Is a newer Chinese-brand receiver worth it, or should I go for a second-hand branded one at the same price?

Hey guys, I'm considering getting a 5.1 home theater receiver, but I'm torn between this new one from an unknown brand and second-hand receivers from known brands. The issue is, in my country (Asia), second-hand audio equipment is priced quite high (2-3x what you'd expect elsewhere), so the prices are pretty similar.

Here are some the details of the new receiver I'm looking at:

5.1 Home Theater Amplifier Supports Dolby and DTS decoding Inputs: HDMI, HDMI ARC, Optical, Coaxial, RCA 3 HDMI inputs, 1 HDMI output (ARC) Supports 4K and 3D video transmission Bluetooth, USB, SD card playback (FLAC, APE, WMA, MP3) Each of the 6 channels can be adjusted individually (60W RMS per channel, 4-16 ohms) Compatible with both passive and active subwoofers Comes with a remote control, 6-month warranty The second-hand options I’m seeing are from known brands like Yamaha, Denon, and Onkyo, but they’re old models (5-8 years) and priced similarly, or even higher than this new one.

Does anyone have experience with receivers like this from unknown brands? How do they hold up in terms of sound quality, durability, and overall performance? Would it be wiser to go for a branded second-hand receiver given the price, or is this new one worth trying out?

Speaker Recommendations for a stereo system

I am tasked with buying a pair of speakers to fill a lobby of a new high school edition (~30 ft high x 30 ft x 20 ft, large echo space). A room was built to house an "in school" radio station. The past location (theatre lobby) contained one big boxy monitor speaker. The speakers will be used to play music from a large vinyl LP collection for students at start of day and at special events. The speakers are for the OUTSIDE of the room, not the inside.

AMP: Samson S1000 - set to stereo, each channel is 500w at 8Ω

Speaker requirements: need two, passive, white, 100w to 400w constant, 8Ω, wall mountable (not hung from cables).

Looking to stay under $1000 for the two speakers, something that has good sound quality, and is not too thin on the bass. The far end of the room will not clearly hear the music with all the echo in the room. Most of what I find for smaller speakers are the 70v speakers or powered speakers. Just not sure the best quality vs. price. Would like to go with a name brand, unless you have heard the speaker brand you are recommending. Thank you!

20x20 Garage Setup

Budget: $1500ish Location: US Usage: watching sports and a few movies and listening to a lot of bass heavy music while partying on the weekends (Bluetooth is a must)

So I’ve been recommended buying a Sonos system ($2500 for soundbar two rears and one sub) but I feel like for that price I will feel very underwhelmed. I by no means am an audiophile I just like some good bass in my music and decent clarity while watching movies the whole atmos and surround sound is no big deal.

I would like to be able to get a wireless setup for the speakers in the rear of my garage as the space is already finished and it’s going to be a nightmare running cables all the way to the front of the room to an amp, so I was wondering if I could possibly go without rears and just get some serious front channel audio that will easily cover my needs and not have to deal with any visible cables.

(I do have neighbors so for their sake I don’t think I need multiple 15 inch subwoofers)

Thanks in advance.

Looking for Guidance on a Stereo system

I don't have very much experience in the speaker department, but I'm looking to get rid of my Klipsch ProMedia speakers to get a pair of powered monitors that preferably have a USB in. When it comes to gear, I do have a Schiit Asgard 3 that I could use if possible to get a better sound out of whatever speakers. I do not know if I can use the Asgard with passive speakers, if so, I am open to those as well, if I can use my PC with them. Below is the requested template.

Budget and location - $300ish and Southeastern US

How the gear will be used - For use with a computer (Gaming, Streaming services, Music)

New or used - Seeing that this is my first real foray into speakers, I'd prefer to stick to new for now.

Past gear experience - I like the Klipschs, but the subwoofer is just too big and it takes up too much space under my desk. The audio quality is spotty as well, there's something wrong with the 3.5mm cable on them that makes a loud hissing noise when I move that 3.5mm cable that goes into the PC. As for sound signature, I like the flatness of my HD 600s, but I also like the V shaped sound signature as well, so options for either would be great. Thanks in advance.

