.
Has anyone ever messed with STIPA / STI measurements via AudioTools in iOS or via NTI Audio analyzer or via SMAART?
What's the biggest hurdle? I've been looking for an answer as how to interpret the data beyond the numerical read out, and more important than that how to improve the number.
We have the budget to hire an acoustician to do the work, but if we can do it in house it's a more sustainable process.
Any recommendations in the San Francisco Bay Area - I'd be happy to entertain.
Thanks!
Does anyone have a wall mount recommendation for this TV/Monitor?
Its weighs 75lbs.
We are shopping for different GIT options to move away from traditional folder-style file management for our Interface, Control, and DSP programs.
What does everyone use that works well for our needs (e.g., different formats, client vs. site structure.)
Thanks in advance
Has anyone here integrated lighting control of a Lutron Vive system with a Q-Sys control platform? I have a client wanting to control the lighting in some large lecture spaces through the TSC-10’s that will be there to control the AV systems. I see there is a plugin for Lutron Vive but I’m not seeing much else in regards to anyone actually using it. Thanks.
Hey,
Sorry for not being a AV guy. But maybe you guys can point me in the correct direction.
The company I'm working with has a auditorium with full rack of AV equipment.
There is really old touch screens that works for the lights, the curtains, projector and sound.
Some of the equipment:
Yamaha Digital Mixing engine
Creston stuff
3x Bose 502c (https://warehousesound.com/r/bose502ABC.pdf)
2x LAB 1200C (https://www.labgruppen.com/product.html?modelCode=LG022)
Nobody knows the password to the stuff and the company that set it up is no more.
I just want to be able to use the sound, all the other stuff still works with the old touch panels.
My guess is that I can buy some kind of mixer and plugin the stuff from the Bose (XLR connectors) and connect a source to that mixer.
I’ve been working as a Dyson AV Specialist for two years. I got this job through a school diploma program, but I don’t have a solid background in AV knowledge. Honestly, I’ve been managing to survive, but it’s been challenging.
I’m introverted and often feel overwhelmed by the demands from the Executive Support Team and other departments, many of whom still see me as IT. I primarily handle Biamp, Crestron, and a few rooms with QSYS, and the daily routine is exhausting.
On the plus side, the free food and drinks are great, but I often feel like I’m being hogged by older colleagues because I’m 26 and look younger.
Currently, I earn 36k a year and am wondering if I should continue pursuing a career in the AV industry or consider switching to another field for better pay.
What are your thoughts? Any advice on whether I should stay in AV or transition to something else?
