I am trying to design the largest screen I can fit in the given space. The curtains hang down 36" which would significantly reduce the screen/image size. Has anyone had the screen unroll in front of the curtain? This could be done with a "reverse roll" to keep the space requirement lower>
Has anyone run into issues where the ceiling MXAs pickup all sorts of unwanted noise, for example the footsteps on a carpet? Or it laser focusing on the crumpling of a paper?
How are you able to get rid of this?
If there isn't going to be a bunch of heavy AEC required for each mic, what you recommend for using 2 MXA920's while using a Biamp DSP? A server I/O or would you do it another way? Any opinions are appreciated.
I bought a single stud tv mount with an arm because I’m installing a tv in a corner of a waiting room. Found out the studs are metal.
How do I safely install the single stud arm mount and tv?
I’m using drywall anchors. The mount as 3 holes. TV is 43” and weighs 15lbs. Mount says it weighs 7lbs, but feels a little heavier. So total let’s say 30lbs for the whole thing.
Can I safely do this? Or should I return the mount and buy one of those arm mounts that use 2 studs (would really prefer not to have to do that!)?
Thanks!!
I'm helping my friend with a simple system in a mall. For mall music, he just has an amp with 3.5mm in going to the speakers.
The previous music playing device, which was from what I saw an ancient MP3 player died, and at the moment he has replaced it with a phone that's kept on charge.
I said it's fine, but eventually the battery will swell. I suggested playing music from the video playback computer, but it's also very old, so old it can barely run the video playback system. The project also has no budget so we're limited to caveman solutions.
Anyway, he says that this is fine as an interim solution, and he was thinking to buy a timer plug for charging the phone so it won't keep charging 24/7. I said if you can't think of anything else (or just buy an iPad) then sure. However I'm not sure what the "optimal" charging cycle would be for an Li-Ion battery to keep the phone on 24/7.
Does anyone have any idea? I know there are a lot of variables like device, battery condition, storage temperature etc. sp it's fine to just ballpark it. I wonder if 4 on, 4 off would be ok.
Or can you guys think of any super cheap music playing device that plugs into A/C? must be able to either run off usb stick or have an internal memory to play MP3 tracks. Thanks!
Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on a project I’m working on.
I’m currently an IT Specialist at a company that hosts a ton of events in our kitchen space, which is about 20 square meters.
We typically use Teams for our video conferences, but our current setup is falling apart.
We’re using an old Mac Mini with a mixer and amplifier, and it’s causing us way too many headaches.
I’m in the process of upgrading our equipment and am looking for a camera that can track the speakers in the room (we mainly have speakers in one area).
I also want a new sound system that includes an integrated amplifier to reduce the chances of something breaking down.
Here’s what I’m considering for the new setup:
- Camera: Aver TR535
- Matrix Box: Aver MT300
- Microphone: Shure MXA920
- Speaker: MXN5W-C
- DSP: Shure P300
- Backup Microphone: Shure MXW NEXT2
I’ve got a few questions:
Do we really need the TR535N camera, or will the regular version work just fine with Teams?
Can this whole setup function properly with Teams Rooms?
What type of computer do you recommend that’s natively compatible with Teams?
Is there a way to set this up to be a one-click operation, or will it require a person to manage everything during meetings?
Thanks in advance for any help or insight you can provide! I really appreciate it!
We have a large screen where our team congregates to watch weekly management updates. There is always a PowerPoint presentation, with some staff joining remotely.
The current setup includes an older Rally Bar mounted on top of the screen and a Windows PC handling all processing.
We are facing two main issues:
I believe we can address the audio issue with a video bar featuring a higher-count microphone array (like the Biamp VBC2800). However, I'm unsure how to add a second PTZ camera that would be positioned behind the crowd and pointing at the presenter.
Are there any PoE PTZ camera options available? We have an existing Ethernet port in an ideal location, which would be the most straightforward installation.