Looking to build a first time HiFi system for my home, looking for advice

Hi all,

I had high end car stereo systems back in the day so I'm familiar with brands like JL Audio, MB Quart, Focal, etc... I'm looking to build out my first Hi-Fi home system with the main goal of getting something solid that I can expand as I grow. I mainly listen to metal, hard rock, industrial, but also some more techno type things as well as pop, classical music, so I'm looking for something pretty all around on a budget of roughly $5k USD.

I will mainly looking to stream from TIDAL. I'm not looking to go totally bonkers, but definitely want quality. I'll have the system in my living room which is roughly rectangular and probably 22x14' with a floor standing speaker on each side of the fireplace.

I've been looking at the following:

  1. Source - Eversolo streamer (and using the DAC for the time being until I can get a Geshelli)
  2. Amp/Integrated Amp - the NAD C389 seems like a pretty good middle of the road, 130x2, but open to suggestions.
  3. Speakers I'm struggling with, I have the option at my local store to get a pair of Dali Oberon 7's for $1200, which seems like a good deal. I feel like I would need to put a sub in the mix though to fill in the bass. I also really liked the KEF Q750's I heard in the store and they seemed to have quite a bit better bass, but maybe not quite as clear in the highs. I also heard Revel Concerta 2 F36's, but they were a couple hundred more than the Oberons and to my ear were fantastic in the mid to high range, but needed even more help with bass from than the Oberons. The KEF's I heard were running on a Margules ACRH-3 hybrid integrated AMP, which is 3x the price of the NAD I heard the Oberons on, so I'm not sure how much that played a part.

As I said I'm looking to get a Geshelli labs DAC in the future and I'm open to expanding to a dedicated preamp later on as well, so I'm not sure how much value you lose in the C389 if you go that route.

Also, it would be roughly double the price of the Oberon's to go to Dali Opticon 6 mk 2's, which are made in Denmark which is appealing. Anyway, I feel like this is a hole you can dig yourself into and suffer from paralysis analysis. The store has a policy that after 1 year you can trade speakers up to something different for double the price and get credited with the purchase price of the original speaker, so it seems like maybe the Oberons are the way to go and I can change later based on how I flesh out what I want based on having listening hours in my room. Any thoughts or advice are welcome.

As 501 with Polk r200

I have a yamaha as501 and am looking at adding a set of polk r200. Currently running es20. They have the r200 on sale at a4l for 400 dollars. Two questions, will my as501 drive these? Secondly, will I regret buying from a4l? Most complaints I have seen were about avr's. It seems to me that speakers should be a pretty safe bet. Thank you.

First "real" Stereo only HiFi setup 10K budget

I'l be moving to a new flat soon. I'm living in Europe. Living room with the audio setup is 34 m².
Distance from speakers to listening position approx. 4 m.

All my previous setups have been AV-Receivers (Yamaha and Denon).

The current setup is a Denon AVR-S660H, Q Acoustics 2020i, Q Acoustics 3090 Center Speaker, Magnat subwoofer. No rear speakers. Dual CS503-2 record player

Sources used: TV-Set, Playstation, Spotify Music Streaming (via Denon), record player

The setup I have in my head so far:

NAD M10 V3, Buchardt Audio A700 LE active speakers, Rega Planar 3 or Project Debut Pro S

The idea is to reduce the number of components and having a sleek setup. I really like the buchardt speakers. The NAD seems to offer a good usability, is future proof in terms of updates and good sounding. The Rega and Project record players should be more than sufficient for my usage profile (60% TV/Playstation, 30% streaming music, 10% records).

Concerns:

The NAD is a full amplifier, do I waste money bc I have active speakers.
I won't have a center speaker anymore, so dialogues could be too low when watching movies
The NAD M10 V3 has no MDC upgrade slot
Will I miss the additional HDMI ports AV-receivers offer.

Any ideas are welcome.

