The Penguin is what Book of Boba Fett should’ve been

Recently, HBO dropped The Penguin, a mini-series about the titular character set in the aftermath of The Batman where there is a power struggle for controlling Gotham’s underworld. While watching it, I’m unfortunately reminded of the disappointment that was TBOBF.

I still remember watching the end of Mando season 2, seeing Boba whack Bib Fortuna and sit akin to a proper kingpin. Based off behind the scenes and the premise alone, it looked like we were getting The Sopranos in space.

Instead, we got a weird noble warrior borderline snooze fest.

I understand not wanting to make Boba a blood thirsty psychopath but you turned a character who would have worked as an anti-hero or even a full villain protagonist into a 2-D good guy.

Without spoiling anything, the Penguin is able to keep the character true to himself in the position of an anti-hero while making him both complex and sympathetic.

Honestly, the crime element of BOBF feels out of place (colorful biker gang aside) because they do very little to develop the underworld.

While The Penguin is on HBO and can show some real dark and disturbing violence, there is no reason for BOBF to be so sanitized. Hell, Boba even struggles against grunts where in Mando S2 he curb stomped storm troopers no problem. The show couldnt even really satisfy a lot of ‘rule of cool’ action.

If for nothing else, if you are a fan of The Batman (or Batman in general) check out the Penguin.

What music is used after Din's N1 test flight?

In the scene where he reconvenes with Peli and then Fennec, what track is playing in the background?

The original space Vespa

Doctor Venus and Colonel Steve Zodiac ride to their spaceship on their hover scooters.

In the opening scene of Fireball XL5: Season 1 Episode 1: Planet 46: Doctor Venus and Colonel Steve Zodiac ride to their spaceship (the Fireball XL5!) on their hover scooters.

From Wikipedia: "Fireball XL5 is a 1960s British children's science-fiction puppet television series about the missions of Fireball XL5, a vessel of the World Space Patrol that polices the cosmos in the year 2062. Boba Fett/Bocchi The Rock Phone Wallpaper

I loved both shows so I wanted to combine them in a custom wallpaper I designed myself. Sorry if it’s not technically allowed. Figured it was easier to ask forgiveness than ask permission. I hope you all like it.

Honest Question - how did Boba Fett gain so much weight from being in the Sarlacc Pit?

He looked chunky when he pulled himself out, and continued to look chunky in the series.

The Book of Boba Fett gets a fair amount of hate for two very good reasons

There is two reasons why the BoBF gets a ton of hate that it oh so rightly deserves.

  1. Boba Fett is made to seem he is ignorant of the complexities of the criminal underworld of tattoine. Look you can make the argument he was the hammer and wasn't concerned about that world, but that is not the reality of what the bounty hunting world as fleshed out in star wars. You don't survive solely based on killing and being a hammer. You have to be good at that AND know how to navigate the criminal world.

  2. Two whole episodes of the show are spent setting up the next season of the mandalorian. I can confidently say none of it was needed for the plot of the BoBF "Oh but how would we understand why grogu was back with mando!" We wouldn't, but it wouldn't break the story and we would be pumped to find out why they are together when the next season of Mando comes out and we could have gotten two extra episodes or at least not had the story interrupted by mando

Book of boba fett isnt that bad, i actully really enjoyed some parts.

Dont get me wrong, if feel like most of the parts with boba were a bit undwerwhelming, but everything to do with luke, din, and cad bane were perfect. cad bane is probibly my favorite live action adaptation so far. The scene where din gets the n1 naboo starfighter and rides through beggar's canyon and then says wizard afterwards is a perfect call back to the phantom menace. Cad bane was just perfect. And luke was just nice, nothing to special because of the limits of the deepfake with emotion, but still nice.

Re-ordering the flashback scenes in TBOBF

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there exists a recutting of TBOBF where he flashback scenes are in chronological order? That way you could watch the show without jumping back and forth in the timeline