Additionally, I'm seeking recommendations for:
Questions to consider:
Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing well. This is my first post in this group, so I kindly ask for your understanding and patience. I have noticed that discussions can get quite spirited at times, so I appreciate the opportunity to share my thoughts with you all.
I am currently employed at a sub-contracting company, and we have experienced a slowdown in business since around September. Despite initial expectations of a post-election pickup, there has been no significant improvement in our work pipeline.
Recently, I came across information about President Trump's proposal for a 60% tariff tax on all Chinese goods. This seems to be a drastic measure, akin to the controversial idea of building a wall along the Mexican border and making Mexico bear the cost lol. I am curious to know your opinions on whether this proposed tariff could be a contributing factor to our phones going dry. While I have not closely tracked the origin of the equipment we install, I am looking for potential reasons things have been slow.
I would greatly appreciate any insights or perspectives you might have on this matter. Thank you all in advance for your thoughts and assistance.
I'm working with a company installing these AVPro Edge TV boxes and the tech has lost (gone for good) the power supply cables that go with the box.
I'm looking to see if there's a way to replace/ repurchase the power supply cords . If so, how do I know which one to buy?
Thank you
Does anyone have insights on the manufacturer who supplies touch display used in DTEN D7X? I am wondering if it is Dell since a couple of other companies use that to build their solutions.
Has anyone experienced challenges with the neat bar bro in a 50-pax room while using a Dante ceiling microphone?
We have 3 TSW-1070 booking panels which no matter what you do will not clock sync.
Would this be an issue caused by the control processor its connected to or is being caused by the network?
Hello all,
Need some advice here. We've got an install job tomorrow morning in a ballroom and we're trying to figure out how far off the projector can be from the middle of the ceiling. The screen size is 11' x 6.5' and we will be using (1) NEC 7k laser projector w/ the NP41ZL (1.3-3.08). I know the throw distance needs to be at least 22' but how far left and how far right can it be off center?? The projector has a 30 degree keystone calibration but I have no idea what that translates to feet!
In a recent interview, I was asked what my first 30 days in the position would look like if I were to land the job. I laid out a few details of what I'd like to accomplish, but then I realized that I'm not entirely sure what steps to take to fulfill one of those plans. Establishing a relationship with the manufacturers of the equipment currently installed (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Shure etc.).
I've been on the install and service side of things for so long that I've gotten used to having support available and ready to go whenever I needed it, so I never felt the need to know how those are initially setup.
Are there memberships required i.e. AVIXA and BICSI?
Would I need to do anything specific beyond calling the manufacturer, explaining my position and what it entails, and then asking to become a partner/client so I can have access to all of the tech/customer support that I'm used to?
Any insight is appreciated
Looking to see if anyone has any experience with Q-SYS and Cisco integration.
I have an upcoming system next year where I wanted to utilise a Navigator panel to control elements of Q-SYS. I’m aware there is a integration plugin but at the moment unaware of what you can/can’t do with it.
Wanted to either provide a page-flip UCI, or the less desire able route of creating widget controls that speak to named controls on the Core.
Anyone had any experience with it? Good, bad or ugly?
Hi All, my company is getting ready to move into a new building and we have the ability to start fresh with our MTR devices and set a company standard at the same time. I have talked with a few different integrators and gotten mixed reviews of the different main players (Crestron, Poly, Logi) on which they would go with, but leaning towards recommending Poly at this point.
I am also wrestling with MTRoW vs MTRoA. I have been leaning towards MTRoA because they are easier to deploy but because myself and maybe a small team might be having to support the devices remotely globally MTRoW is sounding better.
I am familiar with the Logi Rally series of devices from my last company, and we had pretty good experience with them, but I don't have experience with Poly, and little experience with Crestron as we had an integrator do most of the support on our large event space that used it for control and Teams meetings.
Any insights from experience would be great.
*For the new building we are looking at 20 small rooms and 17 large rooms, in addition to a board room, and an event space that is still in the design phase.