Active speaker recommendations

Hi!

Looking for recommendations on a budget active bookshelf speaker

Uses: turn table (all kind of genres), desktop PC

Location: US

Budget up to $500 usd

Bedroom ~16m²

Looking to buy new gear

I used to own the fluance Ai41 speakers and outside of some bluethooth issues they were pretty good for me.

So far I’ve looked into the Kanto Yu 4/6 and the Edifier S1000 mkii, both look as solid options (only “problem” is the edifier doesn’t have a sub woofer output). But wanted to know if someone have comments on either or any other recommendations.

Thank you in advance :)

Wall mount speakers

Hi! I currently have a Powenode paired with Neat lota Alphas and I'm looking to add a sub, most likely the SVS 3000micro. As I don't have a lot of floor space to add a sub I'm looking to switch to wall mounted speakers. My options are the ATC HTS7 and the Lyngdorf mh-2. The room is approx. 30m2 big, the listening space (tv and couch) around 15m2. I mostly listen to hiphop, electronic music and rock. Would it make sense to get the ATCs? Or could you recommend any alternatives? Max budget for the speakers would be around € 2000. Thanks in advance 🙏

Looking for a small profile BT receiver

I have a small bedroom I'd like to hook up with a small-profile BT receiver-amp. I have 2 Polk Lsi7 bookshelf speakers I'm not currently using. I'm looking to spend up to $300. I'm open to new or used, I know these are good speakers so a good setup to drive them is if course ideal.

Thanks!

I need help with speakers

Hi guys, I ordered audiotechinca AT LP120XUSB and now I need to buy speakers. Every time I asked about active speakers people tell me go with passive with amp. Why is that? I was looking at Edifier S2000MKIII on Amazon. That seems like good speakers for the price of €450. Can you give me more info on it,please. Thanks

Looking for an integrated amp under $700 for Revel M16's

I don't know anything about amps. I normally buy Denon home theater receivers. Preferably under $600 if possible but I can go up to $700 if it's a big jump in quality. I'd love an airy musical sound. The speakers I have are Revel M16's and I play them decently loud. I like to use direct mode. No subwoofer. 2.0 setup

I'd prefer to buy them from Bestbuy or Amazon or at least something with a good return policy.

First HIFI setup recommends

Dear all

I'm moving to my own place in November so this feels like the perfect time to install a great HIFI system. Now I do now what are great studio/reference monitors but when it comes to HIFI I'm fairly new. Since I don't know where to start, I'm starting my journey with this post.

I'm looking for a system where I can connect my Technics MKII too, my TV will also be connected and what also will be nice if I can use the Tidal on my phone. I have a budget of around €600. The appartement I will move to is rather narrow, kitchen and living room flow into each other (40 square meters). There is also around 3m in between where I will be sitting and where the speakers will be placed.

So to conclude it will be used to watch movies on, use as a Tidal player but most important for Vinyl listening.

Thanks in advance for all the recommendations.

Entry into audiophile territory at mid level price point

Looking at building my first audiophile setup! With a mid level price point.

I've found a set of KEF LS50 Meta brand new (used) for $900AUD.

Pairing it with a Naim Nait 5SI used amplifier I've also found for $800

I'm wanting to look at a good turntable too (which i plan on purchasing new and have got 3 options.

  1. pro-ject debut carbon evo

  2. Project 2 Xperience SB Turntable

  3. Rega Planar 3 Turntable + Elys2 Cartridge

Any help in selecting one of these turntables would be much appreciated!

Side note: also looking to buy a sub and plan on going with something KEF.

Have I done alright in pairing these together for a mid level budget?

I really wanna know...

Would upgrade my record player...REALLY make a solid difference? I am really wondering what I should expect and here is what I currently own.

