I know we are all wondering which Lando actor will be chosen for the show: Billy Dee Williams or Donald Glover. I thought of a way that could resolve this issue and be a good way of telling the story of the show. Why not use both and do what The Book of Boba Fett is doing: Use Donald to tell the story of how Lando first encountered certain characters or the primary threat of the show and use Billy to tell the story of future/present Lando and his story with, hopefully, Jannah from Episode IX and exploring the return of whatever threat Donald was introduced to in the past.
It was the show, and it had glover as lando on an exogol-like planet (hella blue). And for some reason he was fencing with a fencing sword a bad guy. The scenery looked a lot like the kessel run, with blue nebulas and shit like that. And then the dream cut to a bunch of swords coming down on one of the knights of ren.
I think a fun idea would be that each chapter of the show is a chapter in The Calrissian Chronicles and they go all over the timeline.
That way, you have have guest stars (Han & Chewie, Qi’ra, Rey, Poe & Finn, Bail Organa, Leia etc) and they don’t have to commit to being on the show full time. It’s a lot to get these actors back, but maybe they would do it for a fun and easy cameo.
Further, since Lando isn’t necessarily the most truthful, you can play up the “unreliable narrator” angle and either do stuff outside of canon or make it a bit more ridiculous.
You could even have Billy Dee as old Lando, telling the stories from late in his career as a framing device for the whole show.
Imagine Billy Dee sitting in a big, luxurious chair and cracking open the book of a lifetime of adventures.
Seeing as Lando himself called his holo-diary the name in ‘Solo.’
Also, it just sounds cool.
He shows up in Rebels and in Solo, but what is the time difference between them?
Billy Dee Williams voiced Lando on Rebels twice (different seasons) as well as in the recently released 2020 Lego Holiday Special. So he certainly seems to be up for voice acting. Plus he appeared in RoS.
Donald Glover's performance in Solo is perfect, though, so he'd have no problem filling the role either.
However, if it was either of them, it probably would have been announced on December 10th. So unfortunately the safest bet might be:
Random Voice Actor that we've never heard of would save the studio some money, and might not have much impact on the overall success of the show.