Hey everyone, I recall there being this online tool someone graciously developed that was mainly geared toward displaying the FOV of Cisco RoomKit devices in conference rooms, but also had a custom field where you could enter any camera specs to mock up. You could also set table size and where it is positioned according to the camera. It is just a handy tool to be able to quickly pop in some info to show a client a rough estimate of what to expect. If anyone knows what I am talking about and can share this link that would be awesome and TIA!
Hey everyone, havean interview soon for a service technician. I'm trying to get into the field of audio visual technology and install. I have done home theater installs for people in my neighborhood quite a bit and also just enjoy working with speakers and other electronics. What are some common questions Typically asked in an interview for audio video type jobs? My background is primarily in computing, I have worked in geek squad for about 2 years. I'm ready to Branch out and I need something new, I know I can succeed in this job but I do have doubt when it comes to my interview skills.
Hi there
One of our client sites has a projector replacement we are doing. The new weight is 45lb. The old one was maybe 20lb? However previous integrator used a suspended ceiling plate like this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1533273-REG/gabor_suspended_ceiling_mounting_plate.html?ap=y&smp=Y
Now this plate is purely held onto the drop ceiling by its weight. The loose metal wires that go to hooks connected to bar joist are not going to cut it for our client, as the existing mount was already sagging the drop ceiling and the new projector could have been a liability.
What we have installed is a weird mess of strut channel that the plate is attached to, which then extends about 2ft each way to the nearest bar joist that it is then attached to via threaded rod in 2x. points per strut channel (2 channels).
I'm wondering if there is an easier way to do this. FWIW there is drywall ceiling between the bar joist and the drop ceiling.
Here's sort of a diagram
Hi Guys,
The attached picture is our current set up in a 65,000 sq ft building, we just added 83,000 more sq ft and I’m wondering how many of these atlas speakers we can realistically daisy chain together with this set up before we run into issues. Any help is greatly appreciated
Hello All,
I have been working for a low voltage company for around 9 years and recently our bread and butter one room setup is having all sorts of issues with HDMI handshakes.
This is in a home, but someone from /rhometheater suggested I post this here as well.
Here is an example Sony K65XR70 TV, DENON AVRX2800H, APPLETV (possibly an AV Pro Edge Balun AC-EX70-444-KIT 4K BALUN) and either URC or Control4 for Control and automation.
We are seeing this crop up a lot. One of the most recent and most frustrating has this exact setup Sony K65XR70 TV, DENON AVRX2800H, APPLETV, AV Pro Edge Balun AC-EX70-444-KIT 4K BALUN, URC for control.
We are getting black screen sometimes, pink screen sometimes, having to reboot the balun a bunch, sometimes audio delays, sometimes it works fine. So intermittent and frequent issues but not all the time. We have spent hours with Denon support and av pro edge support to no avail.
We are also having similar issues with a couple other very similar setups. Some without a balun and some with.
We have swapped every single HDMI Cable. It is brand new TV, AVR and Balun. We have certified our ethernet cable for the balun multiple times. All HDMI Cables are 2 meter +. EDIT All HDMI Cables are some form of the binary B6-4K2 series and are 2 meter + but still within the recommended length for passive cables.
Has anyone else been encountering this and have a reliable solution? We are thinking of no longer doing AppleTVs and doing Roku's only but not sure if that would help or not.
Adding more info based on users questions
We do need the AVR we are doing surround sound and some zone 2 stuff.
We have not tried another brand of AVR in this room.
I am pretty sure CEC is disabled on all devices, but double checking with my installers.
We need the balun because we only have 2 CATs running from the equipment to the TV but we did test with a long HDMI and the issues stayed with the balun out of the loop leading us to believe that the balun is not solely responsible.
We have not tried using eARC.
Some more info: this was a recent install and we spent like 2 full days just troubleshooting this seemingly simple system. In the midst of trouble shooting Sony released another update. After going through all updates with all manufacturers the system was stable except for some audio delay issues for about 5 days and now full handshake issues are back. Black screen but tv is clearly on. TV does NOT say no signal. Rebooting a device in the chain (usually the balun) forces another handshake and the system works. I almost thinking we need a way to turn the apple tv off and have it turn on last in the chain. We have done different troubleshooting with AV Pro Edge Support, Sony Support, and Denon Support on the phone.