I have a Sony PS-LX310BT

what I'm considering is... the new Rega Planar 2 with the ND3 cartridge OR the Audio-Technica LP-140XP

I know the Rega to be a solid player but with the new cartridge worth $350 on its own, it feels like the right move. Also if anyone could add some color to the differences here, and how I should expect to know the difference between what I have and what im considering

Also am considering getting the Pro-Ject Tube Box S2

I am using this at home...with some JBL L52's and the NAD C700 to listen to jazz/lofi

Adding sub to full range speakers

ISO of chill, powered sub for music. Around $500. Thanks for any recs. USA. Sub must have built in crossover.

I'm looking for a powered subwoofer to add to my Altec Segovia "bookshelf speakers". They are full range 20hz to 20khz. 4ohm 60 watts, 92ish db, early 70's. I experimented with a friends KRK 10" powered sub (specs below). If I have the sub in the perfect spot and the volume turned down all the way on the sub it sounds pretty good with the Altecs. It offers no flexibility though. Im basically looking for a sub that will crossover around 50hz and take only the lowest of the low frequencies without drawing attention to itself. Nothing boomy or earth shattering. I like jazz, ambient, electronic, classical, some rock and pop. I mostly stream from qobuz but listen to vinyl from time to time. I live in a turn of the century apartment with plaster and slat walls, hardwood floors. Not much of a subfloor either.

Im powering the altecs with a crown d75a.

KRK 10S V2 Technical Specifications

  • Configuration: Front loaded, vented subwoofer
  • System type: Active Subwoofer
  • Low-Frequency: 10" glass aramid composite woofer, 2" VC
  • Frequency Response: 31Hz - 110Hz
  • Max Peak SPL: 117.2 dB
  • Amplifier Class: Class D
  • Power Output: 160 Watts Continuous @ 1% THD+N @ 44Hz
  • SNR (signal to Noise Ratio): 98dB
  • Amplifier Distortion (THD+N): ≤ 0.1% @-3dB of Max Power Output 20Hz - 200Hz
  • Input Impedance (Ohms): 10 kΩ Balanced or unbalanced
  • Ground Lift: On / Off
  • Low Pass Frequency: 50Hz to 130Hz
  • HPF bypass: with footswitch only
  • Footswitch: Optional
  • Phase: 0 or 180 degrees

Looking for a preamp recommendation

I recently inherited a pair of B&W 804s, a Classé CAV-500 5 channel home theater amp, and some nice wires. I did not receive a preamp or receiver something about it being broken. I plugged my Topping DX7s, that I typically use at my desk, into the amp just to make sure everything worked and it sounded pretty good. I am really looking for something to handle inputs and control volume but I don't know where to start. Right now I only really care about the 2 channels so I was looking at preamps but I don't know where to start. Any recommendations for where to start ? I am comfortable spending somewhere around $800 and live in an area with a lot of preowned audio equipment so I am hoping to get something second hand.

Smaller Marantz 40N alternative?

Hi,

Marantz 40N is a perfect amp for me - love the sound, design, quality - everything. However, it is too big for my shelf.

Long story short, I'm looking for an amp as close to Marantz 40N as possible (at every aspect - design, sound), but smaller (of depth - at least 5 cm less, to be precise). I'm looking to spend up to 3500 USD.

Can anyone recommend anything? I have Focal Vestia N2.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for a Streamer That Supports Automatic Speaker Activation via HDMI eARC

I’m looking for a solution to stream audio to my active speakers through HDMI eARC in a way that allows them to turn on automatically. I currently have a Wiim Ultra, but when I connect it to my Triangle Borea BR03 Connect speakers via HDMI, they don’t power on as expected. I’m searching for a streamer that can support this automatic activation feature to make my setup more seamless.

I don’t have a specific budget in mind, so I’m open to any recommendations. This will be used for my dedicated stereo setup, so sound quality and reliable functionality are key priorities. Does anyone know of a device that could accomplish this?

I don't really have a budget and I live in the Netherlands

Long story short: looking for a steamer that can wake my speakers from standby through HDMI. I am not looking for new speakers

Modern or Vintage

Help me decide. I’ll be listening mostly to classical jazz and occasionally old-school hip hop. I’m a newbie and willing to maintain equipment as necessary.

Setup 1: Pro-ject Debut Carbon (2012) with carbon arm and ortofon stylus, warfedale diamond 10.1, marantz pm5004 $800

Setup 2: Pro-ject Debut Carbon x1 (2020) with acrylic platter and ortofon red cartridge, technics sa500, leak audio sandwich or dynaco a25 $900

Price Check - used wharfedale Lindon 85th Anniversary

I’m in the philly area and these would be used strictly for listening. I’m just wondering if this is a good price. I’ve read a lot of good things about the speakers and would be building the system around them. The only thing in my system that’s locked in as of now is my turntable which is a 1200

Here are my options for my media center speaker upgrade, what would you do?

Hi all, I have three options to replace the 2.1 speakers of my media center, what would you chose?

First, I'm replacing my Fluance Ai40 powered bookshelf speakers that I use with my media center, I run the media center from a Windows PC that is connected to my TV, and the Ai40 to the PC 3.5mm output. I feel there better options for speakers that provide better imaging and sound separation. Also, I want to add a sub, a Sony SACS9 10" sub that I'm going to purchase so I would like an option that has a way to connect the a sub. I know I can get a desktop DAC that has a sub out that I can connect to my TV via the eARC output, and connect the speakers and sub to it, however I wanted to upgrade the speakers before adding the sub. Having a eARC input either via directly the speakers or from the desktop DAC is important.
These speakers are going to be used for 90% TV and movie media consumption, and 10% music via bluetooth via my phone or Spotify connect.

  • My first option is, I have the (original) Vanatoo Transparent One powered speakers, they have a sub out so I could connect the sub directly to them. They are great speakers however I find them a little too warm for media consumption, and there is no option to connect via bluetooth or Spotify connect. I could add a desktop DAC that has an eARC input and Spotify connect, like the Wiim Ultra or Bluesound Icon. I could go this direction but again, the speakers are a bit too warm for me with media, and I would need to purchase a desktop DAC that had eARC in and sub out, many desktop DACs done have these features unless I want to spend $500 or more on a desktop DAC.
  • Next, I have two Genelec 8020D speakers, I love the sound, and they would work perfectly for media consumption. They are currently connected to my gaming PC but I would move them from there to my media center. The problem with these is they have no built in streaming controls, and would need a DAC like a Wiim Ultra or a Bluesound Icon. The Ultra and Icon have everything I need in regards to Spotify connect and a sub out, so I could connect my sub also. The Wiim Ultra's price is a little more reasonable than the Bluesound but I would still be spending $500ish (Canadian).
  • Finally, my last option is getting a speaker that has bluetooth/spotify connect, a sub out, and an eARC in, that way I wouldn't need a desktop dac, and I would love that. One set of speakers that have all this and sound great (apparently, I've never heard them) are the KEF LSX II or LT, they are a bit out of my price range, but maybe when they are on sale I could get my wife to be ok with it. This is my top option, as I wouldn't need a desktop DAC, they have an eARC input/sub out, and built in Spotify connect. They have everything I need but of course are by far the most expensive option, AND I've never heard them so I can't say I would like the sound.

Anyways, what would you all chose, sound quality is my top level of importance, with whatever has the best imaging and clarity for media. Also I would need eARC input and sub out, I would like Spotify connect but its not as important as eARC and sub out, but that could be accomplished with a desktop DAC. I'm not married to any of these options or speakers, so feel free to give recommendations.
I'm willing to purchase used hardware, and I would like to keep the price for everything under $1000 Canadian.

Thanks.

2-3K USD AMP/PRE-AMP/STREAMER Setup

Hi Everyone,

I will soon move to a new house and will have a room available for a bit better hifi setup then the Sonos speakers I have been using currently (Nothing bad about Sonos - Go to the Sonos forum to flair them).

The Room is a square room app. 350 sq feet. App. 10 feet from floor to ceiling.
Wall surfaces are primarily large window panes, but when I listen I will have the curtains pulled on at least the back and side wall. On the other side wall there will be wood panelling with grooves. Flooring will be wood with a large medium ply carpet.
Furniture will consists of a small sofa, and then 2 armchairs which placement is optimized for listening.