Thanks,
I'm looking for a meeting bar (or something else?) we'll be able to use for meetings and presentations, ideally for under $5K USD. I'd like something where each user can walk in and connect their laptop to it wirelessly and have access to the camera/mics/screen sharing to the TV. I'd like for them to be able to stay connected to our corp wifi network so they can access internal resources while on meetings/presenting. I'd also like guests to be able to use the system so we'd put whatever system we get on our guest VLAN. We're moving to M365 licenses next year so Teams will be our main meeting platform.
The room is roughly 13' x 25' with the TV at the long end of the rectangle. The furthest anyone would sit from the bar (assuming something gets put under the TV) is roughly 23', would some sort of expansion mics be needed or are bars able to pick up sound from that far decently?
It looks like the Yealink A30 is popular but their pages say the WPP30 wireless connection dongle isn't available in the US anymore. What system would you guys recommend?
Hello, Has anyone tried the A20s conference speaker and microphone from nearity before? If so what is your thoughts? We have been trying to find a resolution for a conference room issues we been having. Currently we have a CP965 yealink teams edition phone.
It works great but the microphone will randomly stop working during a teams meeting. Tried updating firmware moved it to another conference room and get the same results.
Contacted yealink about this issue and never gotten a response. We have these conference room phones deployed in multiple offices and get the same issue
I have an old NUC (series 8). is there any way to setup a HDMI ingest for wired content sharing? it has a USB 3.1 gen port as well.
Hello guys,
Anyone knows if Dante works fine on the Cisco CBS220 series? With the CBS350 series works like a charm (Audinate write a guide about the configuration for the 350 series) and someone told me about some issues with the 220... I use the SG220 without any problem but the CBS it's new for me.
thanks :)
We are looking at using Panasonic PT-MZ880WU projectors for an install project, but our client is concerned about whether or not there will be visible banding above and below the screens-- they are using 16:9 screens, but this projector is a 16:10 projector.
Obviously we can change the aspect ratio on the projector, but will this model crop the entire projection down to 16:9 (so no black bars above and below the screens), or will it still project black bars above and below the screen to fill the native 16:10 space?
We've contacted Panasonic support and they didn't seem to understand our question.
Thank you!
Hello Reddit,
does anyone know if you can use other interfaces for the macros?
I have a TCCM connected to the Cisco Bar Pro, Works great. But the plan was to hang the micro on a PoE port of the bar and to syn macro via mute
I used this macro roomdevices-macros-samples/Sennheiser Mute Sync at master · CiscoDevNet/roomdevices-macros-samples. But even if I enter the correct IP, it doesn't work via the PoE Ports. I couldn't find anything online where the restrictions are. On the other Port "normal" Ethernet Port Etherything works just fine.
The idea behind it was to set up its own media technology network.
My client has reached out looking for an upgrade of AV system. -system currently is analog system setup in 2005.
Client still wants like manual knob buttons to select zone to send out the audio, increase/decrease volume for each zone.
Looking for easy solution nothing to complicated. -they are good with Qsc for speakers, dsp, amplifiers, or if they any other brands out there.
Info: -5+ zones (1.Microphone, 2.CD player, 3.FM tuner, 4.Paging System, 5. Lobby, 6.etc… -4 indoor soccer fields - fields are large
Just trying to see where I can source knobs as input for each zone and then work with Qsc or other manufacture has like this built in solution.
Here is pic or what current system knobs kind look like.
Any ideas out suggestion to go with AV system?
I am currently working with AV contractor but they suggest QSC… but didn’t say anything about input options.
Does anyone have some fixed solution for hdmi wall plate?
Some boardrooms have hdmi port to connect devices and either cable gets loose, needs reseated or connection hangs randomly.
Trying to see if there way to have hdmi port and cable as fixed solution so they can’t remove it.