The music: Mostly turntable when it has to be good, and streaming when I don’t have it as vinyl. As for styles and artists: pink Floyd, dire straits, queen, miles Davis and all the other greats

Speakers:
I have found some second hand speaker from Sonus Faber, The Lumina V, which plays fantastic.

Turntable:
I have also purchased a MOFI Electric Studio deck second hand.

Amps/Pre-amp
This is what I need to source now:

I am leaning towards a classic English A/B amp, like Naim, Cambridge or Arcam, however it also seems like the Hypex Nilai based amps are super value for money.
The DIY kits looks interesting, and I would actually find it funny to build my own amp - I think my technical skills would easily cover putting together one of the kits.

As for pre-amp and streamer it is hard to ignore the new Wiim Ultra and then maybe also use it for phono pre-amp.

My question:
Is any of you running a setup such as this? And do you find you get the warmth of an analog A/B amp. The general advise is of course to test listen the kit, but when it is DIY it is very hard to do that :-)

I was thinking that if I do not feel I get the right warmth I would connect the turntable to a tube-based pre-amp on the line-in on the Wiim Ultra.

There seems to be super varying opinions on the Class-D amp vs. A/B.

Any comments? Maybe someone running something similar

Looking for a solid streamer $500 or less

Hi there, long time listener, first time caller. Okay, so I‘m in need of a solid, reliable streamer. I’m willing to spend up to $500, I’m in the US if this helps. Also, I’m definitely looking for new, not used. This will be used in my living room and it needs to be connected via WiFi, I have no way to run Ethernet without a long weekend mucking around the attic and upsetting (read: understatement) my partner. I want to connect the streamer using optical/SPDIF/TOSLINK (take your pick of names), so the DAC isn‘t terribly important to me. The streamer will be attached to my HK AVR 3600 which is running a pair of Paradigm Studio 20 v 5 and a REL T5 sub. I have no intention of using any of this in a home theater setup, we don’t even own a TV anymore. Oh, and I will be streaming local files 98% of the time. Anything else would be over AirPlay 2 anyway, like Amazon Music. I don’t have any music streaming service subscriptions, but from what I’ve seen most streamers include the most popular services. Oh, and the majority of my music files are ripped from CD, purchased from HDTracks or other hi-res sources, and all converted to ALAC. I do have some MP3s, as well.

Now, for some history. I used to use a pre-4K Apple TV for connecting to my amp, but with an upgrade to T-Mobile internet the ATV would no longer connect to the network. Enter the WiiM Pro Plus. Unfortunately, for some reason that the WiiM techs were never able to resolve, any track I played as the initial track that started immediately (no short intro silence) would be cut off for the first 1 -2 seconds. Only when I restarted the track, or if it came later in my playlist, would the track play immediately. This drove me batty so I recently sold the WPP (losing the first few notes of Tom Petty’s American Girl was just so disorienting).

I’ve been looking at Bluesound, especially the new Nano, but have been coming across a fair number of posts regarding Bluesound’s poor QC and longevity. The last thing I want is another streamer to disappoint after 6 months, when I can no longer return it and am at the mercy of the manufacturer’s tech support. I feel dumb enough about the WPP, even though that was barely over $200. If I’m left with a $500 paper weight I‘ll absolutely lose my s**t. Now, in my research I recently came across the Cambridge Audio MXN10 which seems to be getting some solid love. Does anyone have any experience with Cambridge Audio streamers or equipment? Any experience with the MXN10 and Stream Magic? I like that it has both optical out and a USB port, which I may take advantage of in the future. While not a necessity, access to USB storage is a nice-to-have, especially at the $500 mark.

Overall, I’m open to suggestions, just not WiiM, and am looking to pull the trigger on something in the next week or so. Any help is greatly appreciated.

New house, new system - pls, advice :)

Purchased my first home (yay!) and I'm researching for my very first set of floor-standing speakers + integrated amp combo.

Budget is set ideally at $3,000 for the entire thing and it's going to an open concept space that integrates living and dining rooms and the kitchen (17'W x 29'L x 11'H) — walls and roof are concrete, so I'm naturally preoccupied by echoing and other shit due to hard surfaces.

I'll be connecting to it a 10 year old Pro-ject DC turntable (I have the Pro-ject Phono Box as it's pre-amp), Samsung Frame TV and streaming music over Tidal Connect. Previous system in the apartment I used to live was an old Bose Lifestyle 235 system, so this would be my first foray into proper Hi-Fi and want it to be a good one.

Been looking at some candidates for the speakers and currently set on either QA's 5040 / 5050 or Wharfedale Lintons. I expect them to sound warm and full but with a decent amount of detail particularly on the mid to high frequencies. Want an integrated amp for ease of use and looks but I'm open to read your thoughts; been looking at Marantz M1 or Stereo 70s in particular. Thanks in advance!

!thanks

Picking a Rotel amp

So my current setup is a blue sound node, kef r3 metas, and a pioneer sa 520 my grandpa gave me and it’s from like 1982. I was running them off a denon 970 AVR and they sounded good but I gave that to a friend who actually has a theater and pulled the pioneer out of the junk room and I was shocked at how different the speakers sounded, with the AVR I thought I needed a subwoofer so I got the SVS 3000 micro but when I switched to the pioneer the bass of the r3s changed so drastically (in an awesome way) I returned the SVS cause just the speakers were plenty for what I need.

Now I’m currently looking at some Rotel amps specifically from their a8/10/11/12/14 or the rb 1552 amp, while listening to them currently the pioneer amp(32wpc) shows that my max power at a comfortably loud volume is 3wpc average up to MAYBE 10wpc for peaks. Would the rb 1552 at 130wpc be insane overkill for what I need or would it open my ears like going from the AVR to a real amp? I’m open to suggestions for other amps as well but I get a discount specifically on Rotel and arcam so those are my preference

Advice for new bedroom Sound System Please!

Hi! Calling on any self proclaimed audiophile or home theater nerd who would care to help someone today. I have been adding the finishing touches to my new bedroom and pc set up in it, and everything is perfect- except for my sound system. It’s definitely not “bad” by any means, but I just took an old soundbar (Samsung S40T) that I bought for probably $80 3 years ago, connected it to my computer/xbox and built a shelf for it. I just know there’s definitely a product out there that offers me better audio for all the music I play in my room, maybe directs to audio more outwards to my room than out and upward, and still looks nice on the shelf. To do this it requires a few conditions. For the space needed a soundbar would probably fit best, but I’m open to any sound product that would fit in the space provided and sound good.

  • Space Provided: 5.5” in width(depth), 27” in length (can be up to 33” if seriously needed, but i'd like to leave space for decor)
  • Budget: $250 or less, and please have it be worth however much I spend if it’s that much lmao
  • Technology: MUST have bluetooth, and MUST have a normal aux port or an optical audio port
  • Preferences: idk, I listen to rap, alternative rock, indie, and just about everything. I also play all kinds of games on xbox. I just want a good speaker that works for both situations and can make me levitate when I play music high. Oh and I wouldn’t mind having a little promise of bass too.

I live in an area with a best buy among other tech stores and I am completely open to ordering products online. New or used doesn’t matter as long as it still looks stylish and sounds great (i don’t mind knicks and scratches, it adds character to me). Anyone who read all this, thank you! I trust yalls opinions a lot more than I trust my own shopping hunt results.

TLDR: Need some kind of speaker/sound system that fits on a rather shallow shelf.

Amp for Bose 901 VIs used with AT turntable

We picked up a pair of Bose 901 VIs to use in our living room vinyl playing setup. We have an Audio Technica turntable. We are looking for amp recommendations to buy that will work well with the Bose 901 VIs as I heard they want a good amount of power and need a tape out.

Would prefer to stay around $500 or less but could go higher if needed.

Thanks
